ST tournament at Evo this year was sick. I’ve heard a bunch of people since then be like “wanna see this but for 3s next year.”
what would it take and how could it be accomplished? comes to mind immediately:
gotta have invites for all the top Japanese/US/Europe players, and qualifiers for some open spots
gotta be on arcade cabs and not console
what else? who could make it happen? who do we talk to?
Start doing shit instead of finding someone else to do it for you
I don’t know how someone would start. That’s why I made this topic. Maybe someone knows more than me.
Maybe we’ll get info out of this. Like “this is the guy to talk to.” Or maybe “no one related to Evo gives a shit about 3s so it’s not worth thinking about.” I dunno. That’s why I’m asking.
Last couple times I had a thought about something 3s-related I made a topic about it and that lead to some good results. Curious about FBA vs OE speed? Post what I know, see if we can figure something out. Mixed results, but worthwhile. Wanna get all the OE fix suggestions in one place? Make a thread about it, IG was basically quoting our list so obviously it was worthwhile. Same deal here. I am nobody in the community and can’t make something like this happen but maybe someone else here can or knows someone who can.

alot of dedication and alot of 3S peoples taking action , that’s pretty much everything.
Start now, go to a local major, run/compete in the 3s side tournament. Talk it up.
Pretty much, if you make enough noise, enough players will hear, say they are coming out to EVO to play, stirring up the pot more, and eventually you will have one that is almost just as big.

ToL wouldn’t happen If we hadn’t got Kuroppi who did an extremely well job to create a self organizing tournament like that, from writing a qualifiers schedule for whole year, invite Japanese players, bring on a godlike arcade setup (I don’t know if that setup can be used for CPS3 or not), corporate with IE Battlegrounds for a separating stream and finally bring top 8 to main stage. That means 90% of the jobs can be done without any EVO-related guys, aka bunch of 3S haters

Top 8 on main stage, imo is not really necessary. Biggest problems must be the setup since most dedicated 3S players hate or deny to play on OE. If you host qualifiers on arcade that’d reduce the amount of participants. That means less qualifiers - more invitees, this one costs a lot, and to be honest I don’t want to see players that not-playing-3s-seriously-anymore like Tokido to take invite slots.
But if this year’s participants like Kokujin, Haitani, Umezono, MOV and (maybe) Nuki return next year, we don’t need to worry about money problems anymore.
So, besides the setup issue, I think everything else are totally possible.
There’s definitely some resources and dedication ST players have that we don’t. As a friend of mine put it over the weekend at Evo, 3s players need to get jobs before they can have events like this 
Besides groundwork like setting up quals with appropriate setups I think you just need top players to be enthusiastic about participating.
I mean that is great and we are trying the back and forth in their topic, when their scene is strong and naturally they can downplay us. But how many people watching are current ST players, even on GGPO.
Their knowledgeable dudes, even said, “SF3 not on GGPO anymore, you have nobody.”
I think most of us want the SBO slot back first more than EVO for everyone else to watch. Since 3s heads already watch SBO. Half of EVO or more doesn’t even know who MOV is.

Undamned, the consolized CPS-II guy, emailed folks about a special DIY USB kit so anybody can modify their games to accommodate PS3 and 360 sticks on the spot so having a consolized CPS-III is half-way there (need a video converter) just in case the 3SOE patch doesn’t receive well.

Did he update the current mini supergun, consolized CPS2 thread, or is there a new one for this potential product?
The model number for the IIyama LCDs were: Prolite 2210 HDS…and they are indeed 0ms. Numerous European tournaments have adopted those as the standard :china:

He’s not exactly a top-level SF4 player, so it’d be natural that he’s unknown. Most of Evo probably didn’t know who Itabashi Zangief or Kusomondo were either, until after the ToL.
