Face off against a Moloch player who knows 1,1, U+3 and see if you can say that first sentence with a straight face. At least, in MvC2, you need to know what you’re doing, even with the more broken characters. Moloch does roughly between 30-33% damage with his THREE HIT combos, even without his extremely easy infinite. He also has a deadly mix-up game with trip and an overhead hitting UNBLOCKABLE Ball Slam. It takes virtually no real skill to play characters like Moloch and win.
I do agree with you on the point of Death Traps, though.
My opinion is "If you don’t like it, don’t fall for it in the first place."
With that said, Falling Cliffs for the win.
Whoever said Frost was a God Tier in Deadly Alliance doesn’t know how to block.
At best, only mid-high tier.
Scorpion, on the other hand, is extremely broken, all because of two moves: Pi Gua’s R1 (Shove) and Hellfire. Shove creates a very effective keepaway game, and it’s always a free setup for Hellfire. Rinse, repeat.
He’s quite right.
People tend to make the unfortunate assumption that just because MK has somewhat linear (is that the correct word?) gameplay, that it also means that it takes no skill to play.
Take UMK3, for example.
Excluding Kabal, who is a headache in his own right, most serious MK matches are all about ticking and capitalising on mistakes. Most novices would fall for quite a few things in that game, but only people who really thought about this game make full use of things such as run jabs, anti-throw blocking (yes, you can avoid being thrown by holding Down-Back and Block) and juggle setups. Not to mention which moves are actually safe to use in any given situation.
Speaking of which, if you ever run across that match video between Ermac and New Sub Zero, I suggest you give it a watch. Ermac makes one serious comeback from 1% life and only 5 seconds on the clock, while having to contend with a turtling Sub Zero with a full life bar. All because of the above. Anyway, watch it, because it made me laugh my ass off.
Believe you me, I’ve seen similar sentiments all over the place wherever this game is discussed.
Unfortunately, not very likely to happen.
