i’m a low level fighter so my opinion is based on what i like not what might be the tightest game.
i like sf3 third strike.
SFIV.
Knocking my nostalgia of SSF2 out. I like this game better. SFIV is a pretty balanced fighting game and much more balanced then SF3. Sagat is top tier but he doesn’t win all the time. On the flip in, Guile is mid to low tier but the Japanese do pretty well with Guile. They are at least really competitive with him. Can’t say the same for Claw though.
Yun/Chun/Ken are top tier in 3S and they win mostly all the time. In fact, you hardly see many others with exception to Makoto and Gouki and maybe Yang.
SSF2 is well and an older game and the balancing is ok for the most part. The game is older so I can’t expect it to be as balanced as the new iterations. O.Sagat owns though.
That’s a horrible reason. At least different playstyles are represented with Yun/Chun/Ken. Yun being rushdown, Chun being turtle, Ken being varied. People rag on Marvel because of the same reasons yet they fail to realize that different playstyles are repped because of different teams. It’s not as if the game only rewards one style of play. In fact, I can’t think of any game that only rewards one style of play except for Blazblue.
Favorite of most is ST.

Even though 3S is my favorite game of all time, I’d have to say ST is the best SF game of all time.
I’ve been playing ST alot more recently and I’m liking it more than 3S.
A thread pops up every so often about the one game you’d play if your were stuck on a deserted island. I would choose either ST or 3S. In the end, I’d probably choose ST. Why? Because like Hatred Edge said, ST is intense, fast, and fun. Matches are always close.
And if I’m the only one on the island, I’d choose ST because the CPU is actually hard. Despite all the bullshit it does, it is beatable. Yes, there are patterns to beating the CPU but I don’t play against the CPU that way. I play like I would against a human opponent.
Well to you it is a horrible reason. But I can find alot of people to agree with me about this.
I personally believe a more balanced games have more characters viable for tourney and different playstyles with those respective characters. Not just different playstyles of the same characters. But more variety.

For me, it’s either Alpha 2 or HD Remix. Those games are so quick and intense.
I actually think EX3 is up there, tho.

I don’t know about that, SRK has many players who adore HF.
It also has a lot of sycophants who say shit to go along with the crowd. This thread has more mentions of HF than I’ve seen in the past year on this site.

Best SF game ever? Too many good ones. I’m actually waiting on the first person to say SF4 and give a logical argument. I’m sure it can be done.
Not really into the Street Fighter games but in my opinion the best one I’ve played is between Street Fighter IV, and HD Remix. If you count Capcom vs SNK 2 as a Street Fighter game, then that’s easily the best one in my eyes.
