Installing a pad hack is easier if you aren’t worried about keeping ps3 compatibility. Basically, you could buy or trade for one where someone has already done the soldering and qd crimping, then disconnect the existing pcb altogether. You would need to add a button for home if you wanted to avoid further soldering though.
If you don’t have the money, you’ve got to do the work yourself. If you don’t know how to do the work, you’ve got to spend money. No two ways of going about it. It’s quite enjoyable learning how to work with electronics though and doesn’t require a master’s in electrical engineering to learn how to work on your own arcade stick.
PCB’s aren’t too pricey depending on which one you get. You can pick up an old, used, possibly semi-broken controller and just pull the guts out and mod it that way. The next step is to buy an aftermarket PCB, such as a Cthulu or PS360+ (Around $30 and $60 respectively) and install those in. They require little-to-no soldering depending on what you want and are quite user-friendly to install.
They definitely don’t lag if you do it right. It’s the most direct way to achieve a dual-mod without any interference from bad converters.
I actually want hard buttons (my fingers are permanently swollen and heavier than the the palms they stick off of) but I would like a stick that’s very fluid. I don’t need anything made to last freaking years cuz I work and I doubt I’ll play enough to put a scratch on the thing. Besides my budget being subpar for this stuff is an understatement considering the average price on the front page. Anyone got a suggestion?
Thanks. It’ll be a while before I get one, but I wanted to research early. I know I’m the type to rush a buy just because I see a deal. Definitely not the thing to do with this stuff.
I would also add that in theory, please correct me if I’m mistaken, but you can fit just about any type of keyboard switch into Gamerfinger buttons and to that end there are some Cherry switches with 75g or more resistance.
Looking to get a stick that works with Xbox One/PC. I’ve seen a few posts here mentioning driver issues with Xbox sticks on the PC? Does anyone here have/used the Xbox One Atrox and do you think this is a good starter choice? I’m mostly just looking for quality and something that works well with both. Any suggestions/info would be great
He’s talking about modding right? (I’m completely fine with that, by the way. I have this story about a steering wheel for GT4 I bought from Goodwill…well in the end it wasn’t broken to start with. Couldn’t start it up. lol)
Wait, for switches(I assume this means the joystick) I’d rather have a lot of smoothness. As in little to no resistance (unless that’s an easy way to break it, then I’m just fine so long as it doesn’t make the gate feel clunky) My younger brother has the Hyperkin K.O. Fighting stick. The joystick for that one is just plain terrible and I’d never want anything even close to that. I don’t remember how I felt about the buttons, but they weren’t anywhere near as annoying as the stick (if it’s important for input I can go check upstairs. I believe he left it as he’s college-bound.)
Hey guys, I’ve been considering buying the Qanba Q4 Black (do the colors even matter?) and am wondering on what others have to say about it. The OP says that there are dropped inputs and I kinda skimmed some posts and people say that’s not true. Can anyone give some insight on that? I’m also interested in the dual mod part since I want to play Xrd once it comes out but my current stick (Soul Cal V 360) isn’t dual modded and it costs around $100 to dual mod it from my local modder anyways. So I’m wondering if the dual mod on the stick is good or not. I also want a new stick since i don’t like how the buttons curve more compared to other sticks. I suck with these things so I cant mod it myself
Basically I’m wondering is this stick an ok upgrade to the Soul Cal V Stick.
Edit: Kinda off topic but does wrapping your cord around your stick actually cause problems? I generally do that already on my stick…
Lots of people use the q4, though it does seen to have reliability issues (read the quanba thread here). If you really want it anyways, you could probably sell the sc stick without too much trouble (particularly since it’s the 360 version) to help fund it.
So, I’ve already got a 360 stick (a Madcatz TE-S) and have recently arrived at a situation where I have some disposable income, and wanna buy a PS3 stick. I’m looking at the Hori Fighting Edge right now because damn that thing is pretty; however, it seems like its too new to be in the OP of this thread. I’ve heard the Hori parts that come in it are solid, but I’m used to the standard Sanwa stuff…will it be a pain to switch back and forth between them? And how easy is this stick to mod (just internal stuff like swapping springs/buttons etc, not gonna art mod)?
Hey all, just recently decided to begin seriously learning fighters. I will only be playing on PC for now and I’m trying to decide between the MadCatz Pro since it’s on sale right now or the Hori VX/V3. I’m also curious which one of each would be better for only PC, though I suppose I should keep cross-console in mind. I’m currently working on Skullgirls, USF4, and KOF XIII.
Also, since I’m posting, does anyone have recommendations for characters to start with in those games? I used to main Faust in Guilty Gear and Arakune in BlazBlue:CT and will most likely be maining Peacock in Skullgirls, though I’ve heard she needs a support to really shine.
