Chris G is definitely solid, no shame in losing against him. Good luck to both for the SFC2
Speaking of Chris G…
How the fuck do you guys deal with Ryu’s air :l: tatsu and following crouching :l: mashing, especially when coupled with an assist? It’s hard to tell when it will cross up. I find it VERY difficult to fight a Ryu that stays in the air the whole time. I can’t fight him from a distance, either, due to reaction beam hypers. This is especially difficult online where it’s extremely easy to mistime a pushblock (and thusly the game registers it as you just pressing buttons and you get hit.) I’ve tried launching, but my launcher just gets stuffed. Air Buster > Lighting seems to be the only option I have, but even then, an assist can blow me up out of it (and it has.) I seem to get hit when I go for an air throw, too.
Sadly enough, airborne Ryu is my most difficult matchup (as I’ve already wised up to Wesker, Ammy, and Wolverine’s crap.)
Tell me what to do, Z(H)eros!
- Stay out of cross up range
- Don’t press buttons if you block it OR pushblock faster
- Don’t get overheaded
- Easier said than done, especially with an assist locking me down.
- Even if I do block successfully, he can just launch the same offensive again, leaving me practically helpless.
- Yes, but it’s hard to tell which side the tatsu hits on quick enough to block the incoming c. :l: mashing properly.
I need to know how to fight against it, not sit there and take it.
If you just backdash before he gets close you’ll be fine. Keep shooting with busters (safer than hadangekis against beamers.) If you block successfully push block or get away. It’s not like tatsu is a block infinite or something. You’re not helpless at all. Also try air blocking, up back will decrease the possibility of a cross up and makes push blocking it easier. Also try out Ryuenjin if you know it’s coming.
Top 8 at Revelations. Wesker/Zero/Task =)
Look like I’ll be repping Zero at Evo this year so with that said… I’m working on some new stuff with Zero I’d like to be able to use on people there. One big thing is resets, if I don’t have enough meter to kill someone in one combo. Generally I end my combo in OTG > Jam Session 5S j.Buster L Raikosen M Sentsuizan, but I know there’s some resets I could do here instead of super.
Here are some of my ideas:
OTG again and get them to tech out, then mix up air throw and jump back j.M. If they block j.M, call Jam Session and M Command dash to go behind them. Or, instead of the 2 sentsuizans I could so the reset after the last raikosen, but I’m not sure Jam session would be up by them. What are some mixups you guys go for with resets?
I’d honestly like to keep it as simple and effective as possible though to eliminate error / confusion on my part… Keeping track of 90 different situations off a tech for various traps is probably a bad thing.
Guys, I’ve been recently checking out what people are saying on stream chats, here on the srk forums, my local arcade and such places, and it looks like people are going to start bandwagonning to Zero. What do you guys think about this? Do you see it happening? Would you care if one day somebody calls you a “tier whore”?
Damn, just thinking I picked Zero since day 1 and stick to him even when our most advanced BnB combo was the combo Marn taught us around CES. I am just saying that if some heavy wandwagoning happens, I feel happy that most people in these forums (SamuraiX, Toaster, Avarice, Steb, BlackRagna, Destin, Marn, Nina, just to name a few) contributed to the beast that Zero is today. Great stuff guys!
I picked Zero day 1 too high five
In fact, the first three characters I ever picked was Dante-a/Zero-a/Wesker-b
…I feel like I looked into the future when I chose my characters for the first time.
Band wagoning is inevitable when a character is found out to be awesome, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Zero become a bit more popular when people start to get over Mr. Unacceptable.
The thing is Zero is a bit more technical then some of the other cast, so even when he starts to get more band wagoners I imagine his higher execution barrier will help keep him at a healthy number of players for a while.
If anyone calls me a tier whore in the future for using Zero I’m gonna go into beast mode and OCV him though.
Thanks
I personally think Zero is too hard and dies too easy / doesn’t do enough easy damage to ever be the band wagon character. Hopefully that’s the case lol
Yeah, I’m glad Zero is so hard, he feels like MY character. When I play at locals and don’t see anyone else using him at all, and then I’m beasting with him, makes me feel like all the work with him was worth it.
First characters I picked were Zero Ammy and Dante… funny now because people are calling those 3 the cheap characters in the tier thread lol.
So it seems Marn’s rushdown style with Zero has taken a back seat to the keepaway/Buster-poking style. Thus far it seems really hit or miss (no pun intended). Is the most effective way of landing a hit using that style setting up or hoping that you land a lvl3 Buster and following up with L Raikousen? I personally prefer the rushdown style, but I’d like to stay well rounded as all matchups won’t allow for it. Right now I’m using Chris/Zero/Sent
I don’t think Zero has a set style. Treat him like Akuma where you can turtle where it’s needed or if the opening presents itself, go for the rush down. It’s good to not take risks and get a knockdown with buster to help get in safely and start your mixups but if you have an opportunity to get in and do work inside, by all means. I think a good playstyle is just one that minimizes risks, and people are realizing that buster is often a safer way to initiate with people than trying to run into zoning.
That’s why I prefer to put him second. It’s not impossible, but much more dangerous for him to be on point. At the beginning of a match the opponent has way too many options to put damage on him whether through direct hit, indirect hit (assist) or chip. I prefer (and I think eventually this will become the norm) to start off with a high HP zoner to do some weeding first. In my dynamic if Chris at the very least hold serve and give as much as he gets (if not moreso) than it’s a win - even if he doesn’t score a kill.
So who’s hyped for UMvC3? I think that Zero/Strider/Doom could work despite having two glass cannons. Zero on point can build plenty of meter for Strider, and Doom is a solid anchor and assist. The only thing is, I don’t know if Doom’s beam will be as good for Strider as it is for Zero, so I might go back to rocks, personally. What do you guys think?
Unless Vergil has a Drones assist, I’m probably gonna end up sticking with my team.
The new characters look great, but Zero/tatsu assist is still going to be my bnb. I will be playing Vergil on point though.
I won’t play Strider. I have way too much pride as a Zero main to put him on my team.
Strider+Zero forever. Just need to find who’s gonna be the third member.
Hey guys, trying to figure this out. I know there was a video recently posted about TAC being uncounterable if Zero does it in Sougenmu. However, I’m doing it in training and set P2 to spam down+s, and it gets countered every time. Are there any specific conditions to it being uncounterable aside from being in Sougenmu?
It’s mostly a timing issue. You have to start the TAC just before the shadow hits them with an air H. The time between the TAC flash and the moment where the shadow hits them during the flash, they can still counter. So you have to make this gap as small as possible. Watch the video again and look/read closely.
Zero Strider Dante… team swords / bad ass main character lol
