Now now, Billy - everyone knows that throwing is only for cheap slubber de gullions!
The good side of throws having crap range is that no one expects you to throw so no one techs them anymore.
I’ve literally thrown people like 3 times in a row then baited their wake up shoryuken to end it.
I don’t tech throws in sf4 anymore
Plus i eat jump ins during wakeup because i’m holding forward to roll.
Mostly not being thrown all the damn time.
I played an E.Ryu yesterday who mostly used kara throws and judicious use of fist to face to score like 50% dmg all the damn time. So imagine something like that, except instead of Emo Ryu its every freakin’ character.
D:
Frametraps aren’t explicitly useless unless the opponent really doesn’t mind being pushed into the corner. You still have to do SOMETHING at some point
apparently they can’t be blocked
I think this is a rumour though
SF4 throws being in this game would be pretty ridiculous, I think.
That said, throws could use a small buff. IMO either keep the 7f startup and give 50% more range, or make throws start in 4f and keep the same range. I suppose the second one is preferable considering jab pressure + getting thrown out of tekken strings? I also think it wouldn’t hurt if throws were unrollable, so the expected damage (or risk/reward) is high enough to make throws more worthwhile. You could apply a canned setup after the throw.
I think if (when?) they rethink the flow of the game, they’ll decide that throws need a bit of a buff. That said, I think I see more throws in SFxT than I did in CvS2, so they’re not totally useless.
yeah, but this isnt just “air tight to 3f jabs”. throws are 7f. i really dont buy seth’s reasoning.
me either. just passing the message
The thing about frame traps is, why press buttons when :db: works? Bad throws only hurt frame trap characters because that is the motivation to press a button. Frame traps are mix ups based off throw/no throw. Frankly that is why frame trap characters are going to suck in this game. I mean against people who mash buttons they are fine, but against people who are patient enough to block they will be terrible.
To be honest I rarely tech in this game, even if I eat a throw so what? It is easy to wake up so I’ll take 100 damage unless I am in a situation where I can’t afford to take it. And if someone starts abusing throws I can jab confirm.
Between throws being bad and wake up being good, you gain close to nothing off a throw.
The throw range and startup were initially the same as SFIV’s. It became 7f as part of the nerf
then why nerf the range and the start up? capcom always seem to do this way to much when they nerf something. this and this is too good lets nerf the range and the startup of it.

Who birthed this individual? WHO? WHOOOO?
Why do people love throwing so much? I’ve always played fighters where throws were shit so i’m content with it.
It’s ok for throws to be bad IF the rest of the engine supports ways to open the opponent up. This engine seems to do the opposite.
Someone capable of detecting sarcasm, I hope.
Otherwise life at home would have been very difficult.
People will realize how bad the game is more quickly.
Because this game is catered for new players who suck.
Yup yup. SF4 Bison is all about the frame trap pressure. In this if you have the life lead against Bison you can just :db: forever and there’s nothing he can do except tag.
Sarcasm detection failed… Fail FAIL…

Scrub!
I wish Capcom would just think a little more about things like Mike Z is doing.
In Skullgirls, you press 2 buttons to throw just like in SF3/SF4 BUT…you have to be standing up to throw tech. DB/DF/D+throw will not throw or tech throws. If you press any of those direction + throw you will get a c.LP but no throw/throw tech OS.
Sigh…
