Where did all the feminist/hipsters come from?

Women are bitches because hormones dude, duh!!!

Just like all men are rapist because of their testicles.

I bet if we just gave all these oppressed white bitches some free chocolate this shit would end. Too bad for all the poor 3rd world children that would have to die in the process of procuring the coca beans for said chocolate. But who cares, they aren’t white lol!!!

Because it isn’t about equality, and it hasn’t been in a very long time. It’s about female advantage, often sought under the guise that women are entitled to this advantage due to [insert some arbitrary amount of time here] of male advantage. Some self-described feminists will openly admit to this, others won’t, but the sentiment is fairly clear.

At the risk of saying something really inflammatory, a similar example can be found in certain black supremacist attitudes regarding the desire to own whites as slaves. Fair is fair, or some bullshit like that.

What the fuck. The post you quoted didn’t even say that or anything close to that. Wtf are you doing? lol

Oh man I just needed an excuse to post this.

That video changed my life. Real talk.

I originally labeled your post as spam because honestly, I didn’t understand what the hell it was you posted [or any post of yours for that matter. They look like they were typed up by someone freaking wasted out of their mind] and I didn’t see how it was relevant to the discussion [it if can be called that]. Don’t take it personally. I still think these types of threads will eventually be deemed too taboo and will be banned subjects of discussion on here much like discussing religion and politics are. In the end, nobody wins. Want a intelligent, well thought discussion on here? Silly, you’re in the wrong place, this is SRK

Why would I play a dead game like HDRemix anyway?

Three things:

  1. There are plenty of examples other than Urien and Vega, and you’re wrong to exclude either as an example. Zangief, Alex, Urien/Gill, Seth, Sagat and Adon, among others are all undressed or practically so- not counting the various SF4 and SFxT alternate outfits which are more revealing. That aside, a great many characters in the SF games are traditionally handsome and/or have unrealistic body types- as cartoonishly as they may sometimes be drawn.

  2. In general, we’re still making a fallacy of translation, here- it’s true I’ve seen women be pigs and drool over shirtless, well-built men, but you seem to be thinking more in the domain of what gay dudes who are into musclemen might be looking for. Women are often more fetishistic in their attractions than men- we’re assuming that the military guy (Guile/alts), the cool lead singer guy (Remy, KOF Iori), the cowboy (SF4 Ken alt) or the boyish-but-pretty girl (Sakura, Makoto) are less attractive to women than C.Viper is to men.

With that in mind, I think the issue at hand should be objectification, and not sexualization. If that were the case, the objectification of male characters would not only be larger by some exponential number because how how greatly they outnumber the female ones… But even if we’re talking about general shirtlessness, for every Elena you get an Alex (half naked with his pants falling off), a Urien and a Gill; for every Chun-Li you get a Vega and a Zangief, and a Honda, if that’s your thing.

I generally agree that the male character designs are based on a power fantasy, even though this is a condescending oversimplification. The traditional SF characters’ designs often come from 1980s manga, and later anime, and so the characters not only reflect this in their art and fighting styles, but suffer from some of the comic-book hangups about exaggerating male/female physical features. But if the men are idealized in one way or another, why would the female characters not be?

  1. We have a genre problem.

Let’s say that I like romantic comedies, which is half-true. Of the samples I’ve seen, a certain percentage of them are not only generally condescending in their stupidity, but they objectify men as either sex objects (usually cast aside in the movie’s quest to attain/find The One) or love objects, to be fawned over, chased, or stolen from another woman. As we move towards the genre of relationship dramas we see a lot of cheating and abusive men.

The Devil Wears Prada, not either type but with elements of both, was a huge hit, but is thick with misandry- all the male characters are supposedly assholes except for one, and that one is gay. The main character treats the two straight guys in the film like shit, and she’s generally a worse person at the end of the movie than she was at the start of it. I’d be fine with all of this, if I thought it was on purpose, but it’s played off like “whatevs”. As I understand it the book that it was based on actually displayed an awareness of what was happening to the character, but the movie is far more popular.

Speaking of books, remember 50 Shades of Grey? Not only was it poorly written, but the male lead, if you could call him that, was a sex/fantasy object. Spectacularly popular book, which was pure objectification. Here’s a spoiler alert. After suffering through the book and realizing that our female main character is a judgmental idiot, in the end she dumps the male character and shames him about & judges him for his sexuality, the sole reason for her fascination with him. Also, the tens of thousands of dollars he spent on her behalf, etc. Again, this would be fine if the book were better and the author were smarter than the lead character, and could thus be in on the joke that it is.

What is the point of all this? I know that if I want to watch a romantic comedy, it’s going to be pablum aimed at women, more often than not. The same with many relationship/romantic dramas, though to a lesser extent. I don’t read “erotica” and have almost no interest in it, but I’d guess things aren’t any brighter in that realm.

But if I want to see a romantic drama/comedy that isn’t as I’ve described, I find one that isn’t. There are plenty. Even some that are explicitly from the POV of the male characters- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 500 Days of Summer, Knocked Up, The Apartment (1960), etc. There is, likewise, plenty of erotic material designed with men in mind- you may have heard of it, it’s called Animal Planet. I mean, it’s called porn. In the former case of the general romance/relationship genre, much less material is aimed my way, because there are fewer of my type (in this case, male) who are interested in it.

