Because people who joined after Street Fighter 4 are tainted with the mark of casualfaggotry. Every full moon, we must scrub the black stain off of our elbows in order to stay holy and pure hardcore fighting gamers, or else the corruption will spread and transform other people into filthy 09ers.

Because on unfortunately the people that descended on Shoryuken came in here wishing to change the place instead of learning what it was about. They have done so through a lot of bitching, whining and moaning. A lot of amazing things have befallen the community in those years but they’ve gotten pretty beat up in the process.

Back in '09 I did notice a lot of people who thought they were good at SF complaining about every single thing under the moon present in SF4, Hurr Lariat, Hurr Sagat, Hurr SRK’ing me out of combos, etc.
It’s why I tended to keep quiet until I got decent at SF (I used to only play Tekken at the Arcade) by just paying attention to what other people post and actually playing the game.

It’s not an if you’re an 09er then you’re dumb thing, it’s an if you’re dumb and joined in 09 it’s because you’re most likely an 09er thing.
We have a good amount of 09ers who are great posters but we also have a large influx of users whose first game is SF4 and they think that it’s the first and best fighter of all time and that it saved the fighting game scene when in reality back in the day tournaments got 10,000 people but nowadays EVO is lucky to get a couple thousand.
The death of the arcade scene is why fighting games are currently dead in the US.
Because the people in the Smash sub-forum on SRK don’t want to see this Smashboards garbage.

I would think on a fighting game forum you guys would want to settle this in a game, but I don’t see any takers. If anybody wants to back up their talk, you can catch me online tomorrow on XBOX until GGPO comes back. And no, it’s not a threat. It’s an honest invite to play some games without your mouth doing the fighting for you.

You’re idea would be hard to implement. As it was pointed out, the things that would help new players have nothing to do with combos. A lot of good points were brought up as to why the idea wouldn’t be the best investment in resources but it seems you’d rather cry than re-read was what posted.
Secondly, while you may have some gripe with the way others have treated you, I am simply questioning the way you are going about things since, as you mentioned, you’ve been doing this thing since 2003. There are a lot of OG’s I haven’t heard of, but if they were saying silly stuff, I’d question what they were doing the entire time too.
Holy crap, I’m a Melee player, but I have to agree with most of the people on this thread… Why the hell are you guys trying to get their approval of smash? And why do you care if they consider it a fighting game or not? I personally consider it a fighting game of sorts, but I don’t give a damn if anyone else does. If you want smash acknowledgement, go to smashboards or something. Smash is NOT something that belongs on this site…like seriously…
