Note: I’m not an advocate of MK.
Here alot of people say it’s broken, is it really?

Which one are you talking about?
Every Mortal Kombat game is brokeshit except for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. That game is brokeshit, but the thing is that EVERY FUCKING CHARACTER is brokeshit.
Many people actually credit UMK3 as being the one American fighter that plays similarly to Guilty Gear. Which, of course, it does.
Anyone in UMK3 can kick ass.
Except Sheeva, that thong-wearing transvestite fuckfart.
I used to be way into UMK3, but the lack of a good home port eventually caused me to drift away. Most MK is just awful. Street Fighter to MK is as Scorcese is to Michael Bay.
maybe if youre retarded
The 2d-based series is a lot of scrubby fun, but is pretty scrubby/limited. It also IMHO teaches you a lot of bad habits. Or at least taught me a lot of terrible habits.
umk3 = pick kabal
run jab run jab run jab, occasional wind dash thingy, mixup with throws and air fireballs.
uh huh
try that shit on EWAShock and you’ll get fucked up
I thought the beef with mk was…it kinda sucked, and got more and more ridiculous with each sequel.
The games are fun to play as evidenced by the fact that everyone here has played them.
Eh, it’s not so much that the game sucks, UMK3 & MK2 are actually pretty fun.
For me, it’s moreso that while the gameplay is so limited (up until lately, all the characters had the exact same normals), everyone swears up and down it’s better than Street Fighter “B-cuz it has BLOOD lol, Street Fighter looks cartoony!”.
It’s a shallow game based solely around a single gimmick: Violence.
Word.
I agree with this man.
There is nothing especially wrong with MK2 and UMK3.
The whole brokeshit argument is invalid, just on the fact people play MVC2 (tournament worthy game).
You could play them competitively, and it wouldn’t be random (from what I’ve seen and heard).
Unfortunately, I never really got into the MK games (I used to like MK2 alot, though).
People just hate it because they can, and also MIDWAY is hell bent on taking any worthwhile elements that still reside within the series. Kinda reminds me of the whole DOA thing.
My beef with MK is the community. Most of it is made of up of snotty kids who are too young to even buy the game.
I just never found them fun. But they always seemed to overshadow games I liked to most gamers around my area. Personally I don’t like the style of the game, the characters and the lack of options.
It doesn’t matter which MK is broken, they all are as safe as strapping bleeding chicken dicks to your own in a shark filled tank.
You are taking one weak argument and countering it with another weak argument.
People don’t understand what broken means. A game isn’t broken because it has infinites or glitches, but glitches and infinites can cause a game to be broken. A game is broken when it isn’t competitively viable. That you can leave up to interpretation, but when a community decides to create a competitive scene for a game, its competitively viable.
MK?
it sucks.
end of thread.
So shouldn’t you be saying this to Lobelia Boy and not me?
I made that comparison for the exact same reason you stated. I’m even being careful with my words right now, because I don’t want any drama. Ok? I hope I cleared that up.
Its because Ed Boon dosent see the MK games as true fighters. From all the interviews with him, he just seems to put stuff in cause he thinks it looks cool. I like some of the designs for the characters (movado is my fav, bungie cords FTW!) If Boon would bring in some people who know how to make a good fighting game engine then it could work out.