It’s all well and good to make note of sexism or whatever else offends you, but the people who make that material are under no obligation whatsoever to cater to you if you’re not part of their customer base, and wouldn’t be anyway. At a certain point, you either find something else or make your own.

(to be clear, none of the above offended me, though The Devil Wears Prada did bug me because of how people were meant to react to it. Also, I could have left out the references to 50 Shades of Grey, since it’s porn; not because of the sex in it, but because it’s an utterly soulless thing which is meant to arouse people. You can plug in Sex and the City in its place, if you prefer.)

this is some self-absorbed bullshit. people get flamed way harder and more personally than you on a daily basis. off the top of my head, AF, maxx, magnetix5 and debs come to mind and that’s just based off the limited amount of threads that i check.

^ Matriarch needs to read this 1000 times and recite this in her sleep, it’s the stack of bibles truth, and has been since GD went online back in 2000. But she’ll go back to thinking she’s surrounded by hordes of women-hating demon dicks.

Being a victim means not having to be responsible for what happens in your life. Its always the cirmustances but never fault of the coward. Typical behavior you see from your average white supremist.

The memes and theories of feminism generally refer to a permanent disadvantage under our “system” or “the patriarchy”, etc. There is, therefore, a permanent female disadvantage, and always something to rally against.

More women and girls graduate from every level of schooling than men and boys, but that’s not the point. Women have all of the same legal rights as men- more than we do, if you want to get into abortion stuff, or essentially any male/female interaction of any kind. But that’s not the point. If women earn less than men on average, it has to be sexism, with the statement begging no alternative. The problem with any such movement, is that the questions aren’t asked because the answer has already been provided- the patriarchy, etc. And so people find themselves accepting/spreading fake rape statistics or whatever else is evidence of their notions.

(note: this is not directed at all feminists, etc. But if you’re a feminist and are reading this, I probably do mean you)

You’re using foreign words to her. I am sure she doesn’t know what personal responsibility means

The thing that always gets me about gender rights debates is that during the course of the description for each gender, men are treated as if they get a free pass in everything while women are some sort of constantly struggling, constantly barraged superhero that has to overcome the odds like Cena on a daily basis just to apply for a job. It’s even more hilarious that this is applied to a genre that could be considered an offshoot of art, where artistic integrity is at full swing. Isn’t it telling of the general mindset for mainstream feminists when they complain that people make games they wanna make? They certainly can’t complain about the lack of females in the industry, as anybody with the skills to be in the business can be.

For the record, why can’t women like seeing girls with certain proportions? Or can’t enjoy a game unless it’s a female protagonist? You could argue that they can’t suspend their disbelief enough to support it (which is a personal fault), but in proper RPGs where the idea is to craft your own journey and character, there is usually a gender choice for the player. It’s ludicrous that people feel like they need to stand up and shout against the horrible, tyrannical grip of… games involving varying art styles and stories? Outside of porn games, ‘objectification’ is a rarely used concept and is a term confused by many much like misogyny. Strictly wanting to save a loved one, for example, isn’t turning them into an object unless you want to follow the narrowminded thought process of: I have to rescue her! > She is being held somewhere! > Objects can be held! > PATRIARCHY LADIES AND GENTS. Being in a position of weakness doesn’t turn you into an object, either, so don’t try and pull the OMG BUT SHE HAS NO RIGHTS WHEN SHE’S KIDNAPPED ;_; card. Objects aren’t loved by entire nations, heralded as royalty or anything comparable. If there is objectification, it’s strictly on the side of the villain perpetrating it, not the player, developers or main character.

I think the video linked on one of the first pages summarized it really well, would you not want to do all in your power to save a love one if they were in a similar predicament? Does the precedence of your mother, sister or girlfriend being kidnapped and then having help sent to find her turn her into an object? No, it turns her into a dearly loved human being that you want to protect at all costs, yet you’d likely feel the same if it was your father, brother or boyfriend. Yet on the flipside, what if you didn’t give any fucks and just let them remained captured? Just shrugged it off and went ''eh, they’re empowered, they can handle it."? You’d be the biggest cunt going and get unrelenting abuse and death threats if it was well known by society.

Not gonna lie but I did that secret ending in Shadow Complex and left it at that. Best ending ever.

I don’t know. I won’t play Streets of Rage 2, because Adam is kidnapped and you have to rescue him. Like an OBJECT.

You know they only made the game like that because they’re scared of his sexuality.

I know I personally wake up and kick my girls ass before breakfast because I hate women sooooo much. In fact I bizitches so much I might turn gay just to deny them the pleasure of recieving my kawk.

Edit: both kawks cause I am a shark.

I never said I (is that enough asterisk emphasis for you?) personally get flamed more than everyone else.

I said sexist comments towards women are more accepted and encouraged.

They made SOR2 to give Expander to the masses

What women? Where are these women at on this site that are the targets of this heinious act?

Outside of GD woman are treated like gods and get free trips to Japan to take pictures. Inside GD only you tend to get “harassed”
