What is the upside of throws being so awful?

So I assume that throws being really bad in this game was decided for a reason. There’s some kind of tradeoff involved. So what is it? Is there a positive thing to come out of throws being bad across the board?

only scrubs throw

throws were nerfed because reverse kara throws were too prominent in this game. basically, mashing throw tech was grabbing people out of their standing medium kicks and whatnot when they weren’t supposed to be.

Throws are still good, you just have to disguise it. I like jumping in with a heavy or medium kick, then throw…works like a charm

Because crouch tech is retarded and ensured nobody will ever get thrown if they do it right. So might as well make throws crap so that nobody will ever use them! Bad game is bad.

theres a clip of the cross assault reality show where seth responds to this directly.

in short he said standing up and mashing throw was throwing people out of tekken strings and out of some characters boost combos on block

nope.

I read this over 3 times but it doesn’t even make any sense.

i dont have to equip the auto-tech gem. it leaves another meter gem for my auto-block.

read the post above yours. it says the same thing but in a language that will make more sense to you.

One upside is we don’t have to see that obnoxious zoom in for a throw as often.

Hi. I’m from the future and i see you’re still stuck in some vanilla sf4, but the game has developed quite a bit since them. Don’t worry, by 2012 people will have figured out this amazing technique called frame traps.

Overheads and frame traps are the new “quick” damage…and I’m perfectly fine with that.

The fact that the oppotent gets to abuse the roll, and get out of the corner.

Standing jabs are so good at this game you probably prefer being thrown over being jab into the corner.

Just would like to note that not every character has a comboable overhead and frame traps are useless if throws are useless.

Crouch tech works fine, its just harder to throw and harder to tech in this game which I think is perfectly fine, makes people focus more on frametraps and mixup games—think of how long it would factor on the clock if throws were made easier? Less dmg than would otherwise be made off a hit confirm (30-50% combo)

but this doesnt make sense since like 99% of chains are airtight in this game

yeah, he said the tekken chains in particular(not boost combo abc launcher) arent air tight for every one

and there are certain situations where the boost combos arent air tight, but its not as common

In the end, seth’s reasoning is very poor, specially when there’s little reward on throws and there’s an auto tech gem. I’m more inclined to believe it’s because of jab pressure and how ridiculous frame traps would be with it.

Throws suck because scrubs hate being thrown. That said apparently there was also a technical reason where throws were beating everything. So in typical Capcom fashion instead of actually fixing the hitboxes involved they just made throws shit.

lol are limbs really throwable? :looney:
