Let me ask you guys a question. Is someone who leaves a match before it is finished a scrub? I personally don’t think so.
It makes them a sore loser; it might even make them a cheater, depending on the circustances, but it doesn’t make them a scrub.
Or a leaderboard whore.
It makes them a sore loser and someone who cares about their points way too much. These are qualities you don’t find in top players. So yes, they’re scrubs. Their skill level might possibly be high, but their mentality is that of a scrub/child.
If there are points on the line then I say no. If they decide to forfeit their points/game then that is up to their decision. You wouldn’t call it scrubby if a chess master lays down his king in defeat before the actual killing checkmate comes would you? The only problem is most times they don’t award the person who didn’t quit with a win or anything. Then again if they leave during a no-stakes player match then that is being scrubby, there is nothing to lose or gain here, no pride is on the line, finish your damn game.
I really like the things LoL/Dota2 does with abandoners and placing them in queues/lines with other bad players. How about if you disconnect you get to play with other disconnectors for a few days.
Pretty sure Pringles was a reference to continuous Magneto resets (offense) and not poor defense.
Sentinel/Cable/CapCom
Kids nowadays and their silly MvC3.
Yeah once you pop the fun don’t stop, once he hits you his combo never stops.
I didn’t want to have to clarify that, it’s like having to describe what the word “cool” means, haha.
A scrub is a newcomer, they’re the guys who get beaten down like theres no tommorow.
In other words, they have no right to play.
I keep getting called a scrub because this one guy can’t beat my Rose with his T-Suck.
dunno man, MSS is pretty crazy
That’s what the iOS version does - sadly I suspect with (I believe) Sony & Microsoft handling the matchmaking for their consoles it’s not possible for the home versions…
He meant the team… That team’s nickname is “Team Scrub”
You are wrong…probably trying to justify your own scrubbiness with this post.
Anyway, there are some points made in this thread that are pretty questionable…complaining about a game is not scrubby and there are a number of top players that do this. Complaining about getting randomed out, is not scrubby and again, there’s a number of top players that do this.
Being scrubby to me is someone who refuses to play the game the way it’s supposed to be played and usually does not understand the value of many fundamental concepts and strategies. They try to win matches through trying to random you out with silly gimmicks and this is their strategy for pretty much every match. They complain, typically about those fundamental concepts and strategies they don’t understand and will undermine you if you beat them with it. And typically, they are more interested in trying to steal wins and look good using some scoring system that was probably achieved illegitimately through ragequitting or whatnot, as opposed to self improvement, which I think is the most important thing to be thinking about, especially when playing a new game.
A scrub is someone who makes excuses for losing.
EDIT: The first post said it.
I Chunned the f*ck (yet again) out of EvilRyu78’s trashy, taunting Ken the other night on 3sOE, and sent him a message telling him to hurry up and retire, and he shot back calling me a scrub. People like him, who would never have the offline balls to act like this, are the scrubbiest of all in my mind.
Hi-lvl Tekken is basically one move with one char, but with the classy Cap games, and Virtua Fighter, you better recognise, it’s not gonna happen overnight.

RE: Dc’ers
VF 5 FS visibly names and shames them.
 SEGA
There’s many valid excuses for losing. A scrub can complain about losing, but making excuses for losing doesn’t make you a scrub.
