"what other players msg you after you beat them" SF4 Edition

Isn’t there a thread allready about so called “cheesy”, “exploiting”, “cheap” etc. etc. gameplay somewhere around these forums?

I’d prefer reading about after-game messages instead of this would-be flamery, so can’t we just go back to OT?

Because I think it’s quite cheap, cheesy and an exploitation of this thread if this little flamewar keeps going on. :qcf::p::qcf::p::qcf::p::qcf::p: etc. etc. etc.

Put me in the apparently tiny “spamming sucks” category. It’s simply annoying. It’s annoying to fight, and it’s annoying to do.

I’ve fought matches against people who have one thing that works pretty well and just spam the shit out of it, and it’s boring as hell. I usually set my matches to best of 5, which means by the end I’ve figured it out and can usually pull off a win, but man, it just feels like an empty win.

I know what you guys are saying, and it IS a valid tactic, but I’d rather have a REALLY good fight and lose, than play someone who is uninspired and boring and win. (Though it’s hilarious to watch them panic when their one magical tactic stops working. SHOOORYUKEN!!11!)

If it were a big tournament and there was money on the line, different story. But I’d rather enjoy myself than guarantee a few BPs.

I was pretty much handily taking down this RYU who felt that jumping away, throwing hadokens, jumping away, throwing hadokens and then spinny kicks when I got close was a good strategy. He quit out on me and I told him he was “a giant vagina. A failure is you”.

and he replied:

“Maybe, but not bigger than your moms. Stop blocking like a *** and get some skills. F.Y.I:they’re battle points not blocking points”. -DMC1123

At least he had the decency to spell properly.

I then told him to learn to throw, use overheads and that my skill must be greater than his considering his life was lower than mine and he quit because he was about to lose.

Something tells me Sablicious isn’t getting laid much… or shit are we going to get a rant now about how much chicks he scores? :looney:

Seriously since the beginning of gaming, there have been lamers. Welcome to the world my friend, abusers and idiots are all around you. Considering these days most of the online community consists of children around 12-16 year old, everyone here complaining, Sablicious and Novakain, are just getting raged over some ignorant teenagers…

The narrow vision of some people to get so caught up in their rage and frustration really boggles me. I remember of my time in the Counter-Strike community that everyone was bitching over “camping”, and then in clan matches it was considered “strategy”. During the time I was active in the Warcraft 3 community there were also plenty of abuses and exploits… People dealt with it and improved their skill.

Seriously I don’t even see the problem. The choice between either an opponent who is like the training dummy on repeat mode, or an opponent who does all kind of crazy and unexpected shit is easily made for me.

Whether it’s “fun” or not when someone is repeating one or two moves is another discussion. However I can only say you are always in control of the challenges you put yourself. F.e. aim for perfect round whenever someone is spamming.

The discussion if a certain repeated move is unstoppable is just beyond idiocy. Why do you think the higher level players are not going around spamming the same move over and over again?
I’ll tell you: because they get punished for it!

Up your skills instead of moaning away like a woman in labor…

I think the problem is (at least in my case) that online you don’t really get to choose. You get who you’re given and deal with it. I’ve friended a couple guys who were REALLY good, but they’re few and far between unfortunately.

Newsflash: if you’re going to get hit by the same mixup over and over and never learn how to deal with it, then you’re not worth changing a strategy for.

To take it even one more step back, if you’re getting hit by the same move over and over, then you’re not worth mixing up.

^^^^

Thank you…

And that pretty much sums it up right there ladies and gents. Now off with some more ragemail stories.

I guess it all comes down to the fact there are always people who have excuses for everything they fail at.

Excusers fail at life, easy as that.

yesterday we was playing online at a friends house with 3 of us (360). these 2 friends of mine aint that good, and im new with sf4, but since ive been playing sf since 91 i know my shit good enough. this guy aziz87 fights with sakura against our friends fei long. we have a rule that every time you lose a round you pass the pad. so the first round robin got raped by his sakura. all good. then sander got raped again since he aint no fei long player. this guys doing pretty well standing 2-0 in a best of 5 bout. so the next round i raped him with fei long, round after that even harder, final round he couldnt take it and after i hit my utra and he survived with like 1% health left he did the old xb trick. he shut his console down. 15 minutes latter he was in party invite or whatever challenging us/me for revenge.

shit was mad funny. wonder if they noticed the difference in players and style :).

Yes you are indeed!

Thats pretty odd man, why dont you guys pass the controller after the entire match?

Let your or whoever it is finish their battles.

Just my opinion anyway.

Oh wow a racist with a thesaurus! The internet really does have everything.

I did get exploited by a Boxer player in SF2HDR, he trapped me in a crossover grab cycle, both rounds. I literally couldn’t do anything.

stop playing those exploited games & go back to sf4

Eh, like I said, I usually win these matchups, they’re just not fun.

I think I remember having a similar conversation on SRK YEARS ago, and even back then everyone just assumed that if you complain that something is boring to fight that you’re losing to it.

This is not the case.

Can you give some very specific examples of these ‘exploits’ in SF4? Maybe we can help you learn to counter them so you don’t have to make excuses for losing to them. If it’s lag related, I don’t know what to tell you other then find offline competition if it bothers you.

I saw ‘tick throwing’ in your post but i’m not sure what it was refering to; SF4 has startup on throws and short blockstun on attacks so there isn’t much in the ways of effective tick throwing in the game.

That’s not an exploit, it’s a tick throw trap. You CAN get out of that, the easiest way is simply to avoid it.

Don’t be a novakin.

Anyway back to the OT, I was playing some guy, who I think might post here, but I decided to quit because of how he was playing and sent him alil rage, “chasing down counter picks has ceased to be fun”. Because when I picked Fei, he hesitated and started counter picking me; and then every match we played, I had to chase him around the screen…eh boring. (He sent me a GG in return)

Novakin you seem to dwell on you and you friends ignorant street fighter unwritten rules, as people always say “Times are changing”.

And apparently you saw the Ice-T vs Souja boy videos…this is nothing like that…(but yeah soulja boy sucks so hard)

Sorry, I don’t know how to avoid a tick throw trap. I didn’t care to learn anything other than what I knew from the game from when I was a kid. AND this was before SFIV launched on consoles.

Voice message from TGBlack

I really need to upload it and share the link. Shit is PURE gold.

Literally sounds like3 or 4 boys whose balls haven’t dropped screaming second grade obscenities at the top of their lungs.

I understand where you’re coming from, but the thing that makes the complaining seem odd to me is that this isn’t new. Not to fighting games, not to any competitive game in general. The vast majority are gonna do the easiest thing that’s allowed to get a win. Picking Ken, using the M16, doing a Zerg rush, opening with blitzkrieg, going for the legs.

Dems da breaks.

Complaining about something that is inherent in competition just seems pointless.
