What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting

You can easily swap an octo-insert on the JLF that the piece ships with. You can get it here --> http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/sanwa-parts/576-paradise-gt-y-octagonal-restrictor-insert.html

did you check out the stick I was buying with it? I’m a first time buyer. cool is that one just as proficient as the one on Amazon?.

@Rhythmic_combos - Yes sir. The stick should have a Sanwa JLF from the factory assuming that it is the more common “SA” version and not the “SE” version which would ship with Seimitsu parts. The Paradise Arcade insert just as good as the Sanwa original IMO. You can also check Focus Attack or get it from Amazon if you want.

thanks so much, ok cool it’ll save me money and every cent counts to me at the moment i’m poor AF. anyway cool do you have a suggestion on wether the stick im buying could use a better joystick swap? and a link to a cheaper one then amazon?

The Sanwa JLF is a good quality joystick. It’s what you would find in most arcades in Japan.

Okay how about the Buttons? you know a cheap website for swapping them out cause honestly the setup looks ugly so I just gotta do something woih these buttons im color blind anyway lul no need for blue green etc.

Button quality is high tier. You can get buttons at Paradise Arcade Shop, Focus Attack, and ArcadeShock.

your saying the buttons already are good quality? and thanks yeah they have a great selection.

Yeah. The buttons in the stick are Sanwa OBSF-30’s. Arcade quality buttons.

Thanks you saved me like 20+ buying all new ones, how will installation be? of the octo gate. this is my first time so I don’t wanna really guess with it.

whats the difference between the ex-se real arcade pro hori stick compared to the first one I asked about that being the hori real arcade pro vx-sa kai

Well the two looks nothing like each other.

Hori Real Arcade Pro EX - SE (Special Edition)

Hori Real Arcade Pro VX SA (Special Addition) KAI

Also, (this goes for all Hori sticks)
Hori Sticks ending with a SA or Special Addition are Full Sanwa sticks
Hori Sticks ending with a SE or Special Edition are Full Seimitsu sticks

The Hrap EX-SE has been long since been discontinued and considered a collectible item now.
The Hrap VX SA and V3 SA sticks not so much

thanks I noticed that they discontinued them now that I read this. I was just asking what tech differences there were. I ordered the kai today itll be here in two days anybody have a guide to installation for octagonal gates?. I’m hoping its a synche.

It’s as easy as you hope it is. You just unsnap the gate (I push two tabs on perpendicular sides at a time and pull the gate away from the main body of the lever just a little until it releases fully), then you just need to push the center insert in a small amount and turn it until it comes off (counter-clockwise if I remember correctly). Then just do the reverse to install the new insert.

You didn’t specify that.

The real difference other than case construction is the Hrap SE are made with Seimitsu parts and SA made with Sanwa parts.
Also some of the older Hrap Xbox 360 PCBs are not dual-mod friendly.

thank you very much sir, is actually taking it apart to get to that part difficult? I’d imagine I’d just need to unscrew something of a sort.

You need to unscrew the unit from the bottom. This will void your warranty.

Hi guys, I’m really torn between three options that are available for me fightstick-wise for playing ssf4ae.
option 1: mod a broken honcam fightstick (buttons are fine, joystick directions stopped working)
option 2: buy the injustice gau battle edition (60$ = game + stick)
option 3: buy a local barely used Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick for 40 and buying the switcher for pc for 15.
Please help me out guys, this has been bothering me for the past week T.T
EDIT: I forgot to include, I’m not very experienced in fighting games but I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of SF4 and would like to dive in further with a fightstick. So I really have no experience regarding what sanwa and seimitsu feel like. I’m just looking for a well-built long-lasting stick.

How good at you at Modding?

option 3? Adapters kinda suck.

Cheap and easy route is option 2.

I don’t have any modding experience but I am good with my hands. Does the case need to be modified to fit Sanwa or seimitsu joystick?
Also is the injustice fightstick reliable?
