What truly makes someone a scrub?

It was a reference to the old pringles jingles and MVC2 Magneto.
You know the jingle that when “Once you pop you can’t stop” or “once you pop the fun don’t stop”, if you think about it in context for more than 2 seconds you’ll understand it. The problem was people who never got the original reference just started making up meanings for pringles and saying them on stream. After that thousands of stream monsters began using the term in ways they had learned from other people who never knew what it meant in the first place.

Yup. Lacks defense. Crumbles under pressure. Can’t block. Hence, they’re pringles. They’re easy to crack.

You’re a scrub if you show off and fail to back it up, you’re a scrub if you show the saltiness when you lose, you’re a scrub when you disrespect

You’re not totally wrong, but you’re not right either. Read all the previous posts.

So the question is, any scrubs make it far in EVO or any tournament. Because fish make it far all the time in the World Series of Poker!!!

Scrubs win tournaments all the time, because there are places where there is no scene where the entire tournament is scrubs. I think I’ve told the story multiple times of going to a tournament at my ex girlfriend’s college to watch her compete and being antagonized by the scrub running the tournament for 15-30 minutes who kept going on about how I was scared to enter, until I finally broke down and entered the tournament and took all of their money for free. Which was exactly the reason I didn’t sign up in the first place. But yeah, places like that have scrub champions, the only other person who knew what they were doing was my ex-girlfriend and thats because I taught her how to play.

But other than that No, I have never seen a scrub come even close to winning a tournament that had legitimate players in it.

scrubs appear in all shapes and sizes
a scrub is simply someone who pouts or is flabbergasted and cant keep themselves in the moment of a match and what is happening
if you get hit.
if you lose a round.
if you lose the match.
HOLD. THAT. SHIT/ charge it to the game
its as simple as that.

the thing i fucking hate is when i see a casual/tournament match is that they lose the round or they get hit and they get this prissy attitude or try and talk down to them like it was random or they were too good to get hit by that.
no you arent bitch lmfao.

hold that shit.
when the match starts yall are on equal footing until the health bars says otherwise.
there are no such things as scrub tactics.
there is only playing the match and winning or losing.
hold that shit.

What does “hold that shit” mean?

Edit: Also, what does “Charge it to the game” mean?
I don’t understand that post…

^It means accept it and move on

that isn’t what a scrub means at all

please don’t post uninformed shit in the newbie dojo

thanks,

-mods

its a pretty good definition
scrubs deny what works within the confines of a game and cant accept it to get better/ learn from it
the context may have been exaggerated but thats a pretty cut definition. unless you wanna clarify

What you just said there has very little to do with the haiku you posted earlier. :stuck_out_tongue:

it has everything to do with it
I have seen this all the time during matches.
Its a context
people have to learn to accept what happens in matches when you get hit, when you lose, whatever and build from it instead of bitching and complaining. shit ruins the mood and doesnt help people who are trying to get in the community, and it doesnt help anybodys game.
in the match there is winning and losing you are on equal footing till a health bar is depleted.

anyone that plays a character that I can’t deal with is a scrub

It’s not though, is it. 99% of the time the intent is to insult someone’s skill at a particular game. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I heard someone using it in the other ‘correct’ context.

I first encountered the term “scrub” when I was browsing the TV Tropes articles.

i remember at evo this year there was a guy who entered the skullgirls tourney whose tag was “master scrub”

im pretty sure he actually didnt show up for his matches.

make of that what you will…

Scrub:
(Noun) A player who will not acknowledge a lack of skill, but will rather blame outside forces such as the opposite player being cheap (the definition of this is variable based upon the player using it, see below), the controller being faulty, or the game itself being a poorly designed one. This player will not progress skill wise until they change into a Good Player.

Cheap:
(Noun/Adjective) A tactic that a scrub (see above) cannot counter. This tactic is almost always beatable by thinking, patience, practice, or all of the above and is almost never as OP as believed to be by the scrub.

You’re a scrub. Why should a person change their tactics if they can use one move over and over to beat you? You’re a scrub for not beating the same tactic over and over. You’re a scrub for thinking using a tactic until it stops working is wrong and you’re a scrub for not realizing it.
