Gotta be ST/HDR. I could see Hyper fighting also, but any others no way. 3S Ryu has nothing on ST. Yeah EX Donkey is fun to land and all … likewise, Denjin fireball is cool, but gimmicky. The problem lies in that Ryu’s historic fightstyle doesn’t fit into the 3S mold, whereas ST Ryu is absolutely essential and the foundation character in Super Turbo. Everything about him is neigh perfect. He has offense and defense. His combos are awesome. His movement around the playing field, is just beautiful. 3S Ryu has some good stuff, but come on.
BTW Donkey Kick cannot even begin to touch Rush Punch.

I surprised nobody mentioned MvC1 for having Ryu/Ken/Akuma movesets all duct-taped together.
ST Ryu by far. He has all the tools he needs to win any matchup, but he also doesn’t have an overwhelming strength that makes his easy matchups a free ride. His design is absolutely perfect, and should be the gold standard for how to model Ryu in any iteration of him in a fighting game series.

3s Ryu is the correct answer here because of shin sho. you feel the impact of shin sho in 3s the way you don’t in other games. it is a man’s super.

I like ST Ryu: good options, several ways to apply them and also several ways to punish them. He is more balanced than my second option, which would be HF Ryu.
