Its been 5 years actually. This event happened in 2009 at Chinatown fair. Im still playing Bison and still having fun. I even won matches in my pool at last years EVO.
In order to make sure history goes as he planned, Bison will go back in time to redo the events of Street Fighter 2. However he goes too far and ends up swapping places in time with Adolf Hitler. Now while Hitler is fighting his way through Interpol agents and company takeovers, a time-displaced Bison will try to take over the World during World War 2, then find his way Back To The Future!
My cousin used to DESTROY me when we always played
He was a bison player and its like he knew what I was gonna do every single time
As I got older I finally picked him up and realized how good of a character he is.
A lot of people say he’s only good at low to intermediate levels but I beg to differ.
So I’ve mained cammy since SSF2:TNC, SF4 was no different, but my inability to do links and FADCing into ultra always made me awful, never got higher then like 1500 to 1600 pp on ranked. With the impendig release of ultra on console I was playing AE with my best fighting game friend and he commentated to me something to the extent of “you know, with how bad you are at linking/FADCing, and how good you are at making reads, you should play bison.” And I was like “WHAT!? Why would you even say such a horrible thing, he’s a charge character, I like rush down characters.” and he was like “He is a rush down character who just also happens to charge.” and I was like “Well still, I don’t see that would help, I’m sure he has his own hard links and FADCing to ultra I wouldn’t be able to do either” and he was like “Nope, he has links but you can get away at low level play with st.hk and st.mk, and he has no real good way to combo into ultra, FADC or other wise. He’s all about making like 10 good reads per round cause of his low damage, and you’re forced to do that anyway with a character (Cammy) who should only have to make one or two followed by good mix ups so while its not a perfect match, he’d be playing to your strengths and you’d be losing less from your weaknesses”.
So I played about 10 or so rounds against said friend with M.Bison begrudgingly, with my friend to his back up character guile of all people for all 10 of those rounds so needless to say I didn’t do especially great… but I did enjoy myself, so I started trying him out in training and was shocked to find I was really enjoying myself and… well… and 2-3 months later I’m still playing him pretty much exclusively at this point.
I changed my Blanka main to Bison in Super Turbo. I liked the mobility through his fast walking and Head Press / Devil’s Reverse games. I also found myself getting much more successful throws with Bison compared to other characters (not including command throws). I loved how Bison’s game is based on applying pressure, and if you don’t, Bison can have a very tough time, especially when knocked down. Playing Bison taught me patient blocking as well as all out offensive pressure play. Just loved the poke kicks and simple cr.LK/MK into scissors combos too.
I felt like I was going nowhere with Sagat when IV came out. And besides, I have been rolling with Sagat for years. It was time to change it up. So I’ve been a Paul Heyman guy ever since.
I was allways secretly in love with that char but started actually learning him 3 days ago, and i am going to take him more seriously… Ultra, the new mechanics - aka red focus and st.MP being special cancelable made that char much more apealing to me!
And what is most important to me, as a Ryu player, is that i think he covers my worst matchups pretty good… And by that i mean Dalshim and Adon.
Not to mention he is the definition of “bad ass” !!! Great design, godlike costumes, quotes, taunts, and the voice acting is perfect. Everything about this character is just “bad ass” , you must love him !!!
