What side has the better MvC2 roster

I guess it’s time for my two cents…

You’re only good as your compitition…

in terms of SHGL era…

it was like this…

WC

Soo
SIN
Combofiend
DavidL
Jose Garcia
Genghis
Shady
Clock
Duc
Valle
Watson
Row
Rattana
Viscant
Ricky O
Toan Nguyen
and may 2 other players who i cant seem to remember

EC (and this is based on my vague ass memory of tourney results)
Justin
Bryheem
Wigfall
Mike D
Sanford
Arturo
Eddie Lee
Julian Robinson
Floe
Alex Koo
and at MAX maybe another player or 2 whose name escapes me at the moment.

so yeah this is who it was BACK then.

WC simply had more good players…
EC had the best player.

Dasrik? Did you just think up every marvel player you could think of and then put them all on a list and call it good?

if u say that, then rattana and nguyen shouldn’t be on the list.

ricky ortiz shouldn’t be on either, or should be on both… he’s repped EC even after he became WC…

Sup John, Honestly it doesnt matter whos better cause everyone really believes that tourney results mean something. Tourney results mean only one thing you played better then the person u played that day, thats all there is too it. There are no upsets in tourneys, do you think it was an upset that Yipes beat Justin? I dont, not to take anything away from him cause thats my homie but its 2 out of 3. Anyone can tell you anyone can win a 2 out of 3. So dont get caught in the “I placed top 3” hype.

east coast for marvel.
west coast for all other capcom fighting games.

WTF?

Were you even around BACK THEN?

Dasrik is NOT/WAS NEVER a good player and has never EVEN placed in a tournament.

Rat was CONSISTENTLY placing 1st for a couple of months in the Northwest scene before Row came up, and placed top 4 when he came down to SHGL.

Toan was placing Top 3-5 down here in SoCal at the time.

And Ricky Ortiz didnt move to the EC until after 2002, long after SHGL glory days.

that entire list was composed from the SHGL era.

You OBVIOUSLY were not even around at that time, so you OBVIOUSLY do now know wtf you are talking about if you do not think that Rat was a top player and that DASRIK was. shit thats laughable.

just to clarify, dasrik uses servbot megaman wolverine

either way… u wanna include who gets fame in NY, then u gotta put smoothviper and remix1213, shit, even epyonx up there too, they’re easily top ten in NY. dragongod, da dragon, javier, infinite, xecutioner, matrix, j360, and pungza aren’t a joke for EC players either. aite, so take dasrik out, but still don’t mean rat and toan are up there.

how u gunna liimit EC to just who you talked about. fuck that

EC (and this is based on my vague ass memory of tourney results)
Justin
Bryheem
Wigfall
Mike D
Sanford
Arturo
Eddie Lee
and at MAX maybe another player or 2 whose name escapes me at the moment.

wow, just wow. you put bryheem, mike d, and arturo up there, but not matrix, smoothviper, and x. good job

this thread is stupid why name the thread wc or ec,you was better off naming it what state is better ny or cali, because those the only 2 states that has alot of players, and im not talking about how good they are,i just mean there the only places that has players that play

edit: this is arturo posting

matrix was NOT around in the aerly mdays of marvel. he did not start playing on til 2k3.

smoothviper was around back in the day but he did not start becoming BEAST BEAST until recently. i remember him from those marvel tourneys back in gotchagames back in the day.

desmond came around in late 2000 early 2001 and he started making a name for himself back then, but again his he did not start truly beasting until 2003. i would put him on that list since he barely makes the cut in terms of early og marvel however.

philly was good at that time and we (nyc) went to hella marvel tourneys back in the day. julien would win most of the tourneys back then and countered me every fucking week lol. demon hyo was around back then but he did not placing until later. the ONLY player in philly that traveled around was alex fucking koo. (he was at b5)

theres a ton of players that i could mention were good for ec marvel back in the day but NONE of them traveled (except for the ones listed) so nam’s list is kinda on point for the most part (from a wc perspective)

i dont really care about the whole ec/wc argument, but at least get your facts straight mixah…youve posted a lot of stuff that was straight up wrong. who are you?

