What were you expecting for a SFV at $60?

Again, i don’t feel like is bitter, or i guess i’m ok with bitter chocolate

chocolate > bitter chocolate > shit

Thing is no amount of sugar (from start or grain by grain) can trasform shit into chocolate

Sugar will start be added in late March grain by grain.
But tbh it’s not Alex or the shop that will dramatically change my enjoy the product, since the main thing will still be the chocolate wich is already there

Of the 6 char the only two that really i want are Urien and as far second Alex, ironically the June big mainstream cinematic update is kinda negative to me, since it “push” 4th 5th and 6th DLC chars one month later

Said that i don’t get the “grain by grain” problem, it was never a secret they created a system of payment (shop/zenny/FM) because theyr idea was a product that monthly release contents… wich is why i’ve no problem with what i have for 60$, since i’m already ok with it and during the lifetime of the product it will be expanded by extra free/FM stuff + whatever amount of $ i will chose to spend

I don’t know what you expected but following the development of the game i was expecting a full price start and then a slow expansion a la Hearthstone: free (grinding) ingame money updates

Wich is what SFV end up being, so that’s why i’m not disappointed

If the argument is that they have been naive thinking that average ignorant mainstream buyer (and reviewers that write for them) that can’t say difference between chocolate and shit will accept bitter chocolate… yes, we agree

What surprise me is the amount of peoples in theorically informed forums whining loud joining the ignorance parade

As i said in another thead i see tons of wannabe smart-consumers that are doing all in theyr power to ruin the product they just buyed

Spread generic negativity is not smart, negativity keep shit-eater casuals away while i prefer them to throw theyr money in since that will affect the quality/quantity of future sugar

It’s a simple concept, but a high number of supposed informed/smart peoples don’t understand that
get better game > the pleasure of nerd whining on teh internet

I will be ok with have spent 60$ for SFV and 6 DLC ones, but of course i will be more happy if there will be quality season 2, 3 and 4

what did i expect?

a singleplayer “campaign” with lots of explosions and gunshots

Wheres the Zombie mode? Fix this game Treyarch.

After Ono’s talks about bringing new players to the FGC I was expecting the game to be more casual friendly.
I was expecting the game to have a way to fight cpu in real match conditions.
I was expecting the game to have more than 6k players on PC on a weekend, 2 weeks after release: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/
Current Players: 5,149
Peak Today: 5,983

Don’t worry, the players will come as a DLC patch in March. For FREE!

We losing to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Damn.

The important thing to remember is that that is literally the player bases fault. It is all our fault. Capcom has no fault here at all and they have done everything properly & correctly. The consumers are the stupid ones here. I mean, Capcom made the most casual-friendly & accessible fighting game ever created…but those ungrateful, dumb as hell casuals are too dumb to recognize that and buy the game and enjoy it. It’s so unfair to Capcom (blessings be upon their name)

Nice way to distort what i said

Capcom have absoulte fault and started the problem, internet whining nerds are just making it worse gaining nothing aside the privilege of internet whining itself

Is that easy

So will the pre-order costumes be available for purchase with FM as well?

Gaining nothing?

It’s gaining the attention of developers across the entire industry that this sort of practice is not acceptable. Do you think people speaking out about this is having NO effect on Capcom?

Even your framing of this as “internet whining nerds” is a white-knight pro-Capcom approach. This is not a handful of people…this is the general casual audience as a consensus. This is guys that support Capcom generally (myself included). There are critics both hardcore in the community and casual calling this out that have no invested interest in bitching. Hell, some of them might be burning potential bridges by saying what they’re saying…but they’re saying it because it’s the truth.

You go to a restaurant and someone brings you cold food what do you do? Shrug and say “Well, complaining to my waiter won’t gain me anything but whining. And telling other people about how they run this restaurant will serve no purpose. Time to eat!”

I’ll even say this…all this blind white-knighting and white-washing of the situation? It’s making things WORSE. It is making people dig in and repeat or really delve into the issues they have with the product. Dismissing what is pretty damn valid criticism being leveled is making people speak up LOUDER so they don’t feel as if they are getting shouted down. The Capcom Defense Force is probably doing more damage by elevating the volume of the conversation, leading to people to REALLY trash the game as they reach greater levels of hyperbole.

EDIT: I’ll also add that it’s funny you assumed I was referencing anything you said with what you quoted. I was just framing what a lot of people are seeing as the over-zealous, blind defense that some fans are throwing up in front of Capcom. Do you perhaps protest too much?

The fun thing is that you can’t be more far from truth about the white knight thing.

I hated capcom for a LOT of reasons: Darkstalkers shit treatment, the MegaMan death, killing Clover Studios, general no respect for theyr own past classics, marketing West dickriding, the fuckyou to DMC fanbase and many other reasons

I’m not saying that have NO effect, i’m saying that the effect is not what you expect and anyway will not benefit SFV as a game

Low sales and ignorant mainstream shitstorm are enough for them to understand that they did many bullshits in this launch

Have the informed minority adding shit for holy nerdrage satisfation does’nt add much benefit and lack the useful function of balance casual ignorance

Not useful for capcom, useful for us SFV players

Pushing SFV down will encourage them do better to fix sales
Pushing SFV TOO down will encourage capcom greedy bastards calling it a not profitable investment and stop supporting it with contents during next years

Again, is really that simple

In what situation does SF5 and, by extension, Capcom…deserve to fail for what they’ve released? Honest question.

