What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting

Honcam would be the hardest, TvC is easiest the Injustice it depends on the mod to be had.
Art swaps are easier on the injustice

Hey i’m torn between
Qanba stick for 140
second hand sf te from ebay probably have to mod if not ps3 roughly 60
only things i can see that are available to me in uk
haven’t really looked at the horis though
what do you think?

Loaded question @Buxbunny. IMO, stay away from Qanba.

Depends on what you use it for. TEs are always a solid choice, but limited to one system. The cheaper price is quite nice though. If you plan to only play on one system, I’d go with that one.

That being said, I love Qanba Q4RAFs. For what you get, it has more features than other sticks that cost the same amount. It comes dual-modded and works on ps3, xbox360, and PC, it has a nice felt bottom that does a good job of gripping your jeans for more stability, the case feels more solid than a Madcatz, nice standard Sanwa parts, good layout on the buttons, and has a nice carrying handle, and it’s easy to mod in case it does break down. It’s fantastic.

haha slightly confused now one says no to Qanba other says yeah

@Buxbunny
You can ask 10 different people here and you can get 10 different answers what stick to buy.
Everyone has there own opinions what is great or not. It is also why I refuse to give definitive YES or NO answers any more as everyone going to have its own biases.
I rather you use this thread, read the guide on Page 1, do some of your own research and make a informed decision instead of asking other people what to go with.
Choose what stick you feel in the long run will offer you the most value, and you might want to factor in maintenance cost later on.

Qanba comes out of the box ready for both PS3 and Xbox 360. But Qanba is a grey market stick with a history of issues with the PCB.
The TE is the stick with the most mod options out there. Older model of the TE will have issues with the PCB as well. Newer models will not.
Hori varies wildly based on what model hori stick you made, Hori Sticks with the “Real Arcade Pro” often abbreviated as Hrap label are there premium line sticks. Hrap sticks named ending in a SA are Full Sanwa sticks, Hrap with a SE are full Seimitsu sticks.

how do i know if the te sticks are new or old

Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition (round 1) and Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Round 2 sticks
MvC2, MvC3, Blazblue, San Diego Comic Con, Fem Fatale

Mad Catz TE sticks that are labeled TE-S are the newer TE sticks, with the exception of the MLG TE all the NEWER TE-S sticks have flatter sides.

I’m sorry if this has been answered already but do Madcatz TE sticks have any issues running on windows 8?

from my understanding all console arcade sticks were never intended for PC, so under Windows 8 there always that possibility with issues.

Further more PS3 Round 1 and Round 2 TE sticks have issues on PC regardless of OS. The following Link was written for Xp to Win 7 but this will also cover 8

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind

Can one place artwork/plexi panel on top of the Namco Tekken Hybrid Fightstick TE-S?

I don’t know to be honest, or I would answer in the other thread. I want to say yes, but I am not sure.
If I can get to the Tekken Hybrid TE in person I could tell you.

It bothers me that there’s no information on this :frowning:

Well I found this thread from two months ago: Namco Tekken Hybrid MCZ TE, Plexi-Glass question

And this from Art’s website: http://tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/index.cfm?loc=about&sub=tes

Both seem to imply that in order to art mod the SSF4 TE-S, you have to peel off the art.

Then the same would probably apply to the Tekken Hybrid TE-S, right?

Bummer. I wanted to put a clear plexi on top of the already glossy black, then add in clear dustwasher/balltop and black plunger/clear rim buttons. Guess that’s a no-go.

yes you would have to peel off the old art

The Tekken Hybrid TE was a limited edition stick Namco commissioned Mad Catz to make.
So there not many people who tried to mod it.

Decided not to buy the Hybrid TE. I’ll keep my TE R1, regardless of how much I hate those side panels ._.

The article on Tek-Innovations says that if you’re careful you can maintain the stock artwork. Also, I don’t see why you couldn’t just add plexi on top of everything. You might have to use screw-in buttons though.

You can change the side panels out on the R1 if you want.

Can I really? How do I go about doing that? If I change the side panels and get a full plexi (which I am), its basically a TE-S now.

Just remove the 6 screws on the bottom panel and then the screws holding the case together (I think there are 12). After that the side panels can be removed and replaced. You can check the Trading Outlet or go to the Gameshark/MadCatz store for replacement panels.

can you guys help me decide?
HRAP V3 SA (KAI) (the one posted above)
or
Mad Catz Fightstick Pro (http://imgur.com/1HEXqLu)

i´m not planning to change / mod it …
are they both roughly the same size ?
does the hori one look / feel cheap because of the weight difference?

thanks…
