When is the next STREET FIGHTER or CAPCOM related comic coming out?

Here’s a preview of Udon’s translation of the Street Fighter Alpha manga I came across on Capcom’s website. I still don’t know when it will be out or anything though. Click on the cover to check out the first few pages.

*Capcom Primo for Prima

Prima games, a division of Random House (the same parent company responsible for the Del Rey graphic novel line), has landed a graphic novel deal of its own: they’ll be the exclusive publishing source for graphic novels and other projects based on Capcom’s videogames.

“Capcom has a great reputation for creating some of the most storied franchises in video game history,” Debra Kempker, president of Prima Games, said. “We look forward to bringing these franchises to video game fans through guides, comics, and other published works.”

While strategy guides are a key part of the deal, comics fans will be most interested in the original graphic novels. Other publishing ventures include novelizations and calenders.

“By working with one of the largerst trade publishers in the world, we are excited about the unlimited potential of our greatly expanded publishing program,” Tommy Yoshida, vice president of licensing for Capcom Entertainment, Inc., said.

Capcom properties include Resident Evil, Mega Man, Devil May Cry and Shade. Acclaimed comics writer Marv Wolfman will write the novelization and original graphic novel for Shade; no there creators have been named, but once they they are, you’ll hear about it in CSN. *

Does this mean Udon lost their contract with Capcom? I R confuzled.

Udon’s making HD Sprites and Backgrounds for downloadable ST for the Xbox 360 and PS3 so no, wouldn’t lose sleep over it. All it means is that Del Rey will tackle some of Capcom’s properties, like the Shade novel that was mentioned. This is similar to Devil’s Due was making the comic based on Killer 7 while Studio Udon was putting the Street Fighter II comic out. Or you can look at it as early on when Studio Udon started out doing SF Dreamwave was putting out Devil May Cry, Mega Man and Maximo comics at the same time.

Well hopefully those guys will do a better job than Dreamwave.

And is it wrong that I want to see a God Hand comic?

RANDOM - Much like the Devil May Cry Graphic File that came out recently, there’s a new Darkstalkers artbook called ‘Vampire Graphic File’ that came out in Japan. I placed an order for it and will review it here when I recieve it. If anyone’s interested -

^ that looks pretty sweet. Might have to get that sometime soon. Anyone if this Street Fighter Good vs Evil poster is out yet?

Not too sure but I thiiiiink it’s out. There’s at least a few places selling it online already, like this one -

I’ll see if I spot it at a comic book shop…

Just got my copy and it’s great! :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

If you own Capcom Illustrations, Capcom Early Days and Capcom Design Works there isn’t much in the way of new gaming artwork that isn’t in those books already. There’s about 2 pieces that I’m not too sure of having seen in one book or another but I tend to be mistaken about stuff like that when it’s very few images - hard to keep track mentally of all the DS images in artbooks lol!

They do however group together the portraits of the characters from their Capcom crossover appearances! Puzzle Fighter, Pocket Fighter, MVC1, MVC2, CVS1, CVS2 and CFJ!

There’s also some rare stuff, the two sketches of Morrigan’s father Belail that have not been seen in another Capcom book since Capcom Illustrations!

The best thing is they have all of the rejected character designs for all of the characters, these are really great! I’m talking for example 10 alternate renditions of Demitri, 8 of them in color! One of them even looks a little like Jedah heh heh! Oh, and Lilith’s very early designs as an angel (originally she was going to be an angel but Capcom decided against it due to their being too many angel girls from other Japanese companies at the time) featured in Capcom Early Days!

Artwork from their video game endings - check!

OH HELL NO they did not forget about the alternate / powered up versions of Bishamon, Gallon / Talbain, the Marionette, Soul Stealer, and Dee of Vampire Collection! You even get to see Dee artwork! :lovin:

They show covers of all of the Vampire/Darkstalkers All About books, all of the Vampire manga (Itoh Mami IN DA HOUSE!), all CD mucic covers and even all of the covers from Studio Udon’s Darkstalker comics! Here’s a blurb on the OVA series too and they picture a whole lot of DS toys too!

