And what’s Warriors Fate full of? Haters?
Alvin Lee will provide artwork for the Marvel Adventures comic offered next Saturday during Free Comic Book day. Walk into a comic book shop that day and pick it up, FOR FREE! :woot:
With all of the hype surrounding SF IV, I’ve been reading all of my Street Fighter comics again. Can’t wait for 3rd Strike comics to come out!
Pimp.
The Darkstalkers comic is really good in my opinion. Awesome artwork (of course), nice plot that follows the game storyline very well and since only one volume has been published (so far), it acts as a really nice set up and introduction to both the games and the series as a whole. Production is on hiatus at the moment, only because Udon wants to find the right people to continue the series and because they are concentrating on Street Fighter so much at the moment.
Rival Schools was good, but not successful at all. Udon originally planned to do four issues and then compile those into a graphic novel, but only two issues were ever produced due to low sales. I’m wondering if it has to do with the fact that Rival Schools isn’t AS popular as Street Fighter. The main reason I point to is the fact that REY was the guy behind that series (dude who drew all the gag comics for SF and DS). His art style is just such a large departure from Alvin Lee’s style that it must have been a major turn off for a lot of people, myself included in a sense (that and he worked in black and white). The Udon guys hyped it up like the other series, but it just went nowhere sadly.
I want Omar D. to do most of the art for the SFIII comic…AT LEAST.
BTW we got a date yet or what?
Omar Dogan will be doing the SF Legends Chun-Li comic while Joe NG will be doing the SF3 comic.
No dates yet but Udon did say Summer 2008 and Summer started 5 days ago, hopefully we will hear something soon.
It did? Getting a little ahead of yourself there Sano? I 'm sure you want it to come just as much as the rest of us, but there’s been no solstice this year yet.
Lol I thought Summer started because they said “THE SUMMER STARTS WITH IRON MAN!” during commercials and the movie came out. What be this calender that doesn’t envolve a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 character that you speak of?
BTW DR Masters is releasing a King of Fighters art book in comic shops this week.
…wait I thought it was-
December to Feb.=Winter
March to May=Spring
June to Aug=Summer
Sept to Nov.=Autumn
…no offense BTW, still um…mind posting links to where I can see samples of Joe NG’s art plz?
Since you asked nicely, oh wait a minute, no you didn’t… Ta dah…

Nah no hate or anything lol! I don’t know if Joe Ng has a website or anything like that honestly.
Hmm maybe Marvel should of said the Summer starts with Hulk 2, that other MVC2 character getting a movie this year in June, heh.
^Thanks for the link, ATM I’m not liking his art much, but that might change after reading his the first issue. Thanks anyway
Sure thing!
The KOF Art Book that came out this week was very cool, it features a lot of KOF Hong Kong comic book covers, from about KOF 2001 and up. Some of the drawings are pretty dope!
Devil’s Due will put out Capcom based comics of Lost Planet and Bionic Commando! And there’s two more Capcom titles from Devil’s Due on the way! :woot:

And from the same thread, a post from Udoneko on the current state of things -
*"You asked for me, and here I am!
First off, congratulations on DDP on making the new deal with Capcom!
Regarding your questions -
It is unfortunate, that EXALTED did not perform well in the comic stores. We have more trades ordered that the actual comic by the end of the run. This actually kinda tells you where the market is shifting in most of the licensed books (non Marvel and DC)…
We are trying to do something to finish off Rival Schools. That book doesn’t even generate enough orders to justify a trade… but there’s something in the works that if it happens, you will see the final 2 issues of RS. I know there has been a lot of debates on having Rey doing the art, and making the book B/W instead of colors. And I know some of you hated that decision, and some of you liked it. So for the fans who has supported us thus far, just hang on for a little bit longer.
Kanzaki’s Street Fighter Manga Volume 2 has been printed for over a month now, but due to some process at Diamond it got stuck in these order adjustment stage and is actually shipping to them this coming week. Volume 3 is being printed and will be shipped off in about 2 to 3 weeks time pending not printers delay.
While we are still plugging away on the SFHD job, we have Chamba getting a head start on SF Turbo (continuing from the pages of SFII the comic), and line art for issue 1 is actually done! Given our past track record, we wanna stock up a little bit before putting them out."*
That’s good news I guess. Every book retailer is stumped as to why the book’s stuck in their databases with a release year of 2007.
Oh and I changed the thread title in honor of Devil’s Due about to start 4 Capcom titles down the line. Well, truth be told I’ve been talking about non SF comics, sometimes even non Capcom ones like KOF on this thread for a long time now. I figure if it’s characters that appeared in a Capcom game or if Udon’s involved in one project or another somehow it’s all good to mention it here and give people a head’s up.
I just hope Devil’s Due does better with Capcom properties than Dreamwave did, Devil May Cry aside since that was pretty decent. Devil Due’s previous Killer 7 comic wasn’t bad but that artwork had to go ooooh…
thanks,Sano, for the info. I see the street fighter 2 comics is mentioned and being worked on now, but what about the sf 3 comics, aren’t they going to rotate month to month with the two???
They are supposed to rotate with the three books, those two and the SF Legends Chun-Li book. I’m not sure if it is exactly rotating but more like having 3 books on hand so whenever Diamond ships their books late there will at the very least be one SF book on the racks every month. Hopefully things will work out well for Udon the next go around.
I imagine the basis of the Bionic Commando comic will be on the new game, not the one where Hitler gets shot in the face. And as far as the other two titles, my only hopes are for Cyberbots and Red Earth.
(gasp) Really? Hope this is true. I’ll admit I was a little displeased when the project was given to Rey (after seeing Alvin work on the original teaser comic) but I grew to respect that decision. Given the shortcomings, or even lack thereof, Rey’s done a pretty good job. I imagine that by keeping with the four issue structure of the series, it would only conclude as an individual story arc. It would be tough for me to see if anything else would come out after those four issues (if the other two come out at all), but I’d really like to support it either way.
Studio Udon’s dropping two mahnwa books this week, Star Project Chiro Vol. 3 and something new called Daring Students Association.
I’ve always been confused as to why Udon thought Exalted and/or Rival Schools would do well. It always seemed like wasted effort which could have been more properly channeled into the vastly more popular and in demand SF series…
As a Street Fighter fan, I would love to just do Street fighter comics. As a publisher that wants to grow, we have to try different things. That is why there are other books, mangas, artbooks, korean manhwas, etc that UDON is publishing now.
But unlike other publishers, I want to bring only the stuff that I feel is GOOD to publish under the UDON banner. It has to be something that I feel that if the customers bought it, they will like.

P.S. Okami and Mega Man Zero artbooks are finally arriving! yes, I know they are way way way past the original dates. A LOT of extra work has been done to make sure all terms and translations are correct, and it does take way longer than we expect on this process. But the end product is something I am very proud of. And becoz of the extra time we spent on editorial, it also give me a chance to experiment with our printer on some special FX for the cover. If you see the book in stores, you will see what I mean. Both artbook features holoo-foil enhancements on the covers!!!
