When Servbots aren't Enough: Tron MvC3 Team-Building thread

my alt team is Viper- burning kick/Tron- fire/Doom- rocks. Viper-Tron DHCs ridiculously well in the corner with bar, which Viper has no problem building on her own without expending meter. three bars = dead character after DHC’ing into tron’s King Servbot, standing H xx lunchtime. doom rocks assist cover square jump H. and of course, free combo for viper if tron assist hits. rocks assist also works with the tron clakey D combo.

I’m playing a new team of Tron/Dante/Trish.

Order generally switches a lot because of matchups. Main thing about this team is 3 way DHC glitch. All 3 can start and end it, so it’s pretty nifty. Anytime I touch you with 1 meter, you’re dead or close to it.

Weakest character damage wise is Trish since she can’t get anything from throws/air throws, but she can just zone around and land one dive kick and it’s pretty much lights out for that character.

Heres the next vid for building a team around tron
It stars chris … no pun intended

Hello Tron boards,

So I’ve been maining Zero / Sentinel / Phoenix for awhile and have finally made the decision to drop Phoenix and put Tron in the team instead. The only question now is the order. I know that you guys love Tron so it makes sense to put her second so that drones can help you pull off the Clakey D combo but I frequently DHC into Plasma Storm from Zero’s Rekkoha and am not sure that Lunch Time would work as well. Anyone on here have any advice on what order for this team?

Zero, Tron, Sent is going to be the best order. You can Clakey D off of one of Zero’s assists also. Instead of DHCing from Lunch Rush rush to Plasma Storm you can go into Sentinel force and relaunch (only if you’re close to the corner). The best setup would be to end a combo with Beacon Bomb->King Servbot and DHC Glitch from there. Also if Zero is starting to get banged up you can swap him out for Tron and you can DHC Glitch back into Zero(King Servbot x Sougenmu) and nail a 100%.

@Boeyoyo Thanks a lot for the info man! This team’s sounding pretty strong!

I would have gone with Tron/Zero/Sent personally. That actually used to be my old team and it was very good. Tron can start DHC glitch to either Zero or Sent, Sentinel Force assist is great for both characters, touch of death combos everywhere, etc.

First person to use Skrull with Tron, I guess.

I picked Skrull because Tenderizer is one of the few assists, besides Fire Bottle and Sent Charge that allow you to shoot the gun and keep them trapped in the air. I use a variation of Clakey D’s Tron combo with the Tenderizer. I also use Dorm in the back with Dark Hole. I use this for mid-screen OTG, P2, Super, I also use it for corner if I can’t use Skrull.

Tron/Skrull/Dorm :I

I play Tron (b) Arthur (b) (y) Viewiful Joe (a) (b) tron as my battery , arthur meter user, view for meterbuilding and assist.
the team goes well together. and thc go well together. Thanks

Ive been using Mag(EM)Tron(fire)Wesker(lower shot). I like to use tron on point with a strong assist so I build at least 2 meters and do a BnB combo with Mag so i can DHC from his Shockwave or Tempest into her Lunch time super.

Here’s my team:

That team seems really ****ing hard to use. Do people often snap in your Doom?

Only really good players snap in my Doom, presumably because they think I’m going to use level 3 x factor… which is rarely ever the case. Tron lvl 1 xf is so good, and doom xf2 with haggar behind him is also really good. After people play me enough they recognize that Tron is my best character and end up just killing her instead… :3

In an effort to level up my anchor Tron, Ive been messing with a Tron-on-point team and fucking loving it: Tron Sent Haggar. 900k+ for landing a Lariat is good shit! Anyway, my question is if you guys have any good Tron block strings, both for non-pushed and pushed. My brain is telling me to string into a fwd+M then jump cancel into something, but I don’t believe it to be safe. I’m gonna see if she can super jump cancel the fwd+M, but not sure if that’ll help that much. Stringing into RDP+attack isn’t safe either unless I have the presense of mind and ability to call drones right before going into it. Thoughts?

