yea they are for th kids for him i woulda said vlx
My daughters are going to experience what it really feels like to play fighting games without fighting over for the sticks lol !!
Thanks guys… very much appreciated.
By the way, this is a great forum… Very informative and heaps of help around every thread.
Great to read and the art / modding section is just jaw dropping !
Hi, everyone … this is my first post.
I am looking for arcade stick for ps3:
size and shape design like datel;
but buttons on press lights red (does sanwa has them)?
artwork Mortal Kombat?
any hint, should i consider some custom ones (budget is around 200usd)?
Madcatz te is your best bet to keep in budget and be happy about easy mods… Light up on press is a mod that currently no store bought stick comes with stock…there are tutorials on how to led your push buttons but of you arent comfortable with modding after you read the tutorials there are experienced modders on this forum that can do it for you for a fee. Welcome to srk tech talk btw!
If you’re willing to drop the dough, go buy a custom stick from Shadaloo Xtreme Fightsticks. I just bought one from them about a week ago. I must say it’s undoubtedly sweet. Custom HD artwork, transparent sanwa parts, and a custom signature. Like I said though, you have to be willing to spill the cash. Mine costed $400 but it was definitely worth it.
Here’s a pic of it here :smokin:

Nice suggestion but customs are outside of the scope of this guide.
Hey guys, I need some help choosing a stick. I live in the UK and at the moment I can get a TE round 2 stick (360) or a Hori VX for a good price (£100). Or I can wait for a Qanba Q4 which should be in stock by the end of the month (I don’t like waiting!) and that will cost a bit more. Above all I want the best quality stick for a good price. I hear TE-S sticks are the best quality but I can’t get a hold of those. Thanks in advance.
Grab the TE. The Hori VX(unless it is a HRAP) doesn’t have sanwa parts. If you do want the Qanba, it is a good stick and you will probably be satisfied with it.
Just ordered the TE round 2 :D. Thanks for the help. The only reason I wanted the Qanba was for its multiplat compatibility. Anyways I’m getting a TE by the end of the week if I’m lucky.
TE sticks are very good. However every xbox TE round 1 and 2 stick I have had(around 4) have sufferered from the Rt and Lt buttons cutting out.
Madcatz will send you replacement if it is in warranty.
Most recently my most used round 2 stick keeps cutting out the Trigger button on a daily basis now. It’s out of warranty and madcatz refuse to help in anyway at all.
I understand all I need is a new pcb from madcatz but they can’t send/sell me one.
So I’m stuck with this unreliable stick.
So today I ordered a qanba q4 from gremlin for £132.
I have not told my wife!
Don’t buy madcatz round 1 or 2. I love the sticks and the fault only occurs rarely normally but makes you lack full confidence it the product.
Honestly in a forum full of Arcade stick modders, a dead or malfunctioning PCB is never a issue. Most people here will tell you to switch to a 6 button layout and ignore the 2 trigger buttons as “6 buttons are cool, 8 buttons is Dick”. But I do see your point. Also as the newer Qanba Q4 hasn’t been around for a while I know nothing of its long term reliability, only the test of time will tell.
Guide Update:
Arcade Stick Information edited/ Corrected with help of jmd714
If you’re referring to the right most 2 buttons it wouldn’t bother me as I only 6 buttons on my current stick. I’ve already ordered anyway, lets just hope I never have any such problems.
Hi I will be purchasing a MadCatz TE relatively soon (hopefully within the next week or so) and I was wondering if there are any concerns with this item:
I intend on using it on my PC for SSFIV AE. I’ve read that Xbox controllers work easier out of the box on PC. Is there anything else worth waiting for or anything wrong with this item?
Thank you (plan on using the CC coupon to support gootecks and mike ross)
Tough call there, very tough call. Both are Hraps, both work on PS1 and PS2.Both discontinued. Both are excellent sticks.
Only noticeable difference other than color is the button layout. I say choose the layout that is the most comfortable for you.
No issues I know of. Nothing wrong with the TE-S.
Would I recommend anything else? At this point it all boils down to preference and your play style.
Mad Catz TE-s and the Hori Real arcade Pro (VX/V3) are almost even. The Hrap is a little better built but it cost a little more. So for you dollar your getting about the same value. Qanba Q4 cost more and it has not been in the market for very long so I can’t speak about how it is long term.
A real decider is your chosen budget, got approx $140 to 170 got for the TE, Hrap is slightly more rugged but cost more (approx $160 to 200)
Qanba Q4 is about $200
Make sure you also factor shipping + handling cost into your purchase any applicable sales tax.
Right now since US sites that carry the Qanba is on short supply you have to order one overseas which will greatly increase shipping cost.
Thanks for the quick and prompt reply Darksakul. The stick I linked comes out to a total (with coupon) of $142.49 including shipping and handling (no sales tax here in Oregon) and $148.72 for 2 day business shipping. I’m pretty sold on a TE stick at this point plus I get to help out CrossCounter TV using the coupon \o Seems like a decent price.
I have button plugs in the last two buttons and agree that 8 button layout is not as cool. The buttons that cut out are the roundhouse kick and x3 kick.
If you look around it is a very common problem. My own experiences confirm it. It’s such a highly rated stick and I can see why but seriously with so many defective sticks like this I personally would not recommend them as perfect. Madcatz know of this problem, just ask them. Also proper stick modders know that madcatz pcb are trash. I am disowning madcatz now and trying Qanba.
Wish me luck with my new purchase. It’s on pre order so I should have it at the start of September.
Can we all refrain from using such harsh language. Especially when it’s from an issue that affect only 2-3 models of a stick that has almost a dozen version now.
