What was the/your first fighting game?

Karate for C64.
I remember playing a boxing game on C64 too, but can’t remember its name.

Well, I wasn’t old enough to know how balanced the version was… I meant graphically it was up to standards. It was not this horrible thing: http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=1021 (check out the in-fight screenshots…)

I remember we didn’t have movelists, so we tried different combinations and when we found something we wrote it down in a little notebook we had lol! Those were the days…

SF2 on the Snes

Mortal Kombat 1

the singleplayer was amazing…
you had to fight everyone including a mirror match + two 1vs2 endurance battles, then Goro stepped in who was awesome, but very hard to beat.

when you defeated Shang Tsung the scene was always epic with the screen freezing in the position of the last hit then flashing with all the souls that come out of him.

even the credits were interesting… MK1 > SF2 in singleplayer

Either SF2 on the snes or BAT on the gameboy.

Virtua Fighter 1 on sega saturn

street fighter 2 SNES

super SF2 (not turbo)
virtua fighter

both the PC versions, we thought we were the shit picking between claw and sim and using only fierce

The first one I really owned, so that I could play it rather than just randomly losing some quarters on a game I didn’t understand was Fatal Fury 2 on SNES.

SF2 snes :woot: damn that brings me back, those were the days.

Same game, same place.

my first must have been yie ar kung fu

but screw it i’m not going to count it as a fighting game so… sf2 snes

I think Street Fighter II: Turbo for the SNES (well what ever had the cover with Honda). Though for the game that got me into fighting games I guess Street Fighter II: World Warrior on the Virtual Console. I enjoyed it so much that I then ordered Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for my PS2 and the rest is history to me.

Mortal Kombat 1.

I actually got pretty good at the original MK3 for a while, stopped playing for years and then it really wasn’t until I picked up UMK3 again that I got good at it… I had moved on to Tekken.

Actually, I didn’t really get into Street Fighter until recently. For the longest time the only SF games I had access to were Genesis Super Street Fighter II (it was too slow, and only had a 3 button pad… horrible), Alpha 3 for PS1, and one of the VS games on an arcade machine locally (SF vs XMen I think).

*I use the term “good” loosely

Karate Champ (NES)

Then SF1. Shit was awful.

Mortal Kombat 1
It was at my grandma’s house on a holiday, I stayed inside and played single player and learned some movelists while they all went and played tag. No one wanted to play it with me after they all came in. ._.

street fighter alpha. 1 or 2 i cant remember :looney:

Mortal kombat 1 , got it around 1995, when i was a kid, friend of my parents gave me it and they system too, though all i did was button mash, but i know better now

Mortal Kombat I for the SNES that I bought at the pawn shop when I was five.
