What's the longest you tolerated a bad show or movie/game series?

When something jumps the shark, there’s an implication you’re supposed to stop watching. Sometimes you don’t. For whatever reason, you go along with something past the “point of no return.” Maybe you thought it would get better or something. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure. But you stayed around.

What’s the longest you’ve stayed around? What game/show/movie series kept appealing to you after it turned to shit, and why?

For me, it’s Nip/Tuck. I loved the first and second seasons, and liked the third (despite the weak carver storyline). The remaining seasons were just godawful. Do you know what the best part of them was for me? During season 4, a promo for Season 6 of The Shield came up. I rejoiced. I’m not kidding at all. Of course I couldn’t know a Shield promo would be the best part of the remaining seasons, so I kept going. When things got shitty, I only caught every other episode. I watched a little more of the final season because I wanted to see how things end. When that was over, all I could say was “bring on Justified.”*
*The FX show about the vigilante cowboy cop who got reassigned.

A close runner up (in games) is Metal Gear Online (you saw it coming; shut up). This counts because the first MGO was great, but the current one was dropped out of the Enola Gay in 1945 on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also, I stuck with it: I tried for a time to get good at it and tolerate it, thinking more skill would make things better. No dice.

World of Warcraft.

imo.

dynasty warriors
easily

Heroes post Season 1

Fighting Force 2. Played that game to the very end and hated every minute of it.

Gigli. Yeah, I watched it all…

State of Emergency. I actually finished it. Dear god what have I done to myself…

…I’m still watching Smallville

i’m undecided on whether not i still like house or not now that he’s “cleaned” up, so i guess a season so far…i think naruto is pretty dumb as fuck right now but i keep reading bcuz i have to know how it ends and it only takes 5 mins/week to follow.

Dragonball GT. I tortured myself from the beginning thinking it would be halfway decent. To be fair it got a lot better near the end so it was probably worth it.

Final Fantasy.

Sue me.

Bad show: American Idol

Bad Movie series: Scary Movie and all its spinoffs

Game series: Tekken (started off good, but got stupid later on, and hasn’t stopped since.)

Finished up to Heroes Season 2

Watched Gundam Seed Destiny until the VERY END  :wasted:
I heard that the voice actor for Shin is so hated in Japan that he actually gets spat on.

Code Geass.

Shit is ass.

I don’t blame them. That character was fuckin retarded. He feels he has to kill Kira by virtue of the fact that Kira killed some girl he met that decimated an entire town population damn near.

Watched all of Battlefield Earth, in a movie theatre, which only cost $1.50 to watch.

So what did I win?

14 posts and still no mention of bleach? bah…

-Dragonball GT… when it’s airing on tv for free, I figure ‘why not at least see how this ends?’, and there ya go. I hated every single thing about that era of the franchise.

-Eve’s Bayou – this was a movie. I’ve never walked out on a movie before, but I definitely thought about it on that occasion. I only stayed due to being on a date* at the time.
(*yeah, Million on a date…this definitely proves that dates don’t mean shit and anyone can get one.)

My tolerance for horrible games is quite thin. There was some side-scrolling old shootemup on Live Arcade years ago…it was an old game…I think it was from Konami or Data East(or Taito?)…I can’t even remember the name, but it was unbelievably bad. I noticed an option for “Enhanced Graphics” and selected it…and "oh wait…it’s ALREADY in enhanced graphics mode!?" Jesus H. Christ that game was just a travesty… dammit I cannot remember the name of that garbage at all (this was way back when 360 was still a fairly new system, and Geometry Wars was still the big deal on Live Arcade; I got the system in Fall 2006)…but I couldn’t stand it even being on my 360’s harddrive. I deleted it immediately after the few seconds it took to observe just how bad it was. Also, either it naturally disappeared off my “games played” list, or I deleted it once they added that option to Live.

Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon-- I played only long enough to finish the first mission and get 1 achievement. This is one of the most embarrassing, regrettable gaming purchases of my entire life. It sickens me that I actually bought this new for 40 bucks and change.

Time for Blasphemy—> Futurama. Yes, I realize that I am one of maybe 4 people in the world that doesn’t love that damn show. I gave it an honest chance…I was done with this stale crap by the 2nd or 3rd episode. It’s not looking good when there has only been 1 or 2 funny things over the course of a few episodes.

American Dad–> I couldn’t even finish watching the first episode of this. This has somehow lasted for about 5 or 6 seasons now?! What the hell is wrong with the general tv-viewing audience?

That '80s Show—> I was done with this by the 2nd or 3rd episode. I really wanted this to be good since that’s my decade!

The Daredevil movie—>Turrrrrible. I fell asleep on it at some point, and Ben Affleck looked ridiculous in that fruity costume…it only served to show off his watermelon-sized ultra-ultra headbutt-combo skull…his head is like a giant lima bean or somethin’, and Bullseye looked silly too.

This is what instantly came to mind when I read the thread title. It has been said a thousand times before, but I have to express my hate for this series. I watched the Blue Water dub (here in Canada) and was hyped like hell when it was first announced. Started watching it, and thought it was decent for a while. When baby was introduced I got really excited and thought the series would become interesting.

But the point when the torture increased tenfold was that episode where Goku got knocked into that parallel dimension by Baby’s death ball and had to play that stupid board game shit. FUCK, that shit was painful to watch. At that moment I knew the series was going to be total shit to the finale. Week after week I would watch episode after episode just hoping for something proper, but it never came. In the end I just wanted to watch each episode once because the series shared the name with the two that came before it. 80% of GT is a blur to me now.

IT WAS NEVER WORTH IT.

That kind of reminds me:

-I watched Gigli too. Just… eww.

-I watched Rush Hour 3 on TBS. That I liked the first 2 says evil things about my taste, I know, but god. How do you take everything that actually worked in the first two films, and just shit all over it? How’s that possible?

-Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I’m really shameful about this. I know realizing a game is shit and walking away within a week probably doesn’t fulfill the criteria, but I kept lying to myself before it came out. This game was showing OBVIOUS signs of suck. It wasn’t like MGO, where at least you could think it was cool until you play it. The create-a-fatalities were lame. The endings were lame. The air combo system looked goofy. They were just ripping styles from characters and putting them in new skins to get the “extra people.” ALL of this was apparent and throwing up red flags well before release day. I still held out hope though. A lesson from this: never give someone/something a rope unless you’re sure they won’t hang you with it.

Rurouni Kenshin. There’s a lot to nitpick about that series, and when they got to the “kakure kirishitan” and feng shui/geomancy arcs, i just couldn’t take any more.
