Where is Ken in character strength right now?

Ken just has really, really good footsies. Strong AA game. Annoyingly good Super Jump EX Tatsu. And probably best Super in the game, top 3 or 4 easily.

He’s easily on par with Dudley and Akuma in terms of versatility and damage but he may slightly out-rank them because his Super punishes tons of shit.

Went crazy, can’t tell a story ever, or just a bad story from the word bandwagon, messed up the topic. Lets fix it.

Where’s Ken I, well that is a good question IglooBob.

Ken represents the benchmark for what it takes to be top tier in this game. He’s solid in every category, able to deal easy damage with and without meter, good super, good footsies, etc. I feel that in order to be top tier, you probably outclass him in some way without giving up too much in return. Like how Chun is a medium threat without meter but once she gets it, 90% of your game disappears, or how Yun has constant Genei-Jin but he lacks solid defense and wake-up options (just as examples).

You have to start saying why Hugo is the best character on these things, picking up from the previous one somewhere with: “a learned man might read up about Hugo and think he’s the best character in the game.”

and sway some of this generic overview of SF3 that people like to repeat, which of course leaves out every character other than the ones they always hear about. It will scare them and they will respect him some more.

and I should say, the post was liked after the edit!

yeah everyone should do what i do with remy. believe their character is great and try to sway others’ opinions.

btw his low forward is safe v ken reversal sa3.
long legs.
3s isnt binary.

Tebbo said once that Ryu is a beast and I believed him. I think he is too. I don’t know about SA2 Ryu though.

I will leave Remy to the people who know what they’re doing.

they’re both awesome. sa2 is for men.
ryu is an animal. remy isn’t on that level but he is just fine.

with ryu its about convincing people to use him and not just default to ken. with remy it’s about making people aware he is actually an option on the char select screen.

See me after class.

I think you’re a more patient person than me. I can only have the CYK discussion in small doses, I am so tired of it.

I’m pretty sure that’s false. can’t test tonight but remys low forward is -9 on block according to game restaurant. (I think ken can even reversal jinrai his far stand mk)

The other day I tested chun reversaling remy low forward and she was able to do it. so I’d imagine jinrai being much quicker would work as well (unless its tippy toes)

Goddamnit, I just noticed yuuki’s avatar and I can’t stop laughing now. lmao

I dunno why anyone would want to do Remy’s cr.MK from anywhere OTHER than max-range, besides not knowing how to play Remy.

You guys think it’s so important that cr.mk from Remy is punishable on hit? You think guys like Pierrot cares a lot about stuff like that?

It’s one of Remy’s must-know weaknesses, man. Why else do you rarely ever see guys like Pierrot using it either up-close or if the opponent has a bar?

gdlk avatar yuuki lol

I know, i mean my previous post was not serious. I think it’s not a big deal when you know well Remy so it’s not very important.

However, i don’t know much about Remy.

not false.
why would i just randomly state something wrong? i didn’t say chun cant reversal him. she reaches him because she slides forward.

ken sa3 misses him because he’s too low and too far away. the first hits of sa3 whiff so by the time it is hitting, it misses. and yes, tippy toes
oh yeah also far forward is safe too. same reason.

and this is all with ken in the corner (so he cant be pushedback, least safe situation for remy). everyone does too much assuming. that’s sort of my point.

Ken’s tier all depends on the color you play

red or white top
mustard or relish upper mid
others mid
mexi-ken low :frowning:

I prefer to call it k dash ken or snk ken.

ken should be every 3rd strike player’s secondary character
he truly is the embodiment of 3s
it’s a shame he is / was usually picked by newbies and mashers
i think it gave the character a bad name in the west
i actually stopped using him for a while, years ago, because he was so inflationed

using ken is a lot of fun and you don’t hear asinine comments if you win with him
yes,Y C K
but then clueless people only rant about chun and yun
maybe because they would love to use ken themselves ? who knows

i have always liked deshiken since that famous cc1 match vs mester
he obviously knows the game, smart, nice style with a little bit of kashi crazyness to it
and he seems to be a nice chap

then last year he won cc10 and shortly after there was that infamous ft10 with riki
during cc10 the “kashi crazyness” had increased quite a bit and it was completely out of control against rikimaru
i didn’t like that at all
tons of random shoryuken, everytime he thought riki was about to hidou throw him > shoryuken
incredibly ghetto stuff like whiffing a throw on purpose just outside the hidou throw range of chun and then jinrai
etc etc

but people were like "he’s such a BEAST ! the only one who can defeat the god of chun !"
and epic stuff like that
because some people don’t analyze the matches , they only watch the lifebars
or simply don’t understand the game

in other words : i don’t agree with you on deshiken but people should always draw their own conclusions even if they are not “popular”

i will always say that sugiyama isn’t particularly good as a 3rd strike player, for example
one day i will open a specific thread about this issue / stuff

aaaaanyway - i think there’s definitely a bond / connection between these elements :
character(s) you use in third strike / colour / your fighting style

i am not scared of red, white, blue, purple, yellow or green ken but
ganguro / joffrey baratheon ken…scares me
i use green,btw
