Both should work but none are guaranteed to. PS3 is typically easier with PC but if you ever plan on dual-modding it, the 360 version will benefit you more.
The typical standard corporate response from both Mad Catz and Hori is that there arcade controllers are only to be used with the systems they are intended for.
And they offer no assistance in PC compatibility.
What’s the best choice I have from this website : http://www.amazon.it/ , in a max 40 E budget? I have no preferences , the only controller I’ve ever used was a sweex GA100 , it was so poorly made that the d pad was almost unusable , way too stiff to even execute a special move in a game like Guilty Gear.
PC , stick or pad , both work with me , I want to try something different , I’m playing on a keyboard right now. But I don’t think 40E would be enough for a usable stick or am I wrong?
I am looking to get a silent PS3 stick with minimum fuss, are there options that are mostly already built, or with pretty easy DIY? I know Sanwa had a pretty decent optical stick and silent buttons, I don’t know if it’s available at retail or if there are other companies making sticks like that now (I’m not a fan of Seimitsu sticks but I’m open to other options). Thanks
Everything related to fighting games is ridiculously expensive here , but ordering from the us + shipping + vat + border fees and such , I’d end up with probably just the same price. My other option would be ordering from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de/fr ,I’m limited to eu.
The only downside would be its cost, but then again, you get a lot for your money. It’s a very sturdy stick which is great both on your lap and on a table.
Imo, it doesn’t offer much beyond the standard flagship sticks from each major stick manufacturer that hover around the $150-$180 range, but it sure is puuurty.
Yup, I have to get an arcade stick. I had an accident in football years ago which broke/ripped my thumb joints. After fighting online for a while I noticed my handicap was really getting in the way. I was alright with SSB for years, but in most other fighters you’re going to get a lot of double back and 360 commands. I can actually pull off multiples S/HD Cancels in KOF, but when I get tired I can’t even dash backwards. I won’t even get started on 1st/2nd player side transition.
But 178 dollars…I think I’m gonna be sick…Only thing I’ve ever bought for more than 200 was a console…
I ended up getting a Qanba Q2 pro. The LED edition, since I’m a sucker for the glassy look and the lights. Thankfully I’m not that new to arcade setup in the first place. I originally wanted the standard version for it’s ambidexterity but then I remembered my left pinky is also broken so yeah…
First post here and I’m entertaining the idea of getting a fightstick. So far after distilling this thread backwards I’ve narrowed the choice down to some kind of newer Mad Catz Pro or TE stick considering the easier ability for a dual mod and general case mods.
But before I go down that road, I was also thinking about going with Hori. Unfortunately, it sounds like some newer Hori fightsticks are having issues with multiplatform modding such as the PC? In addition, I read a complaint about connections in some sticks not sharing a common ground, etc.
Would someone please elaborate the situation with the newer Hori fightsticks like the FE or HRAP VX SA Kai? Do these only have issues connecting to PC only? Any issues with swapping out parts or getting custom top panels to modify button layout?
Ebay. I’ve had some crazy bargains from there, made some silly offers which were accepted (mint HRAP EX 360 for just under 30 being my fave so far), and as long as you are tenacious with your auction watching you can get some steals. Aside from that on such a low budget I wouldn’t now what to suggest.
Any thoughts on these two sticks? I already read page 1, so I just need more input:
Madcatz Tournament Edition 1
Hori Real Arcade Pro V3 SA
I’m planning to buy them used because I do not have cash to buy new at the moment and I am mainly going to use it for practice with the following criteria:
Needs/Wants:
Heavy. I used to play with a borrowed SFxT Fightstick Pro and I want it to be around the same weight as well. Heavier than that would also be great but I only have limited choices here.
I also have the option to buy a Fighting Stick V3 but that thing is very light in my book. Maybe I should open and put rocks inside it…
Durable? I read that the TE1 has problems with the PCB, but will its moddability (is this even a word) can make up for it? Although it may lead to more spendings if that is the case.
