When Servbots aren't Enough: Tron MvC3 Team-Building thread

Arthur(Fire Bottle/Point)
Tron Bonne(Gustaff Fire)
Doctor Doom(Hidden Missiles)

god this topic is dead…

Right now I’m trying to use Zero (y) Doom (a) Tron (b) I’m not having to much success with tron’s cr.H f.H otg combo using doom’s plasma beam. I read here that its easier with rocks assist. Is there any combo that uses plasma beam. Because thats a really good assist for zero and i don’t want to change it.

For a while now my team has been Tron(b)/Sent(a)/Morrigan(y), and despite the fact that there’s no true point character, it allows me to mess around with the order. Tron on point can provide some nasty combos with the free meter from Morrigan, and you can use Beacon bomb to set up the DHC trick with Hyper Sentinel Force. Additionally, you can go for an air exchange from Tron to Sent if you want to mix up your tactics, and then DHC back into Tron from HSF with Lunch Rush.

Also, Morrigan is a crazy good anchor. I haven’t had the time to perfecting flight cancels yet, but double-Morrigan level 3 Xfactor, plus a level 3 super that can be comboed into off any standing or jumping H, as well as other moves like jumping shadow blade. Only real problem with this team is that I can’t utilize Tron (b) assist as much, but if you use DHCs well with your free Morrigan meter, it’s easy enough to switch between Tron and Sent on point quite frequently to utilize both of their assists.

For anyone using Tron on a team with Amaterasu, I discovered that you can use the DHC trick to burn some meters with Tron if you want to. Land an air throw with Ammy (we all know how easy this is sometimes lol), immediately use slow super, then DHC right away into Servbot Surprise (aka King Servbot/Kobun). I haven’t seen a single case where this won’t connect (as long as you don’t screw up the DHC). Then, if you can or need to, use Servbot Takeout (lunch rush) the moment Servbot Surprise is done and it will combo.

It spends 3 meters, but does more damage than any level 3 hyper will (around 550k), and if you’re really out for blood you can X-factor the lunch rush and finish off any character easily.

If you’re in the corner (or if your opponent is very high in the air), you can j.S for a ground bounce + beacon bomb to continue the combo with even more hypers, or just follow up with a drill and go into the combo of your choice. The slow down opens up a lot of options for combos.

Has anyone tried tapping into the zoning part of Trons game? She can use rocks which defeat nearly any zoning character at mid screen, control the air with servbots ( especially medium), and gustaff flame as a semi invincible anti air that you can probably jump cancel into a combo if done at the correct height.

Something like Tron(b)/ Taskmaster (y), Arthur( B). With this team Tron can zone effectively and wait for her opponent to make a mistake for one of her big money maker combos. With the massive health pools and damage potential of the first two characters its a scary team and they are both batteries so Arthurs def having 3+ bars coming in.

In the corner you can do: cr.H f.H and call Doom’s plasma beam assist right after you press f.h since he has a little startup on the beam. Then immediately use King Servbot once Bandit Boulder finishes and it should catch the person before they hit the ground.

Also Zero’s Shippuga assist can be used for Tron as well, just wait until the second hit of the 3 hits from Bandit Boulder connects, then call Zero and do either L or H Beacon Bomb depending if you’re midscreen or in the corner, you can pretty much call Zero at anytime between the second and third hit of Bandit Boulder when in the corner, it just has to be between the two. I personally prefer to use Zero to combo into King Servbot since his assists are mostly useless anyway, and I can use Doom to catch people while I’m coming at them with Tron.

Hope that helps.

Sent drones are good too to help Tron OTG combo if you call him on the down H. Too bad he’s a steaming pile of Monkey crap with an “insta overhead me” sign on his forehead. hahahahahahaha

ok I’ve been running a tron/x23 combination (something clakey d use to run) and I like it a lot. X23 can keep combos going with her OTG Ankle Slice, but I don’t know who should be used in the final spot. I could use the entire C’D format and pick morrigan for meter build, but I don’t know how to use morrigan all that well. I’ve been alternating between Sentinel, Taskmaster, etc. I have no idea who I should go with.

I tried to use this team, but the problem is Tron and X23 have trouble getting in without the help of an offensive assist. I’m torn between Task, Ironman, Doom, Storm, or Hulk as offensive assists.

yeah I noticed that a lot also, I just hate that all my teams have sentinel on it. I tried out taskmaster and he’s not bad actually, drones is definitely superior though.

I’m using Tron(b)/Sentinel(a)/Phoenix(a). Having Phoenix on my team has been interesting. My opponents are usually so concerned about Phoenix that Tron and Sentinel get openings that the usually wouldn’t. I can one touch kill with Tron but Phoenix is always their main concern. Opponents will constantly end combos early to snap in Phoenix which is okay with me because then I have Phoenix with two great assists. Any thoughts on this team?

