I’ve already seen way too much classism, more than any other forum in which I participate.
In an attempt to de-hijack, I’ve received disappointingly little in terms of hate mail on PS3 SF4. Much less than PS3 HDR, which is somewhat surprising given that the latter currently requires memorizing the names of the people you’ve played in order to message them. People still quit on me constantly in HDR. I think the comparative reduction of trap loops and option select throws has made SF4 less “cheap” for casual players.

I received that after a text book Guile vs Zangief match. I gained 89 points off him so I was well chuffed. (He had over 3k…,which I found ridiculous given he was actually crap - I beat him with SBs, when he could easily have lariated, green hand or jumped over them all)
That’s another thing puzzling me: I’ve fought several players with reasonably high BP (usually higher than mine) and they seem to suck. I’m guessing it’s just the scrubs that got the game early and beat other scrubs (case in point the zangief player as already mentioned: in fairness he did lariat through some of the SBs, but he for some reason stopped doing that at all in the last round. Come to think of it, I think he tried to rage quit when he had around 5% hp [he suddenly stopped moving like most rage quitters do] - it would explain why he got so pissed off).
Just an FYI on the connections thing. If you are playing a game and at first, it seems ok and then out of nowhere the connection goes to crap, it’s most likely the player you are playing against is inducing lag. Essentially all they have to do is start downloading something on their PC and boom, lag induction. I see this most when I’m winning and for some reason, they manage to get me in a corner. All the sudden the connection goes to shit, I can’t pull reversals nor can I teleport. When this happens, I goto dash. I’ll usually stick around to see if they knock it off, but if it continues, I just goto dashboard and send a msg like “quit inducing lag for BP or you’ll never get better”.
The funny thing is, I played against someone in Japan the other day and I had no problems connection-wise. So sad that so many US players have to try and cheat the system to win.
I guess I’m just getting sick of the 09 hate. I try to be more calm in my replies but I think this one just had sent me off. My sincerest apologies. However, my point does still stand. Especially in a thread like this.
If I go into a character discussion thread asking what cr.LP means, ok, flame me all you want. This isn’t the place to learn basic terminology and shortcuts. However, in this thread, when we’re just talking about hate mail, wtf was up with the 09 comment? Its just getting rediculous the amount of elitism in these forums. Granted, it’s not ALL of the older members. In fact, a lot of the REALLY old school members from 01-03 are actually pretty cool. It’s the 06-08 guys that seem to think they have some elite status in this community.

Tricks to receiving hate mail:
#1) Play akuma and spam Air FB and Red ground FB on wake-up REPEATEDLY. If they can’t get past it, they will either rage quit msg you or lose and msg u.
#2) Play Ken but play him correctly. Hit confirm target combos into SRKs into Supers/Ultras. Guaranteed hate.
#3) Play Sagat and spam tigers and when they jump in (cuz they will), Uppercut their ass. Rinse repeat.
In fact, play any character but only use 1-2 moves over and over again to win. This will guarantee the receipt of hate mail. Either that or pull the biggest nastiest combos over and over again (like Akuma’s flip kick to cr.lp - cr.lp - cr.lk - short tatsu - fIerce SRK - FADC - EX Red FB.) Guaranteed anger.
Instant mail:
Play as Dan, spend more time taunting than fighting. Do the super Taunt.
If you win, you will get hatemail.
Just go Ken and spam f.shoryuken the entire match. You will get mails.
Anyone who can pull that combo off on me, deserves the win.
I lost to that very combo once and I sent the guy a message saying that he had one of the most solid Akumas I have seen in SF4.

Anyways, I was playing a shoto who would do a reversal fierce SRK off the ground no matter what, so I just threw him, stood on his body jabbing while he laid there which got him really excited I guess. Just as he was getting up to do his super mega fierce SRK shoto excitement, I would just guard. And reset the pattern. He did this about 8 times in a row didn’t learn I guess… He msged me saying “You cheezy you cheezy”
I only got yelled at once so far for having a shitty connection. (I have 20mbps FIOS. :rolleyes: )
I was tempted to reply to “get a good connection lagger” with a long dissertation about routing traffic across the Internet backbone being dependent on BGP peering and explain that while two people could have great connections… Internet routes are constantly in flux and that at a given time it could be possible for two providers to be using suboptimal routes to reach each other.
Best Ever Hate Mails / Trash Talk
I should probably mention the best ever LOLz I had on XBL in SF4.
Very recently when I played this terrible Ryu, he kept spamming Tatsus (first I’ve seen of a tatsu spammer) and i kept destroying him with Air FBs (I main Akuma). He sends me a msg after saying “FB spammer, learn to fight.”
I was intrigued so I sent a msg back saying “rematch? I won’t FB at all.” He agreed!
I create a lobby and pick Akuma (now we’re voice chatting).
He starts SCREAMING "you said NO FBS! WHY U PICK AKUMA?!?!"
I said “Don’t worry, I won’t FB at all. Not once”.
Him: "Ok, but if I see one FB, I quit"
I said “Ok, no FBs. No problem”.
FYI, he picks ken.
Match starts:
Jumping cross-up MK into cr. LK tatsu fierce SRK.
He muffles under his breath: That’s some fucking bullshit right there.
He starts spamming FBs as ken. I FADC through them, block his SRK, and repeat the same combo as before, replacing the cross-up with a standing RH.
He SCREAMS through the mic: FUCKING BULLSHIT YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE! I BLOCKED!!
Finally, he lands a few SRKs on me and I jump back. He jumps in and I Ultra Demon.
I hear lots of screaming and metal crunching noises (like he threw his controller or broke something).
I said GG, rematch?
He said, FUCKING BULLSHIT! YOU FUCKING CHEAP BLAH BLAH BLAH, I can’t remember all the details.
He agreed to a rematch and I stated that I wouldn’t use ANY special moves. Just normals.
He said, U SERIOUS? YOU R GONNA GET WORKED!
I said, Then this should be a fun match for you!
No response.
I select Akuma again.
He picks Ken again.
Match start. Jumping MK cross-up into 4 chained low LPs.
Him: PROFANITY PROFANITY PROFANITY etc.
Me: Relax dude, it’s just the beginning.
The entire match I just kept getting in on him with throws and doing some low punches. I don’t think I even shot out a single fierce. Second round, using this tactic, I scored a perfect.
Now I hear LOTS of screaming and heard something break for sure. His mic must be on the ground because it’s kind of far back. I think I hear something like “you’re a dick” but I couldn’t really understand. After about 30 seconds, it goes somewhat quiet. He picks his mic up. I hear heavy panting.
Me: “You ok dude?”
Him: “You broke my stick”
Me: “What?”
Him: “You…<breathing heavy>…broke…<breathing heavy>…my<BH>…<yelling>STICK!!!</yelling>”
Me: “WTF? <snicker> How did I do that?”
Him: “RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE.”
I didn’t really understand much after that and then he quit. He sends me a pic a few minutes later of his stick that was missing 2 buttons and had a huge crack in the middle (looked like an old hori stick or something). God I wish I hadn’t purged all my messages. That was one worth keeping.
I actually kind of felt bad for him but I guess that’s what you get for having an inability to control your rage ;-).

I just had a good one where a dude quit out on me after I did Sagat’s knee-strikes throw everytime after he did three consecutive wake-up flash kick attempts.
