Cool song man, never heard of these guys… mellow/funky. Kind of reminds me of Boards of Canada a little bit, has a similar chilled out feel to it, even if isn’t exactly the same.

i did martial arts for 10+ years, and competitive counter-strike for 4.
people always have excuses, let it be based on your definition of a real sport or not.
“oh i’ve had a bad ankle for a while”
“oh it’s an off day.”
"i’ve had a tummy ache,"
etc etc
what? is this an overgeneralization?
while i agree its not a physical sport, it can still be considered an e-sport because it isn’t based on luck or RNG.
it’s something you have to practice at. and again, you shouldn’t overgeneralize about the sf community like that.
besides, i think everyone here agrees that pro sports players get paid too much.
i’ll agree 100% that its a fun game and not life, but the “its not a real sport” comparison has been beaten to death.
That’s really what I’m trying to get at. Just because it isn’t physically demanding, don’t discredit it.
I disagree. If you can’t keep a cool head and evaluate your situation, you’ll never be clutch.
Idk about others, but I’m pretty selective with my saltiness. If I’m getting beat fair and square, I enjoy the fight and come back next round looking to counter what I just got whooped by.
However, I get really salty when:
I miss throw techs when I’m looking for them due to lag usually.
I drop combos
I get the feeling that my opponent isn’t even attempting smart play (wake-up supers and ultras, or repetitions of the same mixup) and they profit.
These are the moments where I know for a fact that I’m not learning anything from this loss. These matches are a waste of my fucking time.
In case you were wondering, avoiding Ranked Matches really helps this situation.
understand and accept the methods others use to win. the outcome shouldn’t come as any surprise to you. be a man and act like you’ve won or lost in your lifetime.
These responses of “It’s a game” don’t help for the most part. Isn’t it even more aggravating that your getting emotionally involved and salty at “just a game” your already salty about losing, now your frustrated at yourself for getting mad in the first place.
I get real salty online, playing people who I presume don’t respect me or i’ll get salty at dropping a combo. I’ve had anger problems my whole life and after alot of meditation on the topic I’ve found a few things that I hope will help.
Getting salty at dropped combos and links is a GOOD THING
Use this to push yourself forward, I get angry cause i missed my bnb even though I’ve done it a thousand times before, sounds like I need to hit practice mode again. Use your loss, use that salt and focus on future games, if you win how you gonna be salty?
Online play sucks
Everyone agrees with this, not even just in street fighter, it’s universal with any fighting game, hell any game that has an offline option but we keep playing, some because we don’t have another choice and for some reason we still get salty playing it. It’s crazy, we know it’s bad, hell the matches i get the most salty about I’ll joke with my crew about and I’ll find it hilarious in hindsight but at the time I’m about ready to punch my stick till my hands get bloody. It doesn’t help me at the time knowing that in a couple days I’ll be telling my friends about how mad salty i got online and how dumb the other person was. But it might just help me enough that I don’t put a hole in my wall
The solution
Don’t play online. Easy answer, but a cop out. We want to play online regardless of our feelings on it. So the real answer?
The REAL solution
Play with a friend. If online play drives you crazy, play someone you know, maybe this person makes you salty when you lose but at least you know they aren’t trolling you, and they respect you, at least more than some online scrub does. But I’ve also found playing online with someone in the room watching or just being around helps alot. If they know anything about the game they might catch something your not, as your emotionally engaged in the match your friend might not be. At least in my personal experience I can’t get all that salty with my friends with me, I might get frustrated but hell I’ll never put my stick down till it’s over.
Hope this helps.
Dope song dude
Getting salty is getting salty. Its the same thing in football of SF. Alot of the time people dedicate their lives to something they like, and losing makes them salty. I’d also like to ask what the difference is between a “Physical sport” And SF?
I take both offline and online play seriously. I enjoy both environments and aim to be as competitive as possible.
My advice is, to keep from being salty (in a chronically unpleasant way) you have to:
5. Accept the game for what it is, or find an environment (game/rules/location) you like
4. Have a good understanding of in-game situations and try to intelligently handle them
3. Grasp what you need to do to improve and be able to see yourself getting better
2. Stay humble by repeatedly seeking out and playing the people who beat you
Everyone gets angry sometime or another, whether its over his opponent’s play style or what not.
In the end, I think people just need to realize that SF4 is all about match ups. Sometimes you lose because you couldn’t download your opponent properly. If he’s mashing SRKs and getting away with it cause you’re not blocking or punishing on time, then it’s your own fault. I’m guilty of this as well but I believe I tend to have more tolerance of saltylessness than most others. But then again I’m not exactly at the competitive level yet =/
What makes me not salty? When I’m gettin’ my ass whooped by actual good players. I like when my opponent takes advantage of my weaknesses by stuffing and countering everything I do. I can’t help but enjoy gettin’ hit by perfect combos, option selects and mix-ups. I respect all that. That’s when I know I’m playing against someone good. I’d have no one to blame for my loss but myself. After all, it’s just a game anyway and I got beat by the better player.
Other than that, the PS3 version of SSFIV and HDTVs make me mad salty. If you ever combine those two together then I’d just want to kill somebody.
What makes me not salty?
What makes me not salty:
Not hearing the term “salty” for one fucking day.
You come to SRK expecting not to hear it?
No, i fully expect to read it in every other post. Someone comes up with a word and all the other sheep adopt it and use it every day.
What makes me not salty:
Proper grammar.
Playing with friends and just having fun w/o taking it to serious.
Eating Sugar
I’m always salty when I lose no matter what, and winning barely to a guy I should’ve beat easily makes me salty as well.
It’s all good though, I won’t send hatemail or anything like that i’m just salty afterwards.
by drinking soda.
