I honestly could not stand regina’s riley voice in season 1, way too whiny plus all the characters looked like they where dipped in bleach…huey’s too
Huey had a different voice actor S1 then Regina picked up both voices.
S1 is awesome I rewatched the whole thing last week. Shit was made 03-04, more than a decade ago. Can’t really hold the art against if. S2 is the objective best imo.

Regina King was always Huey/Riley. She wanted to be just Riley during her audition but Aaron talked her into doing both. She refined Huey’s voice in the other seasons to make him sound more different/mature.
Just because this show looks like anime don’t mean it should be bashed on the children’s English voices lol. BELIEVE IT!

Season 1 was the first show of its kind on television, so I don’t see how one can even compare a season that focused on world building as it did being funny. The second season (like with Chappelle’s Show) really elevated the series because we knew what it was all about; the show finally solidified its voice. Basically, the audience that “got” the show stayed watching and the fanbase grew from there. So imo, comparing the Boondocks season1 and 2 isn’t a fair comparison. It’s like comparing an artist’s earlier good work, with his later more refined work and asking him why he wasn’t as good before.
I hate to make a Chappelle’s Show comparison again, but both shows really had brilliant pilots. Why? Because the first episodes made it clear what kind of show you were getting, and if you didn’t like pilot (which for Chappelle’s Show is still my favorite episode btw) you pretty much could tell that the show wasn’t for you.
You can’t watch the pilots and then watch Season 2 and say, “Man the direction of the show really changed”. Nope. You’re still getting the same product, only crisper packaging.
This episode is actually good so far. And I think that’s CCH Pounder who does Boss Wilona(sp?) voice. Bomb Wave Cream. LOL!!
