how is MK trilogy (PS1) viewed as?
MK titles have no where near the staying power of the SF games either. I can still go back and have fun with the first SFII, but not MK1 it is just dull to me now.
Also can’t really stand the graphics anymore either.
Vibrant 2D sprites & effects > Dry digitized stuff
umk3 is godlike.
all my love for the MK series is pretty much just running off of nostalgia now (mainly MK2 on the Genesis)
the newer games aren’t very good (and usually bug ridden) and community comes off as being VERY shallow and closed minded. and that’s putting it nicely.
Same here. If ever i go to play an MK game these days it is done out of PURE nostalgia value, which is very brief.
Mortal Kombat is like the “fad” of fighting games. It showed up during a time when videogame violence was seen as being “edgy and cool”, and it ran with it.
These days, violence in gaming? Meh big deal.
.
Pick Kabal and runjab all day?
No.
UMK3 only matters all the other ones are broken as hell.
You have no idea what your talking about, Kabal is good but hes not god tier. The game is balanced it has around 10 top tiers.
Dont know why people like MK2, MK2 is trash heres MK2 in a nut shell

You’re mistaken. I was referring to an earlier post, and mocking it.
UMK3 is one of my favorite games.
son its all about human smoke
every other mk game kinda suck.
Kitana. Jump kick, air fan, aahp, hp, wave punch = basic, yet orgasmic.
I think the real beef most players have with MK is that it tends not to be as deep or lasting as the other fighters out there. Ed Boon did say that the MK series was more for ‘casual players’.
In any case, as a long-time MK player, I could tell you that my favorite games out of the whole series were MK2, UMK3, and MK: Deception. Those left a lasting impression on me, and each game had a lot of replay value.
…then, along came Armageddon. Broken as HELL gameplay with nearly all characters having an Aerial Infinite, unbalanced bosses that can dominate with glitches and the inherent inability to be thrown, antsy hit detection and the ultimately crappy idea to do away with Fatalities and put in this bland ‘Create-a-Fatality’ BULLSHIT. Needless to say, that game royally tanked in the MK community, and, as most players would tell you (myself included) interest in the game drops mere weeks after you start playing it. By far, the worst MK fighting game, EVER.
I’m hoping that, whatever they do with MK8, they really bowl me over like they did with Deadly Alliance. One thing’s for certain…they can’t get away with half-assing it like they did Armageddon. They’d better not.
I don’t think it’s that bad.
I do prefer UMK3 over MK2, I just have fond memories of MK2. Oh and it has ‘Gotcha Grabs’.
Really, Ed Boon has really just made MK fucking stupid. But he intentionally has done so since UMK3, he doesn’t care about how broke later games have gotten or how big a joke it’s gotten, as long as the blood kiddies will buy it he keeps pushing out shit. Last MK I bought was Armageddon as I completely ignored DA and Deception, only to find out Armageddon was laughable, only played Mortal Kart
UMK3 ftw!
I actually like MK DA. IMO I think it’s the best one.
I hated Deception’s conquest mode and hate MKA conquest even more.
Fav characters:
-Smoke(human)
-Scorpion
-Sub-zero
-Mavado
-Noob Saibot
However MK Shaolin Monks is the BEST MK GAME OF ALL TIME. I demand a series.
Broken as well, I believe. Noob and Rain run circles around just about everything.
Shoalin Monks, MK2, and UMK3 are the best to me. Saturn UMK3 plays really well on the Saturn controller, too bad about the crappy loading times. T_T
Crap.
UMK3 > You
Me too, Shaolin monks rocked! Best MK title i’d played in a damn long time. Sadly i get the feeling there will not be anymore and thats a shame.
Shaolin monks > MK4/DA/DC/ARM
