only 4? ive been playing sf2 since ww first appeared on the snes back in 92 or end 91. on the arcade and on the snes. thing is gave up on sf during those days with ssf2 being my last competetively played sf2 game. you might remember back in 93/94 ssf2t wasnt released on a home console and at the same time arcades in the NL started dying. besides when ssf2t came out i pretty much started really getting into games like ss2 and kof among other games. in all honesty sf never really did return to its glory days imo, i was on the other side now, the neo side. basically fuck capcom was the motto, that is till they came with sfa2 and sf3 series and reclaimed some honor. from me ofcourse.

and not to bitch but during the old sf2 days the one who took the leaqst risk, meaning attacked the least had a higher chance of winiing the battle.

love how sf4 sold millions of copies and people still say kof is the most played game in the world. it might have a major competitive scene in more countries than sf4 but that doesn’t make it the most played game. “kof” also isn’t a single game and different iterations are popular in different regions.

Selling millions of copies =/= most played game. It’s been proven time and time again.

And yes, in this case, KoF is the most played. It’s not the most popular sales-wise but it is the most played series, mainly because of reasons that came up early in the thread (i.e., bootlegging).

no the term I was seeking was the one I used, air footsies. I don’t see how this is so hard to understand. Some of the same interaction for footsies happen in the air, aka air footsies. I don’t know who only said footsies HAVE to happen on the ground. While the term was mostly used for SF here in the states @ least, other games do have footsie as well as OTHER forms of footsie due to games being more complex than SF.

while GG\MVC2 play more to the air footsie style, there are parts of KOF that apply the same type of mind set. Mind you that if you don’t play GG\MVC2 @ a good level, its hard to understand this concept since those are the only 2 games really that play to air footsies due to air mobility. Other games like vampire savior also use “air footsies” but this game is pretty much dead.

games like SF virtually have 0 air footsies due to the 1 jumping arc for most of the cast. In a game like kof, you can have up to 3 types of jumps for every character. Since there are more arcs in the air, there is an air footsie game taking place. @ least more so than it is in SF.

Regarding the OP, are you asking about the most played fighting game series, or one specific game?

Because if it’s one specific game, I doubt KOF could come out on top. There are too many popular KOFs for any of them to beat out Tekken 6 or (Super/) Street Fighter IV. I think, at the moment, 97, 98, 2002, 98UM and 2002UM are all popular in some place or other. Not to mention all the bootlegs.

But if you mean game series, it might be KOF. But it’s really just an educated guess on my part.

Don’t know exactly how it was invented or where it started, but footsies is either a sex or kid’s game that you play by sitting down and putting the soles of your feet against somebody else’s and play with theirs. If played to violently control space, it can kind of turn into a kicking match. Maybe somebody saw street fighter characters trying to edge each other out using crouching shorts, forwards and sweeps whenever they got close to each other and made the connection, then it stuck.

KOF pretty much is the most played Franchise, but its hard to name a most played VER of the game in the world. People have preference and not everyone plays the same KOF.

in sf its pretty much ssf2t, sf3ts and sfa 2/3. obviously the sf4 series as their new. same will go for kof 13 when its out as it will be the newest true kof in years.
