The Hrap V4 has the same body as the Hrap VX and V3 with the Fighting Edge’s Hayabusa joystick and Kuro buttons.
The Hayabusa parts are on-par with Sanwa parts. I personally really do not like Kuro buttons as they squeak until you break them in (keep in mind I also don’t like Sanwa buttons).
The Hayabusa joystick on the other-hand despite being a JLF clone in my opinion better than the JLF.
I’m a PC player using a keyboard atm, so I was looking for a good stick to start off with. The Hori V4 Hayabusa (PS3/4) and the Hori v3 SA Kai (PS3) both look good, but is the Kai PC compatible (I’ve found no definitive answer when I’ve looked around)? Also assuming price is not an issue, which should I go for, the V4 Hayabusa or the V3 SA Kai?
No experience on either stick. But since you’re a keyboard player, you might want to look into playing on a Hitbox.
Instead of an arcade stick + buttons, it’s 4 buttons replacing the 4 directions on an arcade stick, along with the other attack buttons. It might be an easier transition for you, since you’re already used to playing on a keyboard, and a Hitbox is basically a customized keyboard for console play.
I’ve looked at them, but they’re too expensive for me and It’d probably be better in the long run if I got used to the stick. I’m also not a huge fan of the button placement in the hitbox.
EDIT: I’ve done some more research and found that some owners of the HRAP v3 SA KAI (PS3) have had troubles with using it on PC. Can anyone who is an owner of the stick confirm this for me? I was considering getting a Qanba Q1 for a similar price, the parts are lower quality, but it’s guaranteed to work on PC.
I have to start being more active on here hahaha. I wanted to ask if you’re no longer selling PS360+'s since the link is dead on your site. I’m definitely going to be ordering the case in the beginning of February though!
Im a bit confused about the hori hayabusa stick. What’s the difference between v3 and v4? This one on that says it’s v3 but looks identical to the v4 (http://m.ebay.com/itm/111495994636?nav=SEARCH)
Is the v3 only for ps3? Or can it also work on the ps4? Thanks
I’m currently looking for my first stick but my options are limited because i want to order from EU. The qanba q1 is currently the only stick that is cheap enough. My current plan is to order the qanba with qanba parts and replace them with better ones.
I play DOA, Tekken and mortal kombat, should i get the sanwa stick or the crown 303FK? Does the crown even fit into the qanba q1?
The qanba q1, sanwa OBSF buttons and the crown 303FK would cost me 143 euros, are there better sticks for that money?
I don’t know about the availability over there, but the new Mayflash 360/ps3 stick would be a much better choice in the same price tier if it’s an option. Aside from being dual compatible out of the box, consensus seems to be that the parts are better and the case is far superior. I can’t say for sure, but I think the q1 would be too shallow for the 303-fk.
So, I want to buy a new arcade stick for the 360. I feel like d-pad, as comfortable as I’ve gotten, is really limiting my execution potential. I used to own the Tekken 6 stick. I sold it because I found it really hard to pull off even basic charge moves. The thing is I’ve been playing fighters since the 90’s, I didn’t see anything else I could have done differently with the Tekken 6 stick.
I mean, there are only so many ways you can hold the stick, no? Anyway, can someone recommend a solid stick for beginners? Also, is there a difference between square gate and octo gate? I don’t know much about this stuff. Thanks in advance!
I’m going to spend some time browsing this thread now.
Although I’ve used the term “beginners stick” many times, I can’t recommend anything but a stick with quality parts even for budget reasons. Arcade sticks with quality parts don’t depreciate in value and don’t need to be upgraded down the road. Any Hori, Madcatz, or Qanba stick with all Sanwa or Seimitsu parts is good. Make sure that once you find one with those parts in your budget, do research on that particular stick and verify it has a common ground PCB for easier multi-mod expansion in the future
As for the square/octo gate differences, there’s a ton of resources on preference here in SRK TT, but there’s nothing wrong with a stock square gate. Especially considering most fighting games were designed for arcade play in Japan where square gates were/are common.
If you think your game will improve by switching to a octagonal gate or circle gate you’re mistaken. Nothing will improve your game or muscle memory other than practice. Training mode is your friend.
Everyone has a preference, but preference doesn’t lead to success. 90%+ of all top players whom use an arcade stick use a square gate for a reason.
If you want to try a circular or octagonal gate, they’re easily available and they’re cheap. By all means, feel free to experiment, but many think that by using either of those gates, you’ll develop bad habits.
I think the biggest reason for high level players sticking with the square is because it’s the default option. You can use house sticks if yours fails, candy cabs generally have the square, etc.
What’s the difference between the Madcatz Ultra TE stick and the Xrd TE stick? I’ve been looking to buy one but not sure if I want to wait for the Xrd sticks to be back in stock.
New to the fighting game scene, but I already know I want the arcade stick (for throwback reasons). Its going to be used on XBONE and (hopefully, eventually) PC. It seems like my options are few, so I’m trying to decide between the Razer Atrox for Xbox One and the Mad Catz TE2 for Xbox One. I browsed the most recent posts and found a lot of useful information, but it seems like not a lot of info was given about the Xbox One version of the Atrox. I wasn’t sure if that was because it just came out or because it was so similar to the 360 version.
I’m assuming one of the first questions that will be asked to help pick between the two will be if I actually plan to modify it or not (in which case, I would assume, would point me towards the Atrox). I’m not sure how much I’ll actually want to mod it in the future, but having that option is very welcome.
I’ll list the things that I like about both, for you guys to either embrace or reject:
I like the Atrox for the rubber pad on the bottom, the honeycomb layout for easy modification, the cord (in a video review I watched, it was wrapped in a shoelace style, which I would imagine gives it more flexibility), and how heavy and bulky it looks (I don’t want flimsy plastic that feels weak or too light).
I like the TE2 for the space within for storage (but who cares, this thing isn’t for storing things), the possibility of having LED lit buttons, and the fact that the other arcade sticks made by Mad Catz are held in seemingly good regard with the community here. I don’t like that it doesn’t look as sturdy or durable (to my untrained eye). (Edit: Also, I was thinking that if I did add any mods to it, the screws would probably show on the outside, which is not as aesthetically pleasing.)
I hope this post is good enough and I look forward to hearing back from you guys. Thanks for having me!
