I don’t know if this was answered somewhere else but I haven’t seen it. What is the best option for a newer player looking for a dual platform stick? The atrox looks great, but I havent been able to find any solid info on whether or not its Dual moddable. The Etokki Omni looks nice, but it seems out of stock everywhere I looked. Wanted to make sure I have the right information before I spend $200+ on a new stick.
You can dual mod the atrox. Generally, any controller circuit board that’s common ground can be dual modded. The easiest way add 360/ps3 cross compatibility is the ps360+ pcb, but a) they’re out of stock everywhere (a restock is sounding unlikely too), and b) it has some quality issues you may run into. Next easiest option is a paewang board, but those seem hard to find lately add well (also has some reliability issues). The quanba q4 is cross compatible out of the box, though it too has some reliability issues.
Buying new with that goal under current circumstances, I’d recommend either getting a 360 stick and dual modding with a ps3 compatible pcb (the cthulhu seems to be the most reliable option), or (the easier route) buying a q4 and hoping for the best, then learning to install new pcb’s if that one craps out on you. The cross compatible omni seems a bit more reliable, if you can find one.
I’m looking for a new gamepad for PC.
Now that the Xbox One & Ps4 controlers can be used on PC how do they compare to the others controlers for fighting games ?
I have big hands and really like the extra spacing between the stick lever and buttons from the Hori Kai version design. I cant say it has a big game play difference between the old version of Hori Pro V3 SA ( which I bought before the Kai came out), you do feel the Kai version is slightly more comfortable when playing long hour.
After I received my project bonus from my boss, i would like to buy a new stick…any game stick has the same extra spacing feature? please recommand…
I would get the N3 Real Arcade Pro. It’s bigger, heavier, and just better. Same spacing as the Kai. You can look for the standard N3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, or Soul Calibur 5 versions.
So is anybody else noticing the cheaper fight sticks are no longer being sold? is this a regular thing?
The Quanba Q1 is unavailable, the Madcatz PRO is unavailable(only the 360 one), and a couple of others. And then the only ones you can buy have their prices jacked up by resellers (cheapest one I found not on the madcatz site was fucking $178…that’s almost double the original price)
is this supposed to happen? is it going to change back any time soon? because I just managed to get enough money to buy a cheaper end stick, and now none of them are available(though to be fair the only place I can buy them is amazon)
I wouldn’t read into it too much. Evo just passed, which prior to there is a huge rush on buying arcade sticks.
And the cheaper or better deal sticks sell out first. And Xbox 360 sell out faster than PS3 as the Xbox 360 sticks are more convenient to dual mod as you already have that Xbox 360 PCB.
Does anyone know if the dpad on the PS1 digital controller is closer to the DS2 or DS3? They might look the same, but I always found the one on the DS3 to be more stiff.
I think it would also depends on which version of the PS3 controller too. I have the older CECHZC2U and the newer CECHZC2UA2 controller and I much prefer the older CECHZC2U’s Dpad. It’s a lot less stiff and less mushy. Although the newer version lasts a lot longer in terms of battery life.
Looking to buy a stick for PS4/PC (PS4 has pretty good unofficial drivers on PC, which helps) but my only option seems to be the USFIV or P4A TE2 that MadCatz is releasing next month…are there any other options I can explore? Qanba Q4 looks great, but the no PS4 support is the main thing holding me back.
How do you like the stick out of the box? It’ll be my first stick so I probably won’t do a lot of modding…just wondering if its worth the buy or should I wait for the TE2