I’m thinking of something like this, but I want Wesker (Samuri), Tron (Gunstaff), Phoenix (Overdrive). I’ve been using Haggar (Lariat) at 2nd, but it gets extremely annoying against nearly anyone with a projectile. Tron is at least fast, can do just as much damage, but does Tron truly use meter? I like the invincibility with her assist, which is great for helping Wesker getting in and countering rush down and she’s another tank. Thoughts also?

right now im running tron(drill)/wolverine(barrage)/doom(rocks) i use wolverine for dhc trick and tron drill to extend my wolvie combo from the dhc trick. im using doom rocks to clakey d combo. i want to replace wolverine with a character that is able to pull off the dhc trick but also has an assist i can use to help me get in as i have to save doom rocks for my clakey combo. do you guys have any suggestions?

The obvious choice is Sentinel-? since the drones eat up space and you can do HSF for the DHC glitch. Ammy-? would also be good since Cold Star gives good lockdown. However, I would say that you can use Doom rocks to cover your approach and then use another character as an extension for Tron combos. Something like IAD j.H + rocks, and then an OTG assist to end the combo or DHC glitch.

I used to run a She-Hulk/Wesker/Tron team and you can use She-Hulk to set up unblockables and Wesker for any DHC glitch tomfoolery. If you manage to get a hit in without using She-Hulk, then you basically score yourself a CKC if you DHC glitch to Wesker.

lol, this is almost the team that I’m running right now. I use Phoenix-? because it’s probably the least risky assist to help Tron get in (frankly, using Phoenix as an assist at all is a ballsy move) and you can Lunch Rush after a combo using that assist (if you didn’t use it to get in). Gustaff Fire is awesome for countering rushdown and setting up traps with Wesker (i.e.: L -> M -> H+Tron Assist, c.L -> etc.) and helps Phoenix as well. Wesker-Tron in general is a great combination, and they both build lots of meter for Phoenix.

As of right now I have a Zero/Tron/Sentinel team. Picked her up about 2-3 weeks ago since I found my other teams were lacking a character that has a good rush-down assist and pretty high in health.

I find that the B Assist from Zero works well as a good projectile for Tron and Y Assist from Set to get some DHC combos in.

She also works well with my team so far. Her A Assist helps me greatly by helping my Zero get in and start a good rush-down/lock-down.

I’ll try to post some vids of me playing to see if anyone has any criticism about my team.

I need advice!

Hello all, I am having a bit of trouble deciding who my 3rd should be…

I use Tron/Zero as my mains. I like Tron on point since her BnB into DHC glitch - Sougenmu Sentsuizan loop is pretty much a touch of death on any character from any hit. I have no problem with execution for Tron’s BnB and I can do Zero’s buster combos pretty reliably.

This is where my problem lies. I’m having trouble deciding whether to use Danter or Akuma as my anchor. IMO they both make great anchors individually with lvl3 x-factor, but I’m mainly looking at the assist. Dante let’s me extend combos with my mains much much easier and allows for more damaging BnB’s. I haven’t done exact math, but I believe some of my combos would kill certain characters only if I have Jam Session as opposed to Akuma’s tatsu for my combo extenders.

On the other hand, Akuma’s Tatsu is greater than Jam Session for helping me land a hit against turtles with Tron, I feel like I have trouble finding openings against defensive minded players.

So my dilemma - Death Combos that otherwise might not kill/are easier to land off OTG --OR-- Coverage when trying to mount an offense

This is my first 2D game let alone Marvel game so I’m not exactly sure what is more paramount in this game.

I’m open to suggestions for other anchors as well. Thanks so much! :coffee:

If this is your first 2d game I’d say pick akuma. Much less work to play than dante. Also a better assist for tron IMO.

i’m sort of new to this whole team building thing. i usually just pick characters that i like, but now i’m trying to take it a little more seriously and i’m looking for a little critiquing. i created a new team using tron, wolvie, spencer i have either spencer or wolverine out first. i like using tron’s gustaf fire, but altogether the assists in this team doesn’t feel as potent as if i had dante’s jam session or doom’s rocks. is this team doomed to fail? and how can i correct it?

So far I am liking my Wesker (Samurai Edge Low Shot)/Akuma (Tatsu)/Tron (Gustaf Fire) team. Akuma’s Tatsu really helps Tron’s combos.

Making this series to help shed some light on the choosing other characters for a tron team situation.
Here is one for wesker

I hope it’s good enough because I plan to make one per character
