I’m just realizing the SRK logo is basically a more tilted version of the SNK logo. I feel too free. I now like the logo much more than before.
Oh boy, I don’t even know where to begin with this one, other than, both the feats of Superman and Goku are totally fictional, so the source of their powers is largely umimportant and will only break down into a cross-cultural semantics debate.
The appeal of GD is simple, a like minded interest to other gateways without leaving this website.
So, that covers an array of subjects including some you’d never thought about liking.
Many of the threads are just shitty a spin-off of a main thread.
with the “scene” growing there should probably be sub-forums with in a forum.
Case in Point: like the movie thread, count the number of “other” movie threads.
Back on topic,
For me, it was more along the lines of other people & gaming.
I’ve been gaming forever. Wasn’t until age 12 that I started hitting up the arcades and playing fighting games. I didn’t have a dreamcast, ps2, or even an arcade controller.
Some black dude w/ dreads that was going to the U oF A shows up to my local arcade, schooled me, and put me on to SRK.
Well the site was cool, except i couldn’t get a ride to the Uof A and my parents didn’t want to drop me off with people 10+ years older than me. So much for running sets.
Given that I didn’t have any of the tools of the for that time, I also couldn’t practice.
Friends weren’t really into other games outside of RPGs and DDR.
So browsing around and after changing my name from Hank Scorpio to this, I found GD.
—I changed my name from embarrassing/scolding remarks that were acceptable back then for asking questions and not reading all the info.
So, GD was were it was at for me. After some time and getting an xbox (1st one) i came on here and linked up with gamers.
Little did I know that many gamers on here are experienced and generally pretty good.
It was fun playing with people that knew about the game, didn’t shy away from giving advice or taking advice, and you also had a place to chat while you weren’t on.
Thats the primary appeal and reason I post here.
However when you don’t have live, you get board and start posting in other threads and reading other topics.
I find it best just to lurk as some people have suuuuccch strong opinions.
I rarely post on here now though or even bother to look at the site.
my interest in playing fighting games is nearly gone and GD isn’t a place where its okay to ask questions or acceptable to make mistakes.
many of the ongoing threads or re-makes of threads end up being the same thing because the same people campaign so hard for their view/interest. These threads can also veer so of course that pages and pages will past w/o being on topic. The rap thread for instance.
Its been a long time since I put effort into a post because on SRK (internet) its context > content.
The only real conversations I had with members is just back n forth banter.
Asking information on here becomes irrelevant when floods of posts “google it” prohibit the one person that may have the answer. Googling just puts the result in front of you, you still have to research somewhat.
Other genres of games have learned to tier so methodically like srk does.
some of these threads are a great jumping off point. But the UNDERSTANDABLE lack of dedication to one games holds them back.
And as far as gaming with people on here. Naaah. Maybe a few like Final Rush if they ever play again! (j/p, i understand having a life)
After the COD situation in which AkumaTX kicked me out for raging (ironic?) I doubt Ill play. I told her/showed proof how I contributed to the win and its simple to mute in that game but I was ousted.
Not sure if it was suppose to hurt but it did.
After spending years on here, i felt pushed away for various reasons (just look at my history if you need to), it became more of a chore to post and await responds on here, not to mention becoming a joke and an unflattering poster child of a bad-grammar/ flame-war enthusiast meme.

Fighting game scene in my area is a lot of bs. I stayed on GD cuz it was easier to meet up with people. My efforts of trying to establish a connection with my local scene show lack of support while others that could make are rewards/praised for it (/sojelly)
(recently, since I didn’t know it back then) Its Trial by fire deal that shuns people away rather than treating it like a video-game.
More interested in the gimmicks of the game than the actually gameplay (the huge flaw in vid-games)
Latif can be a role model if you hate that as I do. Just learn from them but deal w/ their shit and practice your little heart out!

GD isn’t quite as entertaining as it used to be but it’s still a really good forum. Another reason I like it is, since it’s been around so long, a lot of its members are around my age or a little older. On most other videogame related forums it seems like everyone is really young.

How about a Saiyan getting hit by Omega Beams? A friend posits the only reason Superman/boy/girl survives is because of their force field, but I swear I’ve seen Martian Manhunter take a shot. Which leads me to believe Goku or Vegeta could take the hit, but not too many of them, as Omega Beams are stupid strong.
