What side has the better MvC2 roster

Sanford is definitely THE BEST player in the world. Wong is still absolutely amazing but I played with sanford 2 weeks ago, and i’ve NEVER EVER EXPERIENCED A BROADBAND SENTINEL BEFORE. This guy does not let you breathe because once sentinel is tagged in you lose. When I played against wong in the fair amount of games I have (about 7-8) he isn’t nearly as intimidating as sanford is. I guess that’s what marvel is all about really if you think about it: who is more hungry? Sanford is definitely more hungry and aggressive, while wong takes the defensive / timing approach to the game. I can see why Sanford and Yipes are the only ones to put up wins against wong in majors now: They both take the ultra-aggressive approach to the game while focusing on making zero mistakes in their game. I’d like to make an iffy correlation here, but I feel that aggressiveness in any type of game or competition usually yields the best results (for example: No Limit Texas Hold 'Em, RTS PC gaming, fighting, sports, etc).

so feel free to post away about what you think, but i’d say wong is washed up.

saying wong is washed up is dumb. But i do think sanford is better :stuck_out_tongue: I think wong beats him more but sanfords style is just insane

sounds like FFA’s secret weapon this year, he has the most unstoppable sent here. he will be released at evo.

LOL:rofl: , a secret isnt a secret if you talk about it.

omg miked

I love how people who have only followed EC Marvel for like a year come on SRK and start name dropping like they know what they’re talking about…

I just saw like 5 or 6 names of players who didn’t even start playing Marvel until a year ago. Remix? Dood no offense but I don’t play Marvel anymore and I beat him on shitty Break controls last tournament. Some people need to get their shit straight…

You forget Marvel is a SIX year old game. When it first game out, it was dominated by Blackheart and Doom runaway teams. People like Julian Robinson, Alex Koo, Eddie Lee, Arturo Sanchez were the top players of the time on the EC. The middle tier were players like myself, Ryan Lee from Connecticut as well, Josh Wigfall, Justin/Sanford who were trying to learn the game, Pryde and the Ong brothers from Boston. In fact for like 3 or 4 major EC tournaments straight it was the Ong brothers dominating, including the huge almost 100-man tournament they ran at CTF. There were also two players from NYC who unfortunately I can’t remember their names, but they played TEAM BIG and were raping Cable players. Ridiculous.

Right after that, about a year later, players like Sanford, Desmond, and that group started doing better and better. Josh Wigfall and others started with the RUSHDOWN and the game began to change. Bryheem became one of the most solid Cable players there were, and most of the Connecticut crew started to fall off, along with a lot of the older players like Arturo. Josh Wong, Demon Hyo, and a few others from Philly like Rick Mears started to step up.

I think the definitive turning point for Marvel, though, was ECC7 when Rowtron and the rest of Seattle came to the East Coast. That was when everyone REALLY started to understand how to play the game…it’s mostly about RUSHDOWN not just stupid jump back Cable keepaway. After that tournament, so many heads turned, and SO many players retired. It opened up the door for a whole new level of EC players like Mixup and Yipes and Isaac Graham and others.

I would have to say over the past two years, which I really don’t understand, there has been a SURGE of new MvC2 players coming out of NYC. I have no freaking idea where they’re coming from because from what I hear, CTF is pretty much a shithole now and nobody goes there. But we’re talking names like Smoothviper, Remix, Yipes, and others who previously nobody even knew about, but now they’re actually placing and raping people nationwide.

So please, if you’re going to try to give a history lesson, consult your elders first

And by the way, EC for teh win!

EDIT: Oh yeah one more thing. I know that most of the credit goes to Eddie Lee/Arturo/Wigfall for MvC1 but keep in mind that CT had a HUGE MvC1 scene and we always gave you guys a run for your money. If we actually played you more than 1-2 times a year we probably would have been beating your asses…remember who Double War Machine REALLY came from!

this is a 6 yr old argument. marvel players are fucking idiots. :looney:

yeah, you shouldn’t talk about secrets online.

:sigh: I knew that one was coming…

nelson owns life. end of story

ec runs this shit FREE

…its a rap lol

the EC history lesson starts w/ UP kids… back when stanford was a cvs player, back when demon hyo would get 3rd in a HIGHSCHOOL ONLY marvel tourney… back when arturo was a threat… SHIIETTTT… 3 cabinets w/ quarters lined up forever on any day of the week… bums off the street picking sent/cable/capcom and doing ahvbx3…

  • = heads u forgot…

Julien, Bryheem, Mike B, Trap 12, Rick Mears, Brandon Hyo, Wayne Davies(sickest strider/doom ever), Josh Wong, AK… even Alex A, True Warrior, Jermain, DMX, Sporty, Me and the heads from Team Granite and the like should get honorable mention… and thats just from philly… Sexy Ken Meadows, Kevin Smith, the Ong brothers, Bums from virginia like foomyjin, or Baltimore like Will rip… everyone would travel to UP for WEEKLY tournaments, the #s weren’t on WC’s level, but the hours of dedication, the egos and competition were there… shiettt no one wanted to freakin travel because no one cared, everyone was after justin’s title… then after BIG E, the manager of UP, was fired or quit or wutever philly fell the fuck off, i took an entire year off everything, including visiting SRK… marvel still has 3 cabinets to this day but its not like the glory days where everyone was practicing for the tournament that weekend, all week. Bryheem and Julien still haven’t learned anything new since ahvbx3, never practice, and yet hold their own against top players… BTW I’ll see u at ecc11 w/ bh/cable/doom wuts up kids…

I thought it was Sanford not Stanford…

some people call him stanford because he leads the most successful life in the street fighter scene

…lmao

The Yukon Territory.

I think Justin is better than Sanford simply because he wins more, but its close. Sanford is definitely more entertaining however

mixup and m1xah are two different people afaik.

I’m considering playing again just so people remember that I really suck. Because I think they forgot.
