Which fightstick should I buy for Street Fighter 5? 6 or 8 Button? Blaz Blue Radio Joystick (Tokyo Game Show 2015 Exclusive) or TE-2? I have a Madcatz SE with Sanwa Buttons and Joystick and is a 8 Button layout but my finger doesn’t seem to want to push the other 2 buttons.
You don’t NEED an 8 button stick for SF5. If you are more comfortable with a 6, then go for it! Since you are coming from a MCZ SE stick, I would wager that the Blaz stick would suit you better due to its smaller size.
You know for all the complaints I’ve read on here about TE2 sticks, alot of people on stream sure do use them. Havent seen one TES+. I originally went for the TE2 but canceled after I read the following:
Annoying screw-in wire
Top glass creaks
Stick feeling hollow
Starting to think perhaps this was certain batches…
seeing as how the original te2 came out well before the tes+ or te2+ it’s not surprising to see more te2s (+ or otherwise) out in the wild. ya know? i’ve been using the tes that came w/tekken hybrid and it’s by far my favorite stick and would’ve loved to continue to use it. i can only hope the tes+ holds up as well as the original tes has
hey guys ! , thanks for first post ! is amazing but it’s so much information in one time !
it’s my question

what’s the best choice for buy a fightpad ( i see madcatz one and the Hori Commander 3 )
but i’m thinking about madcatz D-Pad seems to be difficult , and like i can’t feel comfortable with it
thanks if anyone help me to choice best fight pad ( and have good configuration with PC ** and maybe i want use it on Ps3/PS4 ) aswell ( Wired/Wireless dosen’t matter for me )
and price about 50 $ ? or 60 or less
thank you all guys <3
edit : i heard about madcatz D-pad is suck !!! like it’s very bad … i will not buy madcatz i think … ( i can’t mod them too )
tes+ arrived yesterday. didn’t have much time to mess w/it but build quality seems on par with the original. gonna swap out for bat top and 2lb spring after work and also throw in those button dampener pads. is the top plate (skull design) on the tes+ a cardstock+glue or is it a plexi that can just be taken off?
Wondering if there is a finite number of the TE2+ sticks being made? Obviously, rent comes before sticks, so I haven’t been able to get my hands on one yet. I cancelled Amazon pre-order on 2/1 and NewEgg pre-orders to avoid double billing and pay rent. Are the sticks so far back-ordered that I may not get one until April?
I was hoping to get one by end of next week…
yikes. seems like the march ones are all out direct from madcatz. if you had ordered last week they were supposed to ship 3/3. now the te2+ just says out of stock with no future shipping date listed. don’t know what to tell ya
tes+ are in stock and shipping though. it’s cheaper, sturdier, and better looking (imo of course) but it obviously lacks the ease of customizing offered by the 2+. if you ordered today it would almost certainly arrive before the end of next week (assuming you’re in usa)
Here’s my take, and don’t let this seem like bias because I have a Kuro sitting in the trading outlet. I would take a VLX over a TE2 any day of the week. The only reason I am selling my Kuro is because I also have a Diamond and an OG Red. As much as I wanted to “catch them all” I realized I just had too many arcade sticks and several of them weren’t feeling “special” to me any more. Diminishing marginal utility at its best.
The VLX sticks are in the top tier of quality due to being 90% metal and built to be as close to a real arcade control panel as possible. They will stand the test of time, retain their value and maybe even appreciate a little. I don’t think you will ever regret the purchase of a VLX.
TE2s are good arcade sticks. I applaud MCZ for the added features over the original TE. Their execution may not be perfect, but at least they tried. That being said, it is definitely apparent where corners were cut to keep costs low. They also release a billion variants of them. Some are rare, some aren’t, but at the end of the day, your stick will be like everyone else’s.
I bought a VLX and I didn’t want or need to do anything to it.
I bought a TE2 and right away knew I needed to replace the crappy plexi. I can spin the buttons in their sockets by hand, and the non-standard cable port is more of a hassle than not. They expect people to unscrew it, open the lid and throw it in the stick. I prefer a small cable door on the back. God forbid you break or lose the cable because finding replacement parts is next to impossible. You’re better off modding it to be a proper USB cable. The case itself has poor fitment and parts don’t align correctly, which leads to the creaking people complain about.
If I had to sell every stick I own, except for one, I would keep one of my VLXs.
