and holy crap how are you guys getting the game for so cheap? I’m guessing that coupon code would be too late for someone who already bought it for $60 on PC?
I was expecting at least a full story mode. Its like this is still a beta. I mean all the hard work fighting opponents and we don’t have any endings or know who the strongest fighter is. Summer time I’m not gonna wanna do story mode anymore ya know. Yes I just lost to bison again on survival. I’m mad!
Oh I won’t be laughing at Capcom…I’ll be laughing at people defending absolute silliness on Capcom’s part as if promises from a software company mean anything in this day and age. The goal posts will just keep getting moved and I’ll keep laughing.
I’m not happy with what WE have because I know it’s not enough to make the game thrive in the marketplace. I want a healthier existence for the game. Could I be fine with what is here already? Sure thing (though I need Urien), I am playing and will continue to play…but I am also more than realistic enough to recognize that casual players and Joe Videogamer are NOT happy with this shit, nor should they be. This is a lacking product. I compare this to the amount of content I received in something like MGSV (a game with like…33% of it still cut out) and the difference for a “casual” player is night & day.
That is “where” the problem is. The market.
I wanted (and still want) the game to succeed…unfortunately, Capcom doesn’t seem to genuinely share that desire. Or, at the very least, they are ignorant to what would have helped it. A delay is MUCH better than a bad release because games live & die by word of mouth. It’s all net-promoter score, man…and SFV’s net-promoter score right now is in the crapper. Flat-out, this game should have been delayed. Or released as a $30 product with a $30 add-on later…or a $20…or some other method. Ideally, the game should have just been kept baking in the oven until it resembled the fully-formed output of their biggest competitor Mortal Kombat X. Objectively compare the two on an “average consumer level” and there is absolutely 0.0% chance SFV could come out looking like a properly competitive game next to the MKX package. No chance in hell.
Simply put…if Honda is releasing a car that has all the amenities + DVD players for the kids and it’s 20k, Toyota would look retarded directly competing with it by releasing a car that has 4 wheels, an engine and a steering column with a wrench attached for the same price. By comparison, MKX has ass-warmers and does your taxes while SF5 goes “Power locks? Huh? The doors don’t lock, bro…”
I paid only 25 dollars on SFV, + around 18 for the 2016 season pass. Still, if there is any delay on content delivery I will be pissed. Next week I expect an actual date for march update along with general info (and hopefully Alex reveal trailer).
In both seasons they did. In Season 1 the first 6 characters released at launch in Nov, then Spinal was supposed to come out in January and Fulgore in March. Of course we have to wait till like January 31st for Spinal to come (and there were jokes about him coming out on the 32nd). Fulgore was supposed to come out in March and literally came out on March 32nd as he was delayed until like April 15th or something. Partly probably due to Double Helix leaving the company right at that point to let Iron Galaxy take over.
Season 2 was a bit more streamlined with each character coming month after month, but you never really knew what day they were coming out until sometimes days before they were to release.
I expected solid online play, figured I’d be waiting on future updates to complete the game but after the betas I was hoping the launch would be better. That being said I know they’re working hard on making the game a solid experience. Really, I’m just waiting for Alex/march/shop/story/more characters/ibuki/trials.
You can easily add content and modes to a fighting game, but can’t as easily fix its core gameplay. SFV is both the best game in terms of gameplay and the most accessible to everyone.
If it can’t make it the whole genre will receive a huge hit.
Besides bitter chocolate is usually of anew higher quality.
I took for granted that:
I would be able to play online without any problems - like I could in USFIV.
my stick is supported - like in USFIV
0/2
As to what I expected - a lot more given the price tag. IN IT’S CURRENT STATE (caps for disclaimer) it is worth 20-30$ at most.
I am sure this ridiculous release cost Capcom a shit ton of sales. As of right now metacritic user score has it at 2.4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that low of a score.
I haven’t brought the game yet as I’m currently busy with other things in life. I keep hearing that SFV in its current state is not a finished product and I rather just wait till I’m close to the release of Juri and Balrog. I’ll probably pick it up in a month time and look out for any updates with the game.