THIS BOOK RULES! If you even remotely like Darkstalkers and don’t get this book YOU ARE A COMMUNIST! This is like the SF Eternal Challenge Book of Darkstalkers but not as much text (which is good for me since I can’t read Japanes lol!) Anyway, I give it 11 out of 10 stars, I’d score it higher but that would be too much! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT’S HOLY GO GET THIS BOOK!

the Vampire art book is great… it would be even better if its in english… right? hee…

OH HELL YES! That would be great man!

actually, since I am here, I mind as well give you guys an update of whets going on at the UDON front -

You all know by now, that we are working on redrawing the WHOLE Super SF turbo game. We have been talking to Capcom and working on making this happen for some time now, only, of coz, we can’t say anything until it’s announced. We are all very excited that we will be redefining the visuals of our fav game! The whole crew is working on it, including (at least the following): Alvin Lee, Arnold Tsang, Andrew Hou, Long Vo, Omar Dogan, Joe Ng, Kevin Lau, Noi Sackda, M3TH, Espen Grundetjern, Jim Zubkavich, Rob Ruffolo, Ken Siu-Chong, and myself. That means we are ALL tied up to this job for at least the next 5 - 6 months. So unfortunately, we wont be able to do another issue of Sf Comic until we are done.

We have not stopped planning thou. While the artists are working on the game, me and Ken has already plotted out our next Sf legends: Chun Li story for all 4 issues. Then we are moving onto plotting out the turnament arc, which will be interesting coz we are also updating the game endings, we are planning to possibly tie in our comic story with what we are doing in the game (whenever possible).

In the mean time, we are putting out a bunch of SF manga to give you your SF fixes. SF Alpha #1 by Masahiko Nakahira will be shipped within these 2 weeks (they are already at Diamond warehouse!!) For those going to Anime North next week, you will be able to pick up a copy there too! And don’t forget later, we will have SFII - unaltered and uncut by Masaomi kanzaki, and Sakura Ganbare also by nakahira! End of the year, you will see RYU Final!

And we will be attending San Diego Comic Con again, of coz with some exclusive goodies! Will keep you posted on what they are soon!

alright ERIK

Hey EriK,

will the original characters from the Street Fighter I game be included into the new version of SFII? I’d love to see them again…

Not gonna happen.

“Features all seventeen of the original Super Street Fighter II Turbo characters including Ryu, Guile, M. Bison and Akuma”

My reason for tossing up this link is originally Lost made a typo saying ther would be 18 characters, so he had to go back, edit his post and confirm that there would only be 17.

And there won’t be any changes to the game itself, (the changes are regarding character sprites, backgrounds, endings, etc. - it will play exactly the same) so there won’t be any additional characters. Recomended reading:

According to Midtown Comics the Street Fighter Alpha Manga Volume 1 and the Exalted TPB come out this week!

Awesome update Erik! I love the idea of tying the comic into the endings. You couldn’t get more cannon than that.

Sounds like you guys are hard at work. Are we looking for SF HD to be a 2008 release?

It’s scheduled for a Fall 2007 release for both Xbox live Arcade (360) and Playstation Network (PS3). See the first link I posted above a few posts above.

Not stepping on toes, only answering questions for Erik because he’s a very busy guy. So long as you keep asking questions I can answer, that is…

Sure Sano, it’s great to hear your responses.

I saw the anticipated fall release date but, maybe it’s just all the set back I’m seeing with every other game I’m waiting for on PS3, I didn’t think we’d be able to download this till winter.

Well, keep us updated with any art when it becomes available!

Two questions for the Udon guys here:

  1. This is VERY last - minute, but will you be selling the North American Mega Man Zero artbook at Anime North? I’m very much looking forward to that, and as I’m also working a table at the con I’ll be bugging you guys about it, haha.

  2. As the Mega Man Zero artbook received a translation and North American release, can you comment on whether Capcom has / will be commissioning you to translate the Vampire book as well? That would totally rule if so.
