What MOV tried to teach me

It would be best for everyone if one of the mods deleted this thread entirely.

MOV is beast, he was teaching people at denjin this weekend and his teachings are amazingly good xD

Where can we learn these techniques that MOV taught? I’ve since disregarded the posts made here, but I still believe there is something to be learned from MOV. Maybe Yi can explain it to the rest of us? Seems he had some good one on one time with him.

I was very surprised how MOV said he trained with the computer, using that Gill knee drop trick as an example.I wouldn’t have thought the Japanese would ever have the time to play the computer when theres so many arcades with so many human players.I suppose console 3rd strike does exist in Japan players minds.

Never the less it seems like the ideas he was talking about are very innovative and complex, proves the point yet again that there is still life in this glorious game.

fuck

MOV for gradin other players fuck him tellin us whos strongn whos not just play the damn game

I believe MOV had nothing but good intentions. Don’t misunderstand.

What exactly is SGGK? Im not sure how this option select stuff works, could someone explain or point me in the right direction?

I will answer all questions.

MOV had nothing but good intentions and had no reason to say anything bad about Japanese players. If anything it is our fault for asking him about certain players, what was he supposed to do but be friendly since we paid for his trip here and try to answer our questions? If I asked him how good a certain player was, what was he supposed to do? Lie or be honest, whichever way an interpretation could have been taken.

The keypoint is, he told us things that weren’t supposed to be made public, I have already dealt with that. Do understand that whatever MOV said, good or bad, was with good intentions to get along and feel welcome with us.

So please if anything, can a mod delete this thread.

Does this mean MOV won’t come back ever again, and that he’s a traitor in Japan? ; (

No because he isn’t a traitor to Japan, people misread things and posted about it. Once everybody realizes it was just misinterpretation then things will eventually smooth over. 2ch is full of trolls and will jump at any drama. I’m sure MOV is just annoyed, he’s too nice of a guy for any of the people he talked about to believe that shit.

was it necessary to delete the option selects as well?

^What he said… I can understand the other stuff going but I don’t see why you wouldn’t tell people about new option selects.
Can anyone care to explain the Hadou Walk one a bit better for me, maybe in context?

I think Pherai is going to build a very big list of option selects he’s collecting from all the people that learned things from him over the week. If not, I’m sure they will let you know.

Here’s hoping that’s the case because this is the only way the community is going to continue to flourish outside of Denjin. We need this info too if we’re to compete at a level higher than our current surroundings allow us to. 2 hour drives to denjin is too much for my schedule right now.

The thing I learned and found most important during my time with MOV was his work ethic. I thought in terms of American players, I had a good work ethic but he trained me until 5am and woke up me at 11am the next morning. I was tired and wanted to sleep but I realized this guy came from Japan and takes less sleep just to train me and practice. Whenever he woke up, the first thing he did was play PS2, research frames, etc, no wonder he is the best player.

I look at him and think, why does he need to train so hard? No one here in America is going to beat him, but yet he trains harder than anyone under his skill level. This is what I learned most from MOV. Yes of course I picked up a few techniques and a trick or two, but some of the most important things wasn’t taught like work ethic and observation. I asked MOV how much does Kuroda practice and he says Kuroda doesn’t practice, learns everything through observation.

You guys can all sit here, ask for techniques that you won’t even be able to apply to your games because you all lack the basics of the game. Left hand is very important, make it a priority to work on other things before thinking so far advanced. I don’t even think I am advanced enough to use some of these techniques. Please don’t think just because you learn some secret Jump Tech technique from MOV you will become a better player without having a good work ethic to begin with.

So I ask this of you Nica, and Pherai, please hold off on making that list, I prefer all players to learn some basics first.

Please also, read this article

that is some bullshit.

to some 3s isnt ment to be life’s purpose. if we dont or do know basics thats besides the point. yall were lucky enough to learn from mov hands on, why not pass it on and let everyone have their own views on the strats.
,

yea i just took a good minute to think about what you said here and i absolutely agree with you, simply due to the fact that MOV told me the same about American players and how we lack basics and how you are right about us and how we shouldn’t really shift gears and look towards the advanced techniques first and go backwards which (imo) might be what slows down the community to start with

that’s really a great thing to know about how he practices, im really glad i got the chance to go to Cali it was really a perspective changing event for me, i compiled my list already but ill take down the dl link

i think the problem is if we DID tell everyone what we learned and spread it all over the community american players will take it to their head and say “oh i learned this and that from someone who learned from MOV, IM THE GREATEST”

most american players use this type of “treat” to boost their ego for no apparent reason and that alone makes the community weaker as a whole, and as we see it right now the 3s community is weak enough as it is (weak meaning not as big a scene as it was in the past)

What? That’s like saying “I want to learn how to play Urien because of his Aegis Unblockables, but I don’t care about his footsie game or pokes”.

And while I do agree somewhat that it seems unfair to hide this info…let’s be honest. How many of us are really going to be able to apply any of this into our game and become SBO champs? A lot of us probably think that we’re the shit because we can do this one thing or know some option select tricks. A lot of this info just ends up being gimmicky. I guess I can see why a lot of people consider parrying to be a gimmick for US players because of this mentality…

As for the list, I’m fine with it not being uploaded. If even top players in America can’t even comprehend some of these tricks, then the average SRKer would probably think it’s all German written backwards and translated into Chinese written upside-down.

I have no problem with the list being uploaded and I can’t guarantee how accurate the lists are, I have yet to master all of them. Just have priority in other things first.

But the keypoint as MOV would say to me, my last post about work ethic is the best thing most players can learn.
