What jobs can you get without a high school diplima?

yo real talk…i have only a GED right now and was wondering how does one go into a trade??
reason i got a GED though was because my parents were basically poor and had no way of supporting me and my bro growing up.
so i had to get off my ass and work for a living and help out.
but now i find myself going from job to job living paycheck to paycheck…i can tell you it sucks ass.

my advice stay your fucking ass in school YES it sucks its not supposed to be easy.
but your school is there to fucking help YOU! yes, YOU!
if you cant find an adviser or a teacher to help you out then have your friends and family to help you.

if you don’t have either then MAN THE FUCK UP AND GRIND THAT SHIT OUT!
what you think life would be any easier???

how about waking up one day and finding out you wont have a place to sleep in because your too broke to afford your own place.
or not having any money to eat?

grind that shit out young buck. it makes you stronger if you don’t the only words you can say is “did you want fries with that?” at your new “job”

The fuck is a diplima?

I had to dropout of High School as well, but it wasn’t for some dumbass reason like getting middling grades and having teachers threaten me. I had to drop out and get a job to pay off medical bills, and I regret that decision every damn day of my life because no matter what anyone says that really does matter.

Matters for all the wrong reasons though, people look at me and talk to me and find I am quite intelligent. But then as soon as the whole High School Diploma/GED question gets raised and I give a straight answer, the tune changes rather quickly and I just lost what would have been a comfortable living.

Now I am trying to be more selfish, looking out for myself, I am working toward a better living and getting my GED and I have stopped giving a flying fuck what others think of me. I will eventually help people again when it won’t put me in the ground over and over, where people step the fuck all over me and I am driven to suicidal thoughts.

This is a wake up call from me to you and I really do not like sharing my personal life to a bunch of strangers in a rather angry forum. You don’t even deserve it but I’m giving it to you. DO NOT make this mistake, if you do decide to drop out at least get your GED immediately and save yourself years of stress and drama.

I was a slacker in high school. I failed 3 classes, took summer classes or made it up in my Senior year and still graduated with a 3.0. Stop being a bitch that thinks they know life when your punkass can’t even see past the tip of your nose. Your fogged mentality and where your priorities (being embarrassed to re-do a grade) lie definitely scream dumbass teenager. Suck it up and get it over with. It’s only for 8 months verses the rest of your life trying to get back those 8 months.

wait, wait

what if he is suppose to fail and we are trying to change his future and he discovers the anti-life equation in the trunk of his attic while sitting at home thus saving the world from an invasion

I’m a cook at a restaurant right now while I go to school and there is this girl I work with who didn’t get her diploma. She’s 24 and guess fucking what y’all? She regrets it and she’s going to get it now (by day obviously).

There really is no “Not having a diploma or GED.” You get one of them shits and only then will you have any kind of say so in the life you want to live. I don’t think anyone who is younger than 50 can survive without having those in this day and age. Every day will just be a gat damned struggle otherwise.

And how could anyone be too embarrassed to go to a special school to get a GED when everyone there is just like you? What?!

A good friend of mine never finished 9th grade but managed to hold a job his entire life, raise 6, and retire. The thing is he was born in the 1920s. The days when you can walk into a blue collar labor job, get a job that same day, and work there for decades are pretty much long gone.

Get your diploma.

Its all who you know and how you carry yourself.

If you speak like a idiot, or hipster and don’t know ANYONE. It’s going to be ruff.

In Brazil you can get as high as President of the Republic without a high school diploma.

Our previous president didn’t even finished junior high school, as a matter of fact.

So, moving here is an option you should consider…

1st world problems, man fucking kids nowadays.

Usually I’m pretty sympathetic to most people’s plights on SRK, but

FUCK YOU

especially if you went to public school.
Why do people flunk out of high school?
College perhaps… Medical school/Graduate school definitely
Im in medical school taking the toughest exams and longest (7/8 hrs) and have to go in at 330 am at the hospital and stuff like that.
Fuck, in high school the only thing I stressed out about was AP exams. The rest of the time I played Alpha 3 and Goldeneye.
Anyway, beating a dead horse, get the degree even if it feels tedious. Join some technical/vocational school if you don’t feel college is for you.
In today’s world, you cant even get shit with a bachelors anymore.
You wont get a decent house and pay your bills without some letters to your name.
so WORK NEGRO
Sing some sweet chariot or other spirituals to get you in the mood.

Peace out! beyotch

He can’t afford to get there.

Probably the best job I ever worked that didn’t require a college degree was for a company called RGIS. We were inventory counters. Companies need their inventory counted so they know what’s been stolen, how much inventory they need to order, etc. Our company would go to different stores with these lazer guns and scan all the bar-codes in the store. Did it get boring after awhile, yes, yes it did. But it was actually pretty interesting going to all the different stores and seeing merchandise (video rental, grocery, etc). I will say, the job was VERY hard on the body in the sense that you had to squat down and lean over all the time;it was especially hard for me because I’m a taller guy.

Those sort of jobs start off at eight dollars an hour and top out at around $13. They’re always hiring;the turnover is pretty crazy. Also, unless you really cool with a co-worker, you’d access to a car as well…I’d say it’s worth looking into. I’ve heard of kids in high school worker at those places over the summer. A lot of them even stay for awhile.

Two words: Merchant Marine

Get your diploma or your ged

If high school is too hard real life will fuck you in the ass

At least try to graduate or you could get hit by a city bus and collect disability

Aside from trade school, there are a few positions out there that let you learn as you go. Try to get into a machine shop if there are any in your area. Lousy starting pay, but you may stand to double your wage over time. And bam-you’re a skilled laborer.

My mother-in-law’s man went this route and he makes bank.

Some shops put you to work for 15 hours a shift so watch out.

If I had to go back to a $13/hour job I would fucking cry. I did an $8/hour job for two weeks just to say I’ve set up a company’s social media profile and all my money went into transportation alone. I don’t know how people live like that.

I think you should either go and get your GED or stay in high school. I am not sure that they are allowed to do that unless they have a legitimate reason. If you get your GED, you should go to community college and get a degree. That way you’ll have an easier time getting a job. With a GED or Diploma these days, there arent many jobs that you can get. A lot of the jobs that people are listing is stuff that people with degrees are even fighting for. If you’re close to finishing high school, i suggest that you try a vocational school if there is one near you just so you dont have to be with the people who were around you in your high school if you feel embarrassed.

Get your diploma and go to trade school. Honestly.

I would suggest if a job is all you are after have your diploma or ged and go to vocational school. At an rop or whatever, eventually they can help set you up for the job.

College is definitely not for you