JESUS CHRIST… DO YOU KNOW HOW TO FUCKING READ?

SHGL ERA…

thats CIRCA 2000-2002

the list I compiled is pretty much 98% accurate in regards to THAT timeframe, when SHGL was still the PLACE to play. all the players you mentioned were NOT TOP PLAYERS back then. Do you not understand why i left the players you mentioned out? The same reason i left players like bagnus/potter/ducjr/reset/schmidt/chunksta/taiji/ruin out of the WC list.

thanks art… i left julian robinson (sp?) off list. I still remember him as being one of the OG good BH players

Alex Koo I left off the list because i never thought he was a top player… Originator of MST, but i still never saw him placing.

and Desmond i left off the list for exactly the reasons you stated… he was around back then, but really didnt start getting good until after 2002.

i would agree if someone didnt post:

FTW

truth right thurr… whatever happened to alex koo? guy had the best blackheart i’d ever seen way back then. he also gets kudos for sending himself weed in the mail to wherever he was playing when he traveled.

i’m suprised this has’nt been brought up yet… but if you look at east coast mvc2 in comparison, east coast mvc1 really was’nt that different. substitute eddie lee and arturo for justin wong and sanford(respectively)… same situation. 2 east coast heads beasting on the rest of the nation.
… my 2 cents

nam: np bro. why you hating on alex koo for? that nigga was the LIQUID METAL killer in mvc2 hahaha.
actually peep this url:

http://www.thebreak.net/ecc6/results.htm

itll give you a good idea of who was top on ec back in the day. notice alex koo’s placing, that’s why i said he was a top player back in the day.

that was a 180+ man mvc2 tourney that lasted for 24+ hours nonstop at the break. if anyone reading this thread has been to the break b4, think about how much of a nightmare that was.

hahah. Floe, AK, Bryheem and myself placing over SANFORD in mvc2 back then?? nice!! hahaha

and iirc you beat me when i took the game seriously and i did not qualify for the next day of mvc2 singles at b5. damn damn damn. lol.

dbycrash: alex koo pretty much exculsively playing tekken5 DR semi-casual/hardcore. he’s a anna/kuma player. i see him at cf quite a bit these days.

and sir…if youre gonna say that me and eddielee are the sanford/jwo of mvc1…you’re also forgetting about my man wigfall. he was a top mvc1 player too

http://www.thebreak.net/arena/old/site5/mvcresult.htm <-- old ecc5 results

top 3 was pretty much how it went every fucking tourney with me/eddie/josh pretty much taking the top spots 90% of the time. eddie would win the most tourneys but top 3 was a fucking coin toss really lol. actually back in the day we used to call ourselves the 5 deadly venoms, no homo…lol. myself, josh, eddie, miked and rich carnage ran shit in that game, but rich carnage was a bum and fell off haha, while miked = hardcore choke artist haha

HISTORY LESSONS ARE FUN

edit: damn i read those results, justin got top 5 that tourney, but we used to beast on that nigga ALL DAY in mvc1 lol

Damn I was browsing through the old break site while looking for those results. This place -still- has old mvc1 match vids!

http://www.thebreak.net/arena/vids/mvc-ed-josh.html

wigfall = too nice

Haha! Awesome find!

Add Chris Schmidt and then close the thread.

I can’t believe I still read these boards occasionally.

its true… my only claim to fame is i hella upset you at B5. but if it makes you feel any better, that was the only time i took marvel seriously, and after that, I never fucked with that game seriously ever again. <3

Snford really couldn’t beat SHGl when he was playing Marvel for 2 weeks. But now he is upthere with Justin.

Either way Justin lives in EC , and never ever ever a WC player hjad a clean shot at taking Justinout of a tourney. Back then, at the magical SHGL time, Justin had to demolish Ricky and Valle with ease before getting recognition. Valle was winning every tourney over DuC at SHGL back in the day, and Justin beat him 4-1, easilym after an 8-2 (or 8-1) over Ricky…

If Justin ever moves to WC things may change. For now, a timeline of top players will go something like:

0 2000 lots of weirdos,
2001 till now - Justin,
2005 till now - Sanford too. The rest is way below.
