If it was the USB cable, wouldn’t the stick not be getting power? The xbox guide button stays lit even when it stops working, leading me to believe it’s not the cable.
I used a soldering iron like once or twice 7 years ago… if it’s just a few points I can probably look up how to do it and manage, or find a friend to do it for me.
If your d+ and/or d- lines are damaged the stick can act up while keeping power. Usb is only 4 wires, it’s pretty easy if you know soldering basics. There’s also the phreakmods usb repair tool to do it without soldering, though you could upgrade the pcb for a bit more than it costs.
You probably won’t see any damage, typical usb cable damage is somewhere along the length where it’s regularly twisted or bent at a sharp angle. Madactz typically uses 3mm allen bolts, it’s better to go in from the top with the way their shells are constructed (at least on the TE models, I suspect yours is either a fightstick pro or a VS model since you said it’s got SFxT on it).
If it does turn out to be a problem with the pcb itself, we can help walk you through replacing that as well. There are some pretty easy options available, some are even solderless.
Is there such a thing as a square gate fightpad? Basically a square gate joystick with micro switches that I can control with my thumb and buttons just like on any regular controller
Ok cause I have a rap4 and it fights in the backpack I bought but now i was able to order a te2+ through my GameStop. Also with having it in my backpack if the stick gets stuck to one side will it mess it up?
What are the “new HAYABUSA buttons?” Are those the kuros that everyone seems to hate, are they a better version of the kuro, are they the “falcons” that were being talked about? I just want to know if the buttons on this stick still suck. Someone on my local CL is selling one that is basically brand new for $100.
@Splitoris I would not recommend it, but it is fine for short periods of time. I don’t think it will hurt it as much as playing with it will. Someone probably has something else to say though. Also, Q&A thread is good for this kind of question.
fyi took my tes+ to final round hoping to use it for all games i entered (t7, ttt2, sfv). tried to testdrive it in t7 casuals before the tournament only to find it didn’t register in either ps3 or ps4 mode. luckily markman was nearby so i asked if the t7 computers accepted other people’s sticks to which he replied that “yeah but it has to be a ps4 stick.” “i just tried my new tes+ and i couldn’t get it to register in either mode.” “oh, yeah, no. they don’t work with any of the new sfv stuff.” …
…
… …
so half the stations were divided up into stations with ds4s and te2s and the other half had ds4s and hraps. during casuals i was able to do okay using the stock te2 (i have a 2lb spring and battop on my tes+). once tournament came i got switched to the hrap side for my pools. i don’t think i managed to get a single giant swing to come out my first game using the hrap. ended up switching to ds4 for the second game and fared better but still lost the match. i somehow managed to win my next two matches using the hrap but i was still having loads of input errors. for my third match in losers i fought the guy who initially bopped me again and he took it.
long story short. t7 machines don’t work with the new sfv sticks (presumably the pads too but i dunno for sure). and i’m not a fan of hraps. ://////////
Man, I never saw that thread. I can see a market for it, but woof. Interestingly, I think I’d find the exact opposite to be more to my liking. Not to my liking, but more so.
Thought I’d throw in my $.02 as it may help others like myself. I have an HRAP4 Kai on hand and a TES+ in the mail.
Old school gamer, my best days were playing in the arcade, pizza joint, 7/11, etc. I’m not a precise or technical player, button mash my ass off when I’m in trouble. I am looking to capture some of that arcade feeling at home, not only for nostalgia but also for my muscle memory and gameplay. I’ve always been a better SF player in the arcade.
I just received a HRAP4 Kai and have about 6hr on it, playing SFV, here are my thoughts…
I love that it’s a stick. Never play with a pad again kinda love.
Fits in my lap okay, it can slip a bit. The HRAP4 is about 3-4" narrower on the bottom than on the top. I’m 5’10" 185lb and in my seated position the bottom edges sit just between the peaks of my quads.
Square gate is not what I’m use to at all. It’s really weird at first but I’m getting use to it. I thought I would hate the round ball and would for sure swap it for a bat top, but it’s more precise than I ever remember being, so I’m going to keep it… For now
The stick is not as stiff as I would like but it’s smooth like butter. If it was smooth and returned to neutral with more force I’d be happy.
Good weight but honestly I would like it to be heavier. It’s not a toy but for me it’s on the edge of being one.
The buttons are laid out fantastic, didn’t have vewlix (sp?) back in my day.
The buttons don’t have that clickly feeling I remember. I felt like they returned slow when I first pulled it out of the box but I didn’t notice it while playing. Don’t love or hate them.
I’ll put in more time in tonight and tomorrow until my TES+ shows up. I’ll post my initial thoughts after playing on the TES+ for the day. If the TES+ is a touch wider and heavier (I’ve read it is) plus more clicky buttons then chances are that’s the one I’ll keep.
Overall if the HRAP4K is the only stick I ever touch I think I’ll be pretty happy with it.
I’ve used the Hrap 4 non Kai where the buttons are closer to the stick(I think it’s exactly the same as the VLX) and I have no issues, my hands are pretty average too.
Unless your whole fist is over the stick I don’t see how both your hands would be close to each other.
