It isn’t bad at all, its alot like the Hrap V3 SA except it comes with Hauabusa joystick and kuro buttons instead of Sanwa parts
recommendations for a USB pad? playing with a keyboard on my laptop right now is just awful.
Anything from the Madcatz line will do fine. Anything better will require mods and/or converters to make them feel right.
Hello everyone!
How responsive are quality Arcade sticks? I bought a cheap ass chinese made plastic arcade stick thingy which seems to work pretty much whenever it feels like it just to get the feel for this controller type. Suddenly I was doing better than on d-pad so I decided to order a Hori Real arcade pro VX SA KAI arcade stick to give it a real try. Now, while i’m waiting for my proper stick to arrive I started thinking how big of a difference there must be with a 20 dollar chinese arcade stick when compared to something like the Hori stick mentioned above? I mean, this chinese piece of plastic takes ALOT of strength to use because it seems to register the movement when it jams against the side of the socket. Everytime I look at someone using an arcade stick on youtube or somewhere and they have actual proper stick they look like they don’t have to do anything in order for the stick to move.
It’s going to be a huge difference for the better. Sanwa parts (what your new sick has) are very soft and responsive. The tension on the lever is light (you can change that with a different spring if desired) and the buttons are almost feather sensitive.
So I ordered the Madcatz 360 Pro fightstick back during Evo weekend when they had it for $50 off and was wondering what the the general consensus is on them. From online reviews I’ve seen the stick is apparently pretty good but a bit more difficult to add custom art to but wouldn’t mind hearing directly from someone who owns it. Was also wondering if anyone knew when the preorders would come in. Due to the demand the 360 pro sticks were out of stock and wouldn’t be coming in until August but still no idea of any date. Hoping it doesn’t get pushed back to September or something. But hey, there’s still a lot of august left
I like the shape and feel of it, I think my old round 1 Mad Catz stick is better and better quality(and has a better heavier weight to it), my Fightstick Pro top art was kind of bubbly, the inside and a few parts of the outside look like they over sprayed some sort of clear coat and it was sticky but after a clean up and change of art it looks fine and is worth $80.
I peeled the 4 sides of the art and top and bottom middle to get at the top screws to remove the top panel to replace with a plexi and artwork, so I never had to open the stick from the bottom like most guides show to mod or change art.
Hi,
i’d like to hijack this thread in order to get you opinion these 2:
Mad Catz Xbox 360 Arcade FightStick PRO
Hori Xbox360 Real Arcade Pro.VX SA
I am trying to figure out which one to buy and i can’t decide since i’ve never seen them in real life.
So a few questions:
- Do they work with PC?
- Is it possible to connect them to a XboxOne?
- Are they both full sanwa geared?
- which one would you buy?
-
Do they work with PC?
Although this is not supported by either manufacturer, yes both sticks SHOULD work with PC. -
Is it possible to connect them to a XboxOne?
No, as a stock Xbox 360 stick they will not work on the Xbox one. Now you can have someone modify them to allow Xbox one use. -
Are they both full sanwa geared?
Both sticks are Full Sanwa. -
which one would you buy?
I have a TE-S for the Xbox 360 and a Hrap V4
-
Both should work on pc with 360 drivers.
-
No, that would require a dual mod.
-
Yes.
-
I would go with the best price between the two. If that was the same, I’d personally go with the hori.
And which one do you prefere? The TE-S or the Harp V4?
Looking to buy my first stick. Looks like I’m going to pay a ton of money for anything that’s not a lower end Hori because no one seems to sell around here so I don’t mind too much about price. Also, even if I don’t stick to using it for fighting games I’ll surely use it for playing arcade games and such so I know I will be using it a lot.
The stick needs to be xbox 360 (for mvc3 and some arcade games) and PC compatible (for everything else)
I’m waiting for madcatz’ announcement today – I’m going to assume it’s the USFIV TE2 which looks great and comfortable. I’m going to assume it will be about the same price as the KI TE2 with the revisions highlighted in the shoryuken preview article.
The Hori RAP 3 KAI is by far the most affordable on my list, I also really like that the stick is further from the buttons but from the pictures I’ve seen there looks to be no support for palms. My hands are pretty big so it looks like they’ll be hovering in the air half the time – not comofortable at all.
Lastly, I’m looking at the madcatz arcade pro, but right now the price + shipping is $50 difference than a TE2.
I’ve seen many reviews about the atrox but they’re very mixed. I can get that one for a bit less than a TE2.
I’d love to hear your opinions on this. I’m looking for comfort and quality. The price isn’t so important since I’ll be paying tons one way or another.
Look for a good Madcatz TE or Hori Real Arcade Pro 1-2 EX ect on ebay, lots of palm space on both and built to last(unlike a lot of the newer Mad Catz/Hori sticks that I’ve modded)
Thanks. I had a look on ebay. All Hori sticks seem to be PS3 and the TEs in good condition are above $350 after shipping…which is pretty crazy for a used stick IMO.
The Hori V sticks don’t allow enough wrist room for me personally. They look good. I just “wasn’t impressed by [their] performance.” -GSP
I’m looking for the cheapest Korean stick with quality parts for 360, as I asked mark at MC and he said the KE for 360 will never be made again, I have the ps3 version and love the crown.
I don’t have money atm, only other sticks to trade. Any ideas?
Yes - dual mod your PS3 stick.
I don’t have any money atm. I am also no pro when it comes to soldering. I’ve also heard of terrible lag when doing this. I suppose I could try and sell some old video games, but the PCB’s are pricey, and I’m not sure where to start when dual modding a PS3 stick.

I’ve also heard of terrible lag when doing this.
Then what you’ve heard is incorrect.
For the dual mod I’d recommend using a MadCatz 360 Fightpad / Strekken / Brawlpad. I’d also use an IMPv2, but you could save cash by installing a physical switch.
The pcb’s shouldn’t cost that much second hand, you might be able to trade some games for one. The dual mod itself is pretty straight forward and there are guides available online, though if you are weak at soldering then get practising.
