What's the longest you tolerated a bad show or movie/game series?

I used to read a ton of x-men comics, and quit after the zero tolerance story line. I felt like they did some really cool shit with it, and then fucked it all up when bastion surrendered at the end. I mean, this was a story line where wolverine ran through the desert because he caught Jubilee’s scent from an open door like 2 miles away. He proceeds to rip the base apart to find her. The X-Men get fucked up, they introduce a new class of sentinal, cool characters, and they fucked it all up.

Xenogears. I put like 45 hours into it. The story went no where. Maybe one day I"ll finish.

FFXII. Put 60 hours into it until I got to Arcadia and had to play a shit ton of mini games just to get a token to board a train. After that I tossed the game on the shelf and never played it again. 60 hours and the story went no where.

Shows are tough because sometimes things DO indeed get better even after a long time of mediocrity (a lot of people are saying Smallville on here, but it actually got a lot better around Season 8-9 when it started to embrace the DC universe. Get past the budget and the length of time, and it’s pretty decent, plus Erica Durance in the first episode of this last season…yeah…enough to warrant people to stay around until the end).

If I had to pick a show…probably DBGT myself, yeah. Just so much bad.

Game? Assassin’s Creed 1…I put up with it even though it got SOOOO boring, just so I could get the story for AC2. I will say it was worth it because it helped the understanding for AC2 and AC2 was great.

Movie? Should we really count movies? I mean, if we know it’s a bad movie, you’re only going to see it once and how many people are going to just stop watching a movie halfway through (unless you see it first on TV or something). If I go to a theatre or have a DVD I’m going to watch it the whole way through. My best example? I don’t know, Mortal Kombat Armageddon? I mean, normally we should be expecting failure with VG movies, but since the first one was actually decent (always watch when it’s on), this one…just ugh. Still watch it though, I don’t know why, it’s like a trance.

But honestly, sometimes it’s good for us to try and sit through bad things. Makes us appreciate it more if it DOES get better, or at the least appreciate other good things.

^ I plowed my way through Assassin’s Creed too… not sure who thought the idea of recycling the same set of missions and towns to make up the entirety of the game was a good idea. Then they slap you at the end by taking a game supposedly emphasizing stealth and avoiding combat by sticking you in multiple gigantic clusterfuck brawls.

Same. They had a neat trick of coming up with something interesting or cool then fucking it over within a few episodes. If it hadn’t been cancelled I’d probably still watch that crap.

What else…

I watched almost the entire first season of FlashForward.
The SAW franchise past the first movie.
BLEACH… I’m still reading it… too much time invested to find a real comic to read.

Oh, I played Wrath of the Lich King. Don’t know why, the expansion screwed up a lot of stuff… guess it had some positives… Looks like they’re totally fucking it over with the next one though, from what I hear.

Bleach.

I got through the Bound arc, get back to doing something fucking interesting. After episode 86 it was time to get done with it, the plot just never seemed to advance.

Game:
Street Fighter IV. For storyline and general bs I can’t go with any FF game past seven, too many cutscenes.

Movie:
Queen Latifah’s Last Holiday. There is not enough weed on this earth that could’ve made that movie bearable. My buddy and I got so weeded up that we thought it’d be a sassy black woman movie. We were dead wrong.

haha, same deal with me on the Xmen comics. Zero Tolerance was also the last time I kept up with it…that ending was terribly anticlimactic. Plus, Joe “Mad” was long gone anyway, and the new art was just “alright” so yeah…it was time to give up on the Xmen books at that point.

Also, I hate sounding like one of those “purist” fanboys, but the new look of the Marvel characters (Xmen in particular) always looked terrible to me. I miss the old blue and yellow uniforms. The movie came out and basically ruined everything. It’s like most of the artists in the industry now would rather make them realistic, or based on the movie look. If it (specifically Marvel stuff for some reason) doesn’t have the bright colors of the 90s era, I can’t really get into it.

time for more blasphemy—> One Piece. For quite some time, I was watching it simply to laugh at how silly and ugly the show looks…I was also amused by how terrible the english intro theme was. Eventually, I got tired of watching it just for laughs, and it had no other entertainment value beyond that for me. Plus, they re-worked some things with dubbing and music later so that it was more serious or something…I don’t even halfway remember…that didn’t fix the fact that the show still looks like a pile of stank ass. Visually, it’s like the embarrassing dookie stain of anime. Hell yeah I’m being shallow right now…the visual is part of what should capture my interest here…and it only captures my interest in a negative way…like if I notice the burnt corpse of a small child on the side of the road while driving to work one day.

I guess it would help if I had paid more attention to SEED. But I didn’t, so I never knew they confirmed it. 00 muhfuckas.

That 70’s Show. As soon as Donna turned into a blond, it was gameover. They introduced a new guy in(the neighbor boy from Grounded From Life) and he had great potential. His dad owned the beer factory. Then they shitted on that plan and brought in the corniest faux pas pretty boy I never wished got an acting gig. He belongs on one of those gay ass American Pie movies*. I stopped watching it until I heard the finale was coming up. Plus, I’m obsessed with Debra Jo Rupp.

American Pie 1, 2, and Wedding. I didn’t watch Stiffler’s brother and the rest of the crap.

Rush Hour 3. Should’ve known taking this many years was a sign it wouldn’t live up to the hype.

Family Matters for all the seasons, except the last. Did watch the finale, though.
Full House, for the most part.
The Nanny.
…sorry, but I became a chubby geek with shit else to do during the summer but watch bullshit and eat doritos.

edit: after reading more posts, I guess I gotta add 24 to the list. Had good shit, but after season 5, you really have to grasp those moments and hold on to them in the back of your head. Didn’t watch the last season yet, though. …actually, still contemplating that.
SAW series. hm…uberly retarded, but did come together to make sense at the last one. Here comes 3D…O M G