I usually practice on PC, and play with people on PS3/Arcade, so the stick should be compatible with PS3/PC. I’m guessing both sticks I mentioned above are compatible with PS3/PC as well?
As a followup for #3, I will mainly use it at home, for practice. I can borrow a better(?) stick from people if I will play outside which is what I usually do. Bringing my own stick is probably better though…
Budget:
The price for the used TE1 is around $80, and the used HRAPv3 is around $115, both converted to USD. So my budget would be around at that price.
…or is it worth spending a few more $ to get myself a new one instead? Not sure which good sticks are available locally though, I may have to check stores in malls for that first. IIRC, I think a new HRAPv3 is about $150 locally.
I also live outside US so access buying outside our country, like eBay/US/China/Japan, may not be possible at all, as the shipping/customs will add more to the cost.
TE R1 is heavier than the SFxT Fightstick Pro. HRAP v3 is pretty light. Perhaps even lighter than the SFxT Pro (don’t quote me on that last one)
Don’t waste your money on a FSV3
The PCB issues that existed for the early versions of the TE were few and far between and it’s easily the most customizable stick with one of the largest workspaces for other PCBs available.
As long as you get the PS3 versions of them yes.
No reason to borrow a stick from anyone if you own a TE as it’s one of the best you can buy (IMO the earlier versions of TEs aka Round1/Round2/TE-S/TE-SChunLi etc are MUCH better than the later SFxT Pro sticks in many ways despite the older PCB and lack of lock function working on Start & Select on R1 & R2 models)
Honestly if you can get a PS3 TE for $80 then do so. With the customization options, space for installation, reliability, quality of case and your price you’ll be good.
HRAP v3 is a nice product, but I don’t believe spending that extra amount is worth what you get.
Source: I own 1 HRAP v3 and about 15 Madcatz R1 & R2 sticks
Never used a fight stick before so I can’t say 100% what I want on alot of things.
Need- Something that can work on PC, …Needs to work with USF4
Wants- I heard Sanuwa buttons are the best for the price so those, I think I would like something non-mini as well…but not %100 sure.
Budget- Looking for something $100…$120 Max
I was looking at these on amazon but can’t decide, I’ll accept other recommendations too.
1.Mad Catz Arcade FightStick PRO for PlayStation 3-$100 new. I’m not too knowledgable about PC’s despite building my own, I know that I have an ASRock Extreme 4, with an intel chipset I think, my CPU is intel i5 4670k Heard this stick has problems with nivida chipsets and nivida is in some intel motherboards
2.Mad Catz Street Fighter X Tekken - Arcade FightStick PRO for PS3- Used like new $100
3.Mad Catz SoulCalibur V Arcade FightStick SOUL Edition for Playstation 3- Used very good- $89
I know 360 is almost guaranteed to work on PC’s but those seem to cost alot more on amazon so…
I was also thinking of getting this -Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate for JLF Joysticks, which will apparently help me do certain moves better.
The issue with UHCI protocols and Mad Catz sticks has been resolved in newer models. The issue mainly with The Mad Catz Street Fighter IV SE, The TE round 1 and TE Round 2, With the Chun Li TE-S and later stick fixed this issue by going to OHCI Protocols. UHCI stands for Universal Host Controller Interface, it is a proprietary interface created by Intel for USB . UCHI requires a license from Intel for use, why AMD boards and many Nvida mother boards lack UHCI protocols. Note the PS3 supports UHCI, OHCI and EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller Interface).
Keep in mind officially both Mad Catz and Hori do not recommend PC use for any of there PS3 or Xbox 360 controllers as the devices are “only meant to be used for its intended use”.
Now this is just the corporate answer both companies will give to avoid liability when a stick is incompatible with a PC.
Now 3rd party PCB (printed circuit boards) like the Cthulhu, Cerberus and the PS360 will work with the PC just fine.