PS. I’m thinking of calling the team Team Alaska, cause it’s got a whole lot of anchorage LOL

Drones and Lariat make great assists for Tron. Good luck with your team. be sure to check out some of my tron combos using lariat too, there might be something new in there in the video a few posts up

As for block strings: don’t bother with jump canceled stuff, and I don’t think sj works either. Try to end in cr.H or boulder or something for the frame advantage.

Dude, the one thing I need is a BNB with Lariat as the OTG pickup in case I start a combo off landed drones. I will def be checking out your combos! I just played this team online a bit after posting the above. TOO FUCKING FUN. I dunno how good it actually is, but the team is a BLAST to play. Such great assist synergy! Though maybe I’m just excitable since I’ve played Tron with no assists for the last 5 months.

I did notice my BNBs dropping now and again in combat at 2 points (where in training they never did): After ground combo to flame to jcMMH land HS, sometimes the H whiffed, leaving me just spinning. Maybe I was late on it, but it didn’t feel like it. And I’m canceling the sM to fwd+M right away so shouldn’t be due to hit stun deterioration <shrug>. The other point I got some drops was after launching to sj MMHS, several times the air H would whiff, leaving me spinning (must be theme night). I again assume it’s a speed issue (hitting air sequence too fast or too slow), but the whole thing was flawless in training. Any ideas why they might’ve dropped during a fight? The opposing characters were small (Joe and Jill in this instance), but that shouldn’t matter I wouldn’t think. The spacing was just right. <re-shrug>

Edit: Another quick question… Tron have any particularly good welcome setups for snaps or post-kills? I always do a DP+M with solo tron into random whatevers. With this team I feel like I should have some actual finesses, and if I’m gonna take it seriously, def need something to blow up Phoenixes. Like maybe call drones, then DP+M, then something? Seems hard to fly over or under them in time. Kinda need a good setup for Sent too, but that’s not Tron-thread appropriate :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay.

For f.M jc.MMH land s.HS, you have to delay j.MMH slightly so that you hit j.H on your way down so you can land enough to use s.H. I personally just use s.M because you definitely have multiple hits to confirm into s.S. It isn’t an issue of hit stun deterioration as much as it is timing.

For s.S sj.MMHS it varies with characters. I struggled with this for a long time, especially against characters like Wolverine. You need to delay before you start hitting sj.MM because your sj.H will come out on your way to the peak of your sj too fast, causing you to whiff above the opponent. If you delay the sj.MM closer to the apex of your jump, your sj.MMH will be more or less closer together vertically, if that makes sense.

For your welcome setups, watch my video. I show one of them. Normally what I do is I either call missiles or QCF+H to force them to block. Don’t bother with the servbot launchers (DP+M). Drones or Beacon Bomb is better. Once you force them to block, you can cross under on the next snap in. In any case, forcing them to block keeps them in the corner, where you want them.

Look up Kerahime for his tron combos, I believe he uses drones as well.

Thanks, that was all extremely helpful! Was just watching kerahime too, but he and his opponent were great fun to watch! (A zero doom sent player) for the. JMMHS rather than delay starting the combo, I’m just doing the MM portion slower and its workin great. But new issue arrises: the otg. With. Drones. Now midscreen, on dash up, should this always be doable with proper timing? Or is it corner only? Also in the corner sometimes its dropping anyway. I’m sure ill figure it out, but might as well ask anyway: is there a certain way it needs to be done? I call drones as I hit the down H, and tend to let the cH hit a few times before going to fwd H. It usuually works fiine, but sometimes drops during the cH fwd H. Wondering if u knew why. Again, ill prob figure it out, but nothing wrong with being spoon fed a lil  thanks again! God this team is fun as fugg

I dont use drones assist so i am not sure, but look for ‘clakey d combo’ tutorials that incorporate drones. i believe it works anywhere on screen.