In my egoistic point of view, if they do a product that i will not like and refuse to buy

Example if they did a SFV that look like shit/MK to blowjob the murrican casual fanbase

Wich is exactly what they did with DmC (depriving DMC fans that supported them of a real DMC5), back then i was with other adding internet shit and i’m glad as fuck they failed

SFV fail will only mean greedy Caplol being even more against niche genre of fighting games

Current SFV?

I absolutely like current SFV as base to start.
I like gameplay and aestethic, and contents will arrive (many for free) in future
I wish that future actually happen because SFV have the potential to be a damn good SF

Current cast is already good and +6 characters of next months will only make it better (i like the ones they picked)
Gameplay is immediate, fun and dynamic. I like the will to make each char unique with V-mechanics too

Hope the fail (and so death/years in the freezer) for the last FG i still give fucks about (the other was Soul Calibur and shit Namco/Daishi did everything in theyr power to kill it) in the name of some abstract consumer crusade?
No, i don’t like it, specially knowing how reason Caplol

When the market dictates it’s failing…it’s failing. Currently, it’s not doing well. Failing? I wouldn’t go that far…but the game MAY deserve to fail based on what Capcom has delivered. That is inarguable thanks to the simple response of the market. Especially since it is failing not because of the merits of the engine (which I love BTW, I’ve been frank in repeating that I love the hell out of playing this game) but because they, as a company, were too stupid to release something into the market that looked like a competent, full, value-priced product. THAT is what kills companies/franchises/products.

And, y’know what? I’d give them the benefit of the doubt…once or twice…but Capcom has ENTIRELY pissed that away.

Do we remember MvC3? Branching, most in-depth story in any fighter ever? Multiple endings and paths? All of that advertised? Lies. 1 year later, Ultimate released. Absolutely destroyed the brand in the market place.

Do we remember SFxTekken? An absolute ABUSE of the goodwill the company garnered from SF4. That game was an insult to the fanbase. An exploitative piece of garbage after the fanbase poured CRAZY money and support into Street Fighter. SFxTekken brand? Destroyed. Never expect to see TekkenxSF because Capcom screwed that pooch so hard Namco probably can’t logistically recover it. Sad.

Arcade Edition? Super? Ultra? Repeating the SF meme that made casual people originally start to groan at iterations of SFII Dumb. DUMB.

Simply put, Capcom is a company that does not learn. And, not only do they not learn, they often and brazenly take HUGE steps in the opposite direction, shitting all over their fanbase in an attempt to molest their wallets & goodwill. SF5 is the culmination of that attitude and I 100% totally agree with you that the response is hyperbolic…but you know what? This isn’t just a response to SF5…I don’t think so at least. This is blowback of nearly a HALF A DECADE following SF4 of Capcom making missteps and stupid decisions. This is ALL those chickens coming home to roost to shit all over Capcom’s doorstep. Is that fair? Well, it’s not fair to SF5 and the team that worked on it…but fair to Capcom as a company? Yes, it’s absolutely fair.

This could have been their MKX and, love it or hate it, that game earned INSANE good will from casual gamers (no, I’m not including PC players in there because the casual market is console and yes that was bungled stupidity…and they DESERVED to be called out on that and lose future PC sales). MK 11 will sell like gangbusters because of that good will. So will Injustice 2.

Instead, Capcom is reaping the whirlwind of their own history of bad decision making. Remember, this is a company that Ono had to PLEAD with and risk his own job to get them to make SF4 on a very small budget because the heads of the company “knew” that such a game wouldn’t sell. That is the level of insight we are working with here.

I bought SF4. I bought MvC3 and Ultimate. I bought SFxT. I bought AE, SSF4, USF4 and SF5. I convinced friends to buy SF4. I am trying to convince friends to buy SF5 with the caveat that there is LITTLE to NO content…because I want to play against them in this fun game…but I am fighting AGAINST Capcom’s own actions and history to convince people. That is not on me. That is on THEM. 100% on them for their decisions, their output and their stupidity.

Whiners gonna whine.

This is not whining.

This is legitimate disappointment-fueled ANGER from people.

No doubt word of mouth is gonna affect Capcom. 16 characters? Maybe too few to some, but at least I would have expected the trials (and some more tutorials) to be in the game. You know, so that the new players Capcom wants to bring in can learn how to play the game. Telling them to go search online is a good way to piss away these new players.

SFV is the best fighting game on the market in terms of gameplay and accessibility.

It is also the worst packaged product since raw sugar. It would have took Capcom five minutes to slap togheter stupid modes such as: arcade, team battle, trials, time attack, tag flag, zombie mode, spectator mode, model viewer and whatnot.

They are all smoke screens (except for multilayer lobbies) but they totally matter to get a decent press at release. All the good potential in this game is in jeopardy thanks to the lack of useless appearance

Trials tend to be very important for new players to help them understand how characters function.

The game is also missing things like frame data and a hit-box viewer…things that have been requested forever.

I got exactly what I wanted, a fresh new street fighter to get into since I fell off the series in Super 4 and didn’t want to play as much catch up buying into ultra

by far more single player content. Like it or not but some people love some arcade, time challenges, trials and so on. Of course it will beadded in the future but so far besides the really bad survival mode and training mdoe there is nothing else to do.

Trials will be part of the march update
