Usually ChrisG shakes his head when he loses, like he thinks he should’ve won everytime. When he got destroyed by Mihe, all he could do was nod his head. He understands!!!

Mihe is definitely the most godlike Zero I’ve ever seen in a tournament. Now lets see how he does at EVO…

Oh and not related to Zero, but it was nice to see Yipes back in a top 8. He had some pretty godlike play with that team as well.

I really do like sam’s precision when he plays. Sometimes I feel like zero is a short man with a scalpel, and when he’s precise he can be deadly, but if he’s just throwing out moves everywhere then he’s like a midget with a butter knife trying to get the hit. Lmao

Who’s reaching Toryuken? I know there are some canadian zeros other than Avarace and I.

Lightning Loop
I know pretty much everything has been said on this but the past few days I’ve been trying to get consistent with it for tournaments and I want to share my thoughts (if only so I have a record for myself if I forget). Been doing the ‘true’ loop with no buster mixed in. Free 500k per meter feels good.

Who to practice : Pick magneto. It will force you to learn the timing you need for the delayed jump characters and that timing works on everyone. It may also add to the consistency. More on that.
How to start it : After you sogenmu simply hold up. Not up back, not super jump, but up. When zero is about equal height with the opponent release. You will be right next to him but one buster will hit. You want to be at about the max jump height for zero, but it is more important that you only hit with one buster and don’t connect with the shadow buster. For this you need to be about equal height as measured by your head with the target. The worst is to get above the target. Then two busters will connect, and I don’t know how to salvage that for loops.
I think it may help to use the Magneto timing on the OTG dive to pop the target the highest possible. This is the other reason to practice on magneto.
Nothing special about the first lightning. put it in as soon as possible without dropping the input.
Looping : This is where people disagree on the proper input so I’m just going to share what works for me. Up back to start the jump is a mistake. You will likely drop the combo after a rep or two. Up forward jump seems best but I have about equal success with Up jump. You are aiming for the legs or a little above. Pretty much put Zero right in the flashing hitbox of the lightning and you should be fine. This is a position high up in the air compared to the lowest TK lightning. You don’t need to speed through the motions. Its possible to jump and react to the jump by putting in the motions, though your consistency will suffer. The jump is the first input I put it, so I’m technically not TK lightning’ing. If you are having trouble making the jump come out you are doing the motion too fast. Get a feel for when Zero is free to move, even if its not the instant he is able to , and then put in your motion.
The motion : I am using hold forward, wait for my time to jump, then 9632369. In reality it is two quick moves of the stick from the angled up to down then from down to upforward. You could shoot to downback if you like. Why this motion? I’ve noticed that if you do a real TK lightning (632369) you have a very limited time to push a button and have the special come out. Often I would drop the loop by having jab come out and I know I put the motion in but waited a tad too long to lightning. By putting the jump in first the game allows more time to get a lightning instead of a normal. You also have no chance of getting a super jump. Why does it work? Maybe the extra four frames delay during prejump is enough to hurt consistency. Maybe the game has a mechanic for shortening input windows for moves input prior to a jump.

Overall much more consistent for me than even TK lightning with buster mixes. Now to practice facing left … :slight_smile:

Edit: Additional work after dropping in tournament has brought me closer to understanding this.
During the reps I am now holding up forward and reacting to the jump with a regular dp motion. When do I press the button? On heavies right as the hit counter stops going up. On others I can delay for a little while. The proper timing is right as the last hit of the previous rep connects. You get leeway from the slower fall speed of lighter characters that lets you delay a while for slower reps. Before I was using Zero’s height relative to the other character to decide when to invoke the lightning but that’s No Good. So to practice the timing use Magneto to get the time of the initial dive, then switch to haggar and practice that timing on the reps. That same time will work on everyone I think, but you get even more time on other characters (after the last hit).

The only time I drop the LL is when I do a QCFa instead of DP. my DP motions are so ass smh. Luckily its a rarity I ever have to do a full loop since off any confirm I’m getting 650-750 meterless anyway. Zero/Dante/Doom is straight mvc2 shit since the first two can pull a stupid amount of weight but doom in the back is soooooo bad.

I kinda want to steal that team. I need to learn dante, I’ve run out of excuses.

Its going to be really akward learning to play Dante in that team from not knowing how to play him at all. With missiles you can’t really rushdown in the regular dante way and must utilize his neutral tools a lot more to maintain pressure

Just a little tip on dive buster canceling on characters that fall faster in the corner: jump back while doing it. This will make zero fire his buster lower to the ground, giving you a little more time to tag on the lightning.
