the people kinda want it to be hosted. What good is it to have a video if no one will ever see it? Blaze peforms a service, but that service costs him money. The people gaining from it can stand to donate to him especially since he’s not doing it for the profit or money or any of that, he’s doing it for the scene, he’s doing it for the community.
How about some of you buy a 450 dollar a/mo server for srk and let everyone download videos off of it for free.
And then when you ask for donations since you are doing it for our benifit but can’t afford to pay for it on your own, then we can get to bitch at you and call you a “greedy punk”

CV is a centralized place for finding videos. That is what I have always wanted.
It’s not purely for fighting game fanatics. It’s also for people who don’t ‘get’ it. People who aren’t into fighting games can still stumble across CV, see a random video (hopefully one of mine) and get interested. Those people wouldn’t go to GFB or the SRK torrent site, because they don’t care about us in the first place.
CV (which essentially means Blaze) promotes the fighting game community more than almost anyone I’ve ever seen. He actively makes contacts in other gaming communities and tries to cross-pollenate and get people to come back to the main site, where the fight videos still hold the spotlight.
Beyond that, it’s home for my videos. I don’t have to find 50 different hosting spots that may or may not go down in a week, I can always refer people to CV. That’s huge to me, and likely to many other video makers. Where else do you KNOW you can get the whole Meikyousisui or SlimX collection? Who else cuts up random gigantic torrents for 56k users, so they can still get match vids?
CV does it because no one else does. If CV goes down, I quit SF.

How is it wrong? It’s a centralized service. It’s like doing your taxes…it’s free for you to do it yourself you know. But is it wrong to hire a tax accountant or H&R Block to do something that is free for you to do, but you’re just too lazy to search/organize your crap?
I don’t see what’s the big deal about these people who record these vids, give it up for free on the internet and then it has to be paid for in order to keep a site running. It’s like you’re too busy thinking “anything involving money = profit always”, but blazd made it clear that he’s losing money.
Ok, apparently that point doesn’t sink in, because MONEY is an objective thing. I guess what the people complaining here about is just blazd’s lack of business sense and what a crappy infrastructure he’s running that’s causing him to LOSE money every month.
If you’re going to rag on this, might as well rag on “Maximum Exposure” or “Real TV”. Do you think they paid for any of the videos that got submitted to them? Do you think they NEED to pay the video makers? Do you think they shouldn’t have to pay for air time, production costs or wages just because they were given to them for free?

It’s not like blazed is charging for specific vids ala SFTchina who ripped jap DVDs and sold them on the net. Donations to keep his costs down and allow the site to stay up are a totally different matter. The amount of donations is clearly listed on his site, he’s not making a profit.
It boils down to the original makers of the videos. If they objected to having their videos hosted it would be an entirely different matter. You don’t see Evo footage there, and there would be an outcry from the cannons if such footage were posted. As I see it, it’s a huge repository for vids and a boon to the community.
For those vidmakers who believe that they deserve a cut of the money, who’s to say that Capcom themselves doesn’t deserve a cut (it’s their game you are making vids of). And so on.

Personally, when it told me I had to pay to download c-gods new vid, who I CHAT with from time to time, you better believe I erased CV from my bookmarks in 10 seconds flat.
But if people are willing to pay and players are a) aware of their stuff on CV (that had BETTER be the case) and b) have zero complaints, then there isn’t really any problem with it.
If you are smart, you will stick to the back alleys, but don’t rag on the mainstreets.
I may disagree with kofiend on the issue(which he really hasn’t even commented on past page 2)… but I just wanted to add that moop really is a bandwagon jumping yes-man who has had zero personal input on this topic since it started (like a few other people, but he sticks out). Parrot sounds about right.
BlazeD, while I certainly won’t be downloading from your site anytime soon, keep fighting the good fight 
he charges for dling old vids(which generally have MUCH larger sizes) to protect himself from getting overly raped w/ site maitenence charges, and preventing the server from being suspended again.
you can hate the site for not making the old videos available, but he still offers all his new videos… its not like he completely shuns people who dont pay. I dont see why you should shun his site.

This whole thread is currently invalid really, as again I said 99% of the stuff is available and has been available to the public this whole month. I haven’t received one donation in about 1 week either x_X
In terms of filesize, yes, larger stuff usually 250 mb+ I say I will only have for CV PLUS members. However, how often have I just put up a HUGE file download for everyone?
gbursine and his friend PSU totally hooked me up with the 2nd impact vids. 100s of megs of combo goodnes. I’ll see about putting them up sometime in the future when I get a chance.
