what the hell is good times lol? Didnt get that reference at all, infact the only one i got was the trading places reference. Thought Eddie the 3rd was gonna show up and bail out the freemans, dem white bastards!
It was an old and terrible sitcom in the 70’s about a black family barely making it by everyday in an apartment so the “Good Times” you heard on the episode was the actual theme song. JJ was the eldest son and most popular character who was known for calling his sexy-as-fuck sister ugly  and had “DY-NO-MIITE!!” and “EXCUSEZ-MOI!” as catchphrases. It was the most coonish thing I’ve ever seen in my fucking life. Also Janet Jackson made her acting debut here as jailbait (what?).
If you go back to S3’s Haterocracy the guy in the hat (George Pissofferson?) was based on him. I listened to the commentary and … I don’t know if Jimmie Walker (JJ) actually did his voice cuz they mentioned … he’s a bit picky with his well known character and his name is not in the credits. Whatever, fuck that nigga.
Anyway, as far as the 4th wall thing, Huey shrugged towards the camera after Ruckus started doing his nunchaku kata, and gave the camera a cautious glare after his initial phone call from Rollo Goodlove, if those count…
@autocrat1 thanks for the rundown man, am not in the US so from time to time i miss out on some cultural references, for instance I thought the dy no mite catchphrase was a dave chappelle original doh. The shit you learn. Janet Jackson jailbail however… nice
That’s FAR from the case, I’ll admit. Still, this has that Community Season 4 feel (like others said). The new directors are, understandably, trying to mimic the old director. They’re not doing a good job so far, but time will tell if they turn it into something good or go dumb like Community S4 eventually did.
ok here is the deal if stinkmeaner iv by some random act of the devil turns out to be ass, which has a 99 percent chance of not happening then you guys are free to shit on the rest of the season lmao
I wasn’t really feeling this episode either. It kinda just felt like watching a regular cartoon. But as Ace said, 2 ehhh episodes don’t ruin a whole season. We just gotta see how shit pans out.
Luna was a bad bitch though. I really hope she does come back, and if not, then at least bring in Nicole. Hell, even Cristal (like the champagne) kinda developed into “something”. If there’s one character I’m sad about leaving, it was Ebony, but I guess she was too good to be true.
What’s interesting is the date, June 24th. If they’re only showing one episode a week without interruption then the last episode will be on September 1st (20 weeks after April 21st). So either that’s just a placeholder date or they’re gonna marathon a lot of episodes on a Toonami day or something.
