Some characters would be buried to oblivion in a one-on-one setting.
Jack-X and Chun-Li stomp the entire roster.
My nigga Heihachi would would be dead and gone… AND Nina…
Jack-X,Chun,Ryu,Guile,Rufus,Zangief,Rolento,Kazuya would still dominate.
See, why can’t we have this kind of defense when it comes to the game itself?
I make a statement about how this game isn’t using the SF4 engine, and people immediately come up to prove me wrong. Yet when people claim that this game is just SF4 with tag teams, people don’t try to prove them wrong, even though it isn’t true.
Anyways, let’s get back to the topic at hand. I’ve already stated my position: I think that it would be neat to see a 1v1 mode, but as a separate mode like in Tekken Tag Tournament 1, not as a “standard” or anything.
Does it really?
I mean… SF2 runs on the same as XSF and MvC and Cyberbots and Giga Wing… and even SF3, I think…
But… MvC2? idk if they do… I’m not saying you’re wrong… I just never heard of that. I know MvC2 and CvS2 and Giga Wing 2 are all on the Naomi Hardware, but I thought the game engines for CPS1-3 is different than the ones on Naomi.
Again, I could be wrong, I just never heard that they both use the same engine.
classic srk post
Why argue with haters? Why bother? Your investment will yield absolutely no returns.
I know, but I always feel like I have to try…because a lot of the reasons for hating on the game are just flat out stupid or ignorant. (Like how ignorant my statement was about how SF X TK doesn’t use the SF4 engine at all, which people were quick to point out as completely wrong.)
Then I realize how futile it is and just go back to playing the game.
Just playing the game is the BEST defense for the game. Don’t ever let anyone try to set-up a “trap of ignorance” for you. Just let them be and if they get no responses they’ll simply get tired and leave. It works everytime.
IIRC, 3s runs on a new engine developed for CPS3, while almost all the games on CPS2 run on the SF2 engine.
I don’t remember exactly where did i read it, but MvC2 was developed on the same engine used for SSF2, of course re compiled for naomi and upgraded with some new elements
From what i remember there were 3 engines (that i remember) by that time, the SF2, the SF3, and the SFAlpha

So let me get this right, if i correct you out of your mistake of game mechanics =/= engine, i am a hater
…
SFxT playes, lololololol
Heh, I love how people assume something from something that has nothing to do with my point.
I wasn’t stating that you were a hater. I wasn’t stating that the person I originally quoted was a hater. I was simply making a point; you were quick to come and correct my statement about game engines, but when someone else (not you or the person I quoted) says that SF X TK is just SF4 with tag mechanics, people don’t come to defend that, despite it being completely false.
Yeah, but mechanically, it doesn’t play like SF4…that’s what I was implying anyway…
Shoulda said that then BRUH!!!
But in all seriousness. Your previous posts just sounded straight IGNANT.
Yawn, who really gives a fuck man. The guy said “I’d love to see this game played on the SSF4 engine” when the context of the thread was referring obviously to the mechanics/style of SSF4 gameplay. Sorry I forgot to filter for the randomly fluctuating levels of density out of SRK posters so a simple “I don’t wanna play SSF4” joke becomes confusing:rofl: BRUH:rolleyes:
The 2v2 aspect has forced me to branch out and try more characters than I normally would try if it had been a 1v1 game.
Ok YOO RIte. See my density comes with honesty and knowing when I wrong. Its not like ill cry about it or anything… Cries himself to sleep
Isnt it great when people argue over terminology?
The game play is quite different than SF4 no matter how you define “engine”.
Much better IMO.
2v2 is what makes this game interesting in comparison to SF4 in my opinion. Mainly because bad match-ups can be countered with the correct partner(s) and/or strategy.
Some characters are heavily more reliant on meter and/or their partners in order to be most effective. So sometimes, in order to beat a character it can be a good idea to not attack the character directly but to make the specific character either waste meter stupidly or severely damage their partner so that you can limit their options should they be reliant on their partners to be effective.
To put this game in a 1v1 format would severely imbalance a majority of the cast against one another. Speaking from the experience of my characters, I would know for a fact that if this game was in a 1v1 format, Akuma would struggle so BADLY against the majority of the cast mainly because his standard punishes aren’t as strong as some of the Tekken characters but they are good in comparison to the SF guys though because the lack of FADC doesn’t hurt him as much as it does for some other SF characters who had really strong combo options with the Focus System and FADCs.
Perhaps that’s the reason why there is no official tier list. Character tiers are tier-etical in nature anyway.
