BTW the term “jap” is a racial slur that offends many people and I urge you to avoid using it.
I bet you didn’t mean it that way, but to Japanese Americans that term is like saying “Ni**er”.
(and yes, I am Japanese).

I must be one of the lucky ones. Haven’t gotten ANY hate messages or ragequitters. I main Claw and have beaten quite a few scrubby shoto’s and no pissed off “fuck you” messages…yet.
my bad dude. “Japanese”. I just marco everything.
I’m not talking about the ehtical or moral issues of being an asshole online. Hell…you don’t go to jail for being an asshole in real life most of the time. I’m just specifically speaking of the fact that there’s nothing so bad about being an asshole online that requires immediate rammifications. Microsoft knows a lot of its players are stuck up egotistical maniacs (they even have a label for these kinds of players) and if they went around banning everyone for saying crap and spamming up rooms they’d be out a LOT of money.
I guess it really depends on what you consider to be an arse…but both spouting slurs and spamming go into the same thing. Sure…Microsoft regulates it a bit more than PSN does but…in reality there’s tons of people on both XBL and PSN who just get away with what they do and there’s nothing other than money lost in punishing those people. I think people just move on with their day and yes…people like Ober Fuhrer would not survive more than a few weeks on XBL. At least I’d like to think that.
Microsoft already explains that your experience online will not be the same as offline and you know they’re not just talking about the delay in your inputs. Your teen rated test game turns into an adult rated test of nerves as soon as you go online.
Dude, NO worries.
:karate:
I have a VERY thick skin and I was NOT offended…but I have seen other people get ALL kinds of butthurt over that term on other message boards.
I’m suprised, alot of people are actually mature enough to admit when they got beat. After I played I really intense match, a guy sent me a message. I already started laughing because i wanted to read the offensive stuff about my mom he wrote. I open the message and it reads “Wow. Your balrog was great. I usually play good matches, but you completely demolished me. I would love for you to teach me how to use FA so effectively.”
I was like “o”. Now i play with this kid all the time and we learned alot from each other.
Also, does anybody know how to get KOF 2002 and Capcom vs. SNK 2 for XBL? I asked this question in the right forum and one guy answered very rudely.
HAHA at oberfurher…always good for a hate-filled rant. Honestly, his shit is hilarious because the guy is just generally angry and sucks at games. He called me gay for raping him on HDR, called everyone at SRK nerds and chinks, and seriously, who gives a shit? They guy has no skill and no life. Whatever.
Honestly, it got even funnier when he started sending me pictures of Hitler. The guy is too cartoonish and hyperbolic to be real.
On another note…I played someone by the name CK(stuff I cant remember)95–which I assume is his birth year–last night. My cammy and his sakura.
I win by rush-down tactics and the occasional throw and as soon as the match ends I get a message that says “cheap”
Ugh, wtf. So I just wrote him back “U mad? awe”
Reply: FUCK YOU YOU BITCH!!1
…seriously? You lost, get over it, try harder, quit, ect. People are such moronic children…especially the moronic children.
I really dont get it. cus you cant stop everyone let it happen? moreover, you encourage it?
I just think if we all took a step back and instead of going after people cus hey “its the internet” we actually be civil for a few seconds we could ALL enjoy our online gaming a hell of a lot more.
wishful thinking i guess
I try to send at least a GG, win or lose. I haven’t played since the SF2 days and I’m awful. I’ll be the first to admit that. However, I’m certainly not going to ragequit or talk down to people because they beat me. If I was better I could anticipate the throws/random other stuff and actually counter them better (feels like I’m just flailing half the time trying to counter when I know its coming); it’s not the games fault or the other persons fault, it’s my lack of skill and I realize this and am trying to learn and overcome it.
What I don’t understand is when I lose a game to someone that is obviously more skilled than I am and I send a GG or a “Nice (fill in the blank here)” most of the time they send me back some nasty note about how I suck.
It was a compliment, why are you talking down when I’m trying to be nice and congratulate you? /sigh
Every day I think my faith in humanity can’t sink lower and every day it finds a way.
I just usually get some GGs, gotten some friend requests too. SF4 and HD seem to be on the tamer side of things for me, SC4 however >.>…
Worst I ever got with SF4 was someone saying “ur tru 2 ur title” since I have a Chicken title (with appropriate king bird icon) and use Boxer. I turtle’d a lot that game, mainly since I wanted that win by time over medal for an achievement.
Not really. That’s more of a time/effort issue than money one.
And plenty of people “banned” from XBL for whatever reason get back on.
Not only that, but a LOT LOT LOT of gamers HATE online play of any type because of assholes like that. Curbing and preventing online douchebaggery would probably result in more money if potential online players didn’t have to worry about encountering dickholes.
ZOMG I was playing ranked last night and this is what I got lmao
JudgeSp3ar=Wow throw noob(He was playing Sagat and I was Ryu and I was zoning him really good since I would play him lil more than sweep distance away and he would wiff Tiger Upps and I would throw him I did this to him like 4 times. My reply?
Lol U Mad
Yankfan195=Wow your such a lil cheap ass bitch with you hadoken spamming learn to play if you come to this big tourney at NJ I’ll beat the s*** out of you.(He was playing a crappy Blanka btw)my reply
Lol U Mad?
Then I faced him again 2 matches after same results but before he said anything I msg’d him “Save your breath GG btw”
This is why I love online gaming becuase I just love setting scrubs to rage mode such as what I do when I play FPS’s and ppl alway accuse me of Hacking/Modding make my day
I don’t know… like you said even past the money it seems like a lot of work trying to clean up gamers and I think there’s a real fine line before you get into messing with people’s freedom of speech. It’s just really hard to regulate and the quickest way to get around the issues is to have a level head and just find someone else to play or take a break from online gaming. Online gaming isn’t perfect and sometimes it’s better to just take a break from it when things are getting out of hand instead of giving in and fighting back or making a big deal about what others like to say or do. Reminds you that real life is out there too.
You just have to find the right people and be friends with the right people. That’s really what the optimal online experience has been about since the beginning during the CVS2 EO days. Get good people on your friends list and you won’t have to worry about the randoms and A holes all the time. My friends list is 100 percent SFIV friends from SRK. You can guess that my games are a lot more fun online because of that and don’t run into the issues that other people do online. Nor am I compelled to make lists of players who drop during ranked games cuz I’m too busy playing multiple player matches with a competent SRK player. It’s all in how you go about it.
Of course that isn’t explained to anyone just coming on Xbox Live, but it’s just common sense. Associate yourself with the right people online and your experience will be that much better. Works the same way in real life too.
SFIV restored my faith in online fighting games. I recieved 4 times more friend requests, 5 times more praises and ggs I got in 1 week of SFIV than I got with HDR in 1 month. Also I got only 2 quitters out of hundred ranked matches, a single pissed off message and my reputation got from 80% avoided to 40% avoided!
mind = asplode
Me too.
My SF4 experience with other members has been WAY better than HDR.
However, the lobby system does make me want to set fire to things.
Some guy called me a ‘worthless fckin ngger that needs to get a real life outside of SF4’. I didnt know how the hell to respond to that. People are ridiculous.
The correct response is to kick him in the junk, real hard.
Unfortunately…until portal technology is developed, you will have to settle for reporting his bigoted ass.
:bluu:
It’s just sad, it really is.
I send out a “GG” once in awhile if I can actually get more than one consecutive match from someone. I have not received any messages yet.
Some kid did call me a faggot over his mic the other night, though.
