What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting

The HRAP is fine, and probably saved you asstons of money too.

Legacy support on SFV confirmed.

Just buy a PS3 stick.

Not everyone shopping for a stick for SF5.

Very true.

So with the recent announcement that PS3-sticks work in SF5, I have begun to question with stick to get. I was originally going to get the new PS4 TE2+, but have now been thinking about last-gen dual molded sticks (Qanba and Eightarc) since I also play Marvel.
Now I have no idea…

It would be saving money, but how long do they normally last?

Never had a Hori stick crap out on me before. I just got the HRAP4 Kai yesterday and build quality seems really good. The cable compartment door is nowhere near as bad as they say in the reviews but only time will tell.

Hori products are just as good if not better than Mad Catz from my experience of 15+ sticks

Hori EX2.

Coming from Xbox 360, I’d just ordered a TE2 hours before legacy support was announced for SF V. Guess I’ll keep it for playing GG Xrd Revelator too.

How does the legacy support work? Would a 360 stick work on PS4?

It only supports PS3 periphs.

Would a 360 stick work on PS4?
No.

For legacy support, you need a 3rd party PS3 controller, Dual Shock 3 and Six Axis controllers do not work.

@SHSL_Street_Fighter @Darksakul Was wondering since @Ikki said he was coming from Xbox 360 so I thought he meant his 360 stick could work.

No, I meant I didn’t have a PS3 stick. Sorry for the confusion.

I’m torn between the HRAP 4 Kai Silent and the VLX. It seems the VLX has the same components as the regular HRAP 4 Kai but just a better build quality while the silent has different buttons and the optical stick. Am I mistaken in this? Can anyone who’s used both chime in with a recommendation? Thanks.

If you want a big sexy 50% metal stick buy the VLX, if you want a silent stick that’s plastic and lighter buy the 4 Kai Silent, depending what VLX you mean the new one comes with new Hori buttons that no one has really tested(except for some customers and arcade cabs in Japan) and the Kai Silent comes with Hori kuro buttons with foam pads to make it silent.

The Kai Silent has the same buttons just with silencer pads. The lever is mostly the same except instead of microswitches it uses optical sensors. I’d say go for the Kai as it’s much cheaper so you have much more room for modding. If money’s not an issue then ofc VLX is awesome.

@Tensho Actually the lever is Hayabusa and the buttons are Kuro. They’re pretty much used in all of Hori’s premium sticks. Only difference is on the Silent versions the stick has optical sensors instead of microswitches and the buttons are padded.

What are your plans for the stick? I would not recommend a VLX if you want to travel with it. It’s too heavy and too valuable. That being said, if you are only going to play at home, VLX all the way. IMO, they’re the best mass produced stick out there, and very few customs come close.

I’d probably be playing at home almost exclusively. Life demands prevent much travel for me currently.

Is the VLX just as easy to replace parts in as the Kai? Thanks for everyone’s input so far.
